Bios Flash Problem, Dvd Rom Not Recognized

I'm a windows 7 user and i have this problem:my dvd rom is not detected by the computer, it does not boot from dvd when restarted. In bios it's viewed as cd/dvd rom. Before having this problem in bios the dvd rom was appearing as pioneer nr. As the name of the dvd rom is. I forgot to tell you that i'm using a laptop acer 5520g. I downloaded the bios driver from acer.com and tried to install it but i can't because of the administrator privileges which i tried for to day to deactivate but still no success in installing the bios. I also reinstalled windows several time.

And also, i have this game counter strike, since i reinstalled windows, because my dvd wasn't working, this game, c s, has this problem, from when i start it, both when running on menu or playing the game has this horizontal, transparent, wavey lines, going up. I tried different types of this game and the same, i tried reinstalling windows and the same, tried few nvidia setting from what i read from the forums, no result. My unit is a amd turion 64x2 2. 1 ghz, 4gb, nvidia 512 dedicated up to 2gb turbocache. Used to be working perfect before on the same conditions.

" In device manager they indicate (windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware.

The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) when i uninstall the driver and reboot windows, the same thing keeps occurring. Dvd Rom And Rw Drive Not Detected

I installed fresh copy (no upgrade) of windows 7 last night and after the installation finish, i notice both drives were missing from my computer.

Dell dimension 9200
Missing drives - pbds- dvd+-rw dh-16w1s and tsst corp dvd-rom ts-353b

Under device manager - they appear with an !Exclamation! Over them, there is no window 7 drivers† on the dell support website for my computer. I have attempted to do the firmware upgrade but tsdnwin reports drive not found. I have deleted the drives from devices manager and shutdown then disconnect and reconnect the cables and boot, and the problem is still here. I have try diagnostics built into windows 7 and it didn't work. Drives are showing up in my bios, while booting. Is there anything else i can try?

Dvd-rom Drive Vanished

I am running windows 7 on my toshiba satellite a205-s7464. It ran vista native, however, i had been running windows xp for the past six months as my vista install kept corrupting. I have had many hardware issues with this system. Just in december i had my hd-dvd drive replaced. It worked fine for awhile, however, it was spotty here and there where discs would get stuck, wouldn't read, wouldn't burn, etc.

I was trying to install a program today and mid-install my entire computer froze. After rebooting my cd was stuck in the drive. I used a safety pin to get it out. Now it only ejects with a safety pin. It doesn't read any discs. In the bios it doesn't show my optical drive as existing. It shows up in device manager, but not in administrative tools - computer management. It doesn't read. Doesn't spin. Doesn't eject. Doesn't attempt at all.

I did a system restore, did an edit in the registry suggested on a website i found, deleted and reinstalled the drive. In device manager, windows tells me that my drive exists, is functional, and is up to date. However, my drive doesn't show up anywhere else.

I can take it to bestbuy, of course, but i really need to keep this for class. I'm pretty tech savvy and willing to try to do stuff myself, but sometimes i need a pointer on how to do it.

Cd/dvd-rom Drive Device Drivers

So i'm trying to reinstall windows 7 after a long and bloody struggle with my motherboard (long story short, went to the field, sata controller died, got new sata controller, found out i might have possibly wiped my primary hdd, no backup) and after the "setup is starting. " Screen, it asks me for cd/dvd-rom device drivers. Seeing as i'm using a win7 disc to boot from, and it clearly read it enough to get here, and i highly doubt they even make cd-rom drive drivers anymore, i'm at a loss.
And for the record, the drive is a liteon ihos204 bd-rom. No other cd/dvd/bd-rom drives, either.
Thoughts? Opinions?

Nec nd-3530a hh 16x dvd+/-rw & sony ddu1615 hh 16x dvd rom drivers. I've just upgraded to windows 7 and while the rest of the installation went fine, my 2 dvd drives are not installed properly and both give me this message: windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Now i've downloaded the firmware from dell but when trying to run the executable files, i get an error message saying that the device needs to be present before installing the driver. Is there any way i can get the driver on its own to try and install it manually?

Flash Drive Is Recognized Then Disappears

I bought a lexar twistturn flash drive in december. It has functioned wonderfully with windows xp and vista, but my computer with windows 7 on it has given me problems. The computer is a compaq that came with windows 7 pre-installed. When i plug the flash drive into any of the usb ports, it is recognized and autoplay starts, but about ten seconds after the autoplay window opens, it closes and the flash drive is no longer recognized. This continues in a cycle for as long as i leave
The flash drive plugged in.

I have googled this problem to death, and have found no solution. I also contacted lexar tech support and was told that the problem is likely being caused by the pre-installed drivers. I have checked that my the os is up to date (it is), as well as trying to find drivers to re-install on the manufacturer's website. They may be there somewhere, but i have been unable to find them.
I'm pretty much at the end of my rope with this problem: please help?

Usb Flash Hard Drives Not Recognized

Since purchasing my computer, i've been able to use the various usb drives for other hardware such as wireless internet, hauppage tv reception, and wireless mouse/keyboard. However, any attempt at reading an external flash drive (then larger external hard drive) on all of the ports the drive is not successful. The drive appears in the device manager and is appropriately named, it is also listed in the disk management window as disc 5 (underneath the various sd drive ports and whatnot-one of which appears to be assigned the name of usb external hard drive when in fact it is not).

Upon attempt to reassign a drive path/letter the message appears that "disk management console view not up to date", but restarting does no good. Dell support is not supportive and claim it is a software problem because the ports work for other devices.

Cd/dvd Driver Not Recognized On Win 7

I received a new dell inspiron for christmas with windows 7 and the dvd/cd drive is apparently nonexistent in the software. When placing any disc in the drive it sounds like it is trying to read it, then stops. Under computer , d: is not even listed. Only c: now, on occasion, the computer will recognize the drive and it will work just fine, but not today, and i'm tired of working around that random chance. I attempted to reinstall it, as per the microsoft website instructions, and the drive is not even listed under device manager as the website led me to believe it would be.

Now, disc drives is, but there is no such option upon expanding or right-clicking to uninstall anything, nor does anything under disc drives seem remotely similar to what the website made me think dvd/cd rom drives would look like. So that's my problem. I would just call customer support, but that, uh, costs 60 dollars.

Dvd Drive Not Recognized Unless Scan For Hardware Changes

I have 2 ide optical drives in my desktop, a sony ddu1612 dvd-rom (cable select in the slave position), and a pioneer dvr-116d dvd-rw (cable select in the master position).

These worked great until i installed windows 7, and actually still work great. The only problem is that each time the computer is booted, the pioneer will not show up until i go into device manager, under dvd/cd-rom drives and "scan for hardware changes" (the sony is always recognized as it should be) - then everything works fine, until i reboot the system.

Is there a permanent way to fix this so that both devices are automatically recognized each boot?

Usb Flash Drive Driver Install Failed / Not Recognized

I plugged in a flash drive to my laptop the other day and i got the plug and play message, it downloaded the driver but the installation failed. Now windows 7 will not even recognize that the flash drive is plugged in or try to install the driver again. The flash drive still works on my main computer just fine and other usb devices including other flash drivers work just fine on this laptop. Device manager and computer management under administrative tools do not register it as being plugged in either.

I could not find a way to check if maybe the driver did install and was corrupted. Is there anything i can do?

Usb Flash Drive Error - Volume Does Not Contain Recognized File System

I plugged in my usb flash drive into a computer using windows 7. It always prompts me to scan and fix or cancel. I canceled every time, but i got annoyed with it popping up every time, so i told it to scan and fix. A loading screen came up so i patiently waited. After completion it asks to format my usb flash drive. I can't format it though because i have homework files and all my other personal files on there. So i canceled the format, but every time i plug it into my computer it asks t format it. I even plugged it into a computer running on windows xp and it wanted to format it.

When i try to run it without formatting it it says, "e: is not accessible. The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted. " My question is, what did windows 7 do to my flash drive and how do i recover my data?

Usb Flash Drive - Usb Device Is Not Recognized

I have tried 4 different usb flash drives from different manufacturers and my usb hard drive from western digital. Windows 7 recognizes it until i start transferring files. Then it can't find the drive. When i unplug it and plug it back in, i get a notification that the usb device is not recognized. After i restart the computer, it does the same thing all over again. I ran vista before windows 7 and never had this problem. I am very frustrated. I must have access to my flash & external drives or windows 7 is useless to me.

Cd-rom Game Wont Run

1st off- i hope i'm posting in teh right place. I kept lookign specifically for xp forums, but it kept bringing me here to what *looks* like a win 7 forum. I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my oldish cd-rom game (temple of elemental evil) won't run. I've played it on my laptop before w/ no trouble. Installs seemed fine. But this time round, i just get the spinning disc, the drive starts humming. Spinning disc goes away, drive stops humming- no game.

Freezes, gotta restart manually. =/I've tried unchecking the "enable cds to write w/ this drive" thing in the d: drive tab, nothing. Bought 2 new discs to be sure it wasn't a defective disc. Nothing. Installed the 2 patches from the game's website. Nothing. Is there a setting or something i can try? A workaround? Maybe something is blocking it. I dunno. I'm at the end of my rope here. :(Xp, sp3, 2gb)††††

Win 7 Wont Recognize Cd-rom

Ok, hereís the skinny.

I have a dell something.

Intel® pentium® 4 cpu 3. 20 ghz 3. 19ghz
3. 00 gb
32-bit operating system
Windows 7 home premium

My problem is that i am unable to use my cd-rom.

About a year ago my dc-rom took a dump and stopped opening so i just never used it. Well, about 2 months ago i upgraded from xp to win 7. The other day i needed to run an cd and decided to put in a new cd-rom. Took the old out and put the new in. Problem is that even though it is plugged in (long skinny data cable and what appears to be a 3-pring power plug) it wonít work. The cd-rom opens and closes but win 7 wonít recognize it.

Trouble shooting 101: yes, the cd-rom works. I took it out of this out of my last dell pc that it came in. The rom is a sonycd-rw crx216e. After discovering that it wonít work in this pc i put it back in the old dell. Plugged it in, tossed in a cd and bam! Works just fine. Took it back out of that old pc and put it in this pc and nothing. It should be noted the other pc is running xp.

So now iím like ***. So, i decided to plug in the old cd-rom †that came w/ this pc that is broken and reboot. And win 7 still wonít recognize this one either.

Now i donít know when i lost control of my cd-rom because i havenít used it in so long. I donít know if i lost it after installing win 7 or what. I do know i canít get it to work now.

Iíve tried reading forums and canít seem to find a fix. I even tried to run the built in win 7 troubleshooting program and it sayís it is not detecting an optical something or another drive. When i open my device manager it does not show any cd-rom installed.

I even tried going to dell and downloading the latest drivers for the rom, which was last updated in 2004, and running those. End result, nothing.

Anyone got any ideas?
