Obex File Transfer

I have windows 7 home premium 32bit. From time to time i am using usb bluetooth dongle(chipset broadcom 2045), which is without a problem detected and all drivers are installed properly by windows. Only problem which i have is with obex file transfer. I can send to my paired phone(nokia 6300) any amount of files in terms of quantity or size, as far as there is enough space on phone memory card, but not conrarywise - from phone to pc.

Always when i send something from phone to pc, what si larger than cca 300-310kb transfer fails. Has somebody an idea if this is nokia problem or problem in microsoft bluetooth stack? Why is it working only one way, from pc to phonelso is there some way how to browse paired phone through windows explorer the same way like with 3rd party software from widcomm or bluesoleil?

Easy Windows Transfer

I upgraded from windows xp to windows professional. I used the easy windows transfer program and let it do its thing. I backed up the files to my western digital book. It transfered 329 gigs. When i went to transfer the file back to the computer it says there isn't enough space. Which is true it's only a 500 gig hard drive. Windows 7 said it would do a clean install but all the files are still in the computer i just can't use them. Do i have to format my hard drive then install windows 7 then bring my files back over? How do i get my files back over to the computer?

Windows Easy Transfer

I'm having problems with windows easy transfer (wet). I bought a new laptop with windows 7. The old laptop has vista home premium, which i updated to latest version. Both laptops are connected wirelessly to my netgear router. I can see each computer under the other's network. I want to transfer info from my old pc to the new one, but i cannot. I open wet on the old pc and get to the point where it tells me to get a key from the new pc. I cannot get a key from the new pc, because it prompts me to enter a key from the old pc. These two instructions are contradictory.

I got a key from the old pc and entered in the space on the new pc. The new pc is trying to connect to the old pc but cannot. After a while i get the error message:" wet cannot connect to your other computer. To complete the connection, you might need to install the latest version of wet on your other computer. " I  have done that and i still cannot connect. What do i need to do to connect my new pc to the old pc?

Easy Transfer Report

I recently bought a new pc with windows 7 already installed. I performed a windows easy transfer of most of my stuff from my old xp to the windows 7 pc with no fuss, except when it was installing/saving the transferred data, it asked me for my old pc's password. I didn't know it, didn't even know it had one and neither did my husband. We tried all the obvious ones, then just gave up and closed that window down. And the rest of the installation/saving continued. Now when i go to view the report of what was transferred, i am unable to open it as it keeps saying that an error has occurred, and do i want to continue running scripts.

Then a pop up box appears with the following message. "Windows easy transfer post migration application has stopped working". It then searches for a solution, then says "it has a problem that caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify if a solution becomes available". Then the report closes down and i cant view it at all. What can i do?

Using Backup To Transfer Files

I have been using xp's backup/restore to keep two computers in different locations in synch. I backup all my data on computer 1 and restore it to computer 2, choosing to restore only if the files on computer 2 are older.

I'm about to buy windows 7. I understand that its backup does incremental backups, not full ones. This won't work for me, because i may have changed a file on computer 1 several days ago and done backups since then, so, as i understand it, the file won't be backed up if i haven't changed it since.

Is there a way to do full rather then incremental backups? If not, i'd welcome suggestions for ways to keep the two computers in synch.copying all the files on computer 1 and then copying them to computer 2 seems inelegant to say the least.

Transfer Of Oe Files From Xp Machine

I have transferred my files to win 7's windows live mail e-mail program, but it has not (cannot?) Transfer the contact groups or the message subfolder arrangements. Is there a way to do this? Other queries on this forum have suggested helpful methods (and thank you, all), but they involve a lot of manual steps. If windows live mail won't do this formatting automatically, or nearly so, , is there another e-mail program i can use to accommodate my oe formatting?

Transfer Error 1612

I am having some difficulty installing, uninstalling and reinstalling some oem software supplied with a video/audio grabber. By coincidence, the same software is also supplied with a usb dvb-tuner that i also bought.

The disk that i am focusing on is the one supplied with the video/audio grabber in the link below:

http://www.Agknordic.com/new/index.php?Side_id=248

I bought it from netto a few months ago.

The oem software is supplied by arcsoft, this is the link to their website:

http://www.Arcsoft.com/estore/featured_products.asp?Id=estore

The disk contains installations for:

A) drivers

B) showbizdvd 2

C) totalmedia 3. 5

D) video downloader

My immediate issues are with a) and b) although it is apparent that neither of the other applications will work either.

I have tried to uninstall the above software after receiving error messages. I have used the disk supplied to attemt to carry this out.

The first message i get is:

Usb video/audio driver

Set up could not find a file on the specified path or disk.

Please check that the proper disk is inserted or specify a new path.

Unable to locate file: c:usersbrians~1appdatalocaltemp{61b21240-486a-4b0b-9d0f-85435becdd97}usb video audio driver. Msi

This is accompanied by another message:

Feature transfer error

Error:- 1612. The installation source for this product is not available.

Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.

The strange thing is that after the first time that i installed the suite of programs from the disk, it all worked! I trialled transferring a short amount of footage from vhs to my hard disk and it actually worked. My cheif concern at the time was that the amount of memory it was taking up as it was transferring seemed rather large for the 5 to 10 minutes of footage.

I queried this on the arcsoft tech support, who were initially quite helpful. They didn't send me an answer as such but did provide me with a patch which i assumed would allow things to work better in windows 7, (the disk supported only up to xp). Since i ran that patch, everything seems to have deteriorated and there seems no easy way back! I have tried a system restore but the point which i created had been deleted so i went back as far as possible which evidently was not as far as needed!

Arcsoft have apparently gone quiet on me or they are on holiday! They are in the usa i believe, so it may be that july 4 may have something to do with their apparent silence.

Can anyone shed any light on this and what actions i should take?

All Program Settings

I have a question about how to organize my "all programs" settings. When i click start then all programs, all my folders are at the bottom and misc. Files are on the top. I would like to put the folders in alphabetical order and have the misc. Files last. It was easy to do on all the other window's programs but i can't seem to find a way with windows 7.

Services Settings

I have been trying to maximize the performance of my rig since i only have 4 gigs of ram and my ancient 1 year old mobo can hardly cut it with windows 7 (sarcasm intended). So, i have been fiddling with services but i occasionally mess things up and i end up painstakingly trying to reset those service back to their defaults, one at a time. How hard could it be for the services panel to have a ‘default" or "reset" button? So when people like myself (i’m not very smart) mess up a setting, we can simply click "reset" and the ole’, comfy, default services fix my screwup. Are there other ways to do this other than the aforementioned "by hand" method. Software? Utilities?

Regionalization Settings

It appears that when i change the regionalization settings to prc china, all menus become chinese regardless of how i configure it. In xp, i was able to change this and the menus remained in english. My problem is that with visual basic 6 programs, the text is not unicode. In order to read chinese in my program, i need to maintain english menus but support chinese as big 5, etc and not unicode. This effects microsoft sapi function for foreign languages. Does anyone know how to configure this?

Transfer Xp Files Over Other Drive With Win7

Can i have a drive with windows 7 on it and another with windows xp and then transfer xp files over? I tried to upgrade to windows xp sp3 and it messed my system up really bad. Can't get out of safe mode. After several days of trying i finally decided to just go buy windows 7 and a tb+ hard drive.
I currently have two drives. I plan to remove one, stick in the terabyte sized drive, format it and put windows 7 on it.

My questions are: 1. Will i then be able to transfer files from my previous primary drive to this new one running windows 7 if the old primary drive has windows xp on it? Question 2? Will the old primary drive automatically become windows 7 thereby messing up all its files?

Ms Office 2007 Lost And Did Not Transfer

After win 7 professional installation and completing 'transfer of files', my ms office standard 2007 did not transfer along with my (other) previously loaded ms programs. Are these programs now lost or can i retrieve them? I have been using vista since it's release and i have noted no problems of this type before.

I purchased your ms step by step win 7 manual prior to my win7 installation, but was unable to fix this problem. I don't want to loose all my ms word program, data or files. I have tried using the windows easy transfer (win 7) at least 3x w/o success! I don't want to reload the office standard again. I also don't want to purchase a new ms office 2007 either. (I had to reload it previously due to a hd replacement (after it's failure)).

Easy Transfer Drive Mapping

I am having issues with an xp-win 7 upgrade. When i use wet utility it tries to install all my files onto my small c:drive. The original . Mig file comes from a computer with c: j: k: drives. The new comp just has c: and d:. Why isn't it giving me an option to map the drives when i upgrade? It tries to install on c drive then gives up when it runs out of space.

When i look at the map drive tab in wet it says 'no drives are available for mapping. ' i have tried using the same file on a vista laptop and easy transfer works perfectly - it gives me an option of where to install my files. I have tried renaming the d: drive on my win 7 machine to m and j to see if this would force east transfer to give me an option of mapping drives - but it hasn't worked.

Usb Transfer Cable Old Xp To New Win 7

Someone very nice just bought and gave me a brand new gaming computer. He bought me a new hard drive. I have my old computer with two hard drives running windows xp. 1st hard drive has all my game settings and links from desktop icon to the 2nd hard drive, which i use to store about 100 games.

I simply need to transfer everything. It would take me weeks to load all 100 of those games with their patches, downloads, ect. So i bought a usb transfer cable for 15 bucks. I get home and first thing it says is "start both computers"

I do have two power cords, but i only have one keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Can i hook up the usb cord between the two, plug both power cords in, and just keep switching my mouse, keyboard, and monitor back and forth to do the process? I'm assuming once the transfer begins i wont be using them.

My new computer has a 500gb hard drive. My old one used and 12 gb c:drive and 80gb d: slave. Will it read both and just dump everything from both hard drives into the new one?  What about files that have the same name?  Will it combine them?

I've just spent about 90mins reading and searching through many sites and posts. None seem to have anyone similar to my situation, which i found strange. Does everyone buy a new mouse, keyboard, and monitor. :-)

File Transfer To External Hdd

External hdd: adata nh-92 500gb
Computer: asus g51jx

I'm trying to move an iso file from my desktop to the aforementioned external hdd, but when i drag the file over to the hdd, i get a window that pops up saying that "the file is too large for the destination file system. " Is the problem really because the file is too big (7. 86 gb), or is there something that might be wrong with my computer? I think it may be because of my laptop because i got this file from my friend's external hdd, so if he could copy it on to his external, why can't i?

Extract From Easy Transfer File

I upgraded from vista home premium  to windows 7 professional and used the easy transfer to move my files and settings which were saved on an external hard drive.

I made the conversion and everything worked fine. Unfortunately, after the conversion one of my files got corrupted(due to my own mistake) and is no longer available. The file "saveddata. Mig" is still available on my external drive which prompts the following questions: is it possible to extract a specific file from "saveddata. Mig"? If so, how would i go about it?

Easy File Transfer Problems

I was converting from windows xp to windows 7. I ran 'easy file tranfer' and copied my 'setting' to a usb stick. They were saved as a folder with the name 'usmt2img. Dat'. This apparently contained no files, but has a size of 353, 724. I ran 'easy file transfer' and copied settings and files to and external hard drive. These were save as a folder usmt2. Unc containing the files  'img00001. Dat', ' img00002. Dat', 'img00003'. Dat and another file of 1kb called 'status'.

I installed windows 7 and ran 'easy file tranfer' to restore my settings. It ran until i indicated where the files were located on the usb stick, and the files did not appear in the open folder.
I then tried with the external hard drive, and again in ran  until i indicated where the files were located on the drive, and the files did not appear in the open folder. This time when i typed the file names into the space provided, easy file tranfer' started to run, then said  'cannot open files'.

How can i recover my settings? (I have the 'my documents' files backed up at another location, but i need my old e-mails and address book particularly. )

Easy Transfer & Disc Space

I just upgraded to windows 7 professional from vista home edition and was required to do a custom installation. Before installing, i moved the contents of the c drive to an external drive using windows easy transfer, as microsoft recommended. Now when i try to use easy transfer to move files back to the c drive, i get an error message that reads: " "there isn't enough  disc space available to transfer your files and settings. "

Easy transfer has 16. 3 gb to move, and the c drive reports having  203 gb available. The f drive has 231 gb available, and the d: recovery has 3. 05 gb available (out of 14. 6 gb). What's the problem with easy  transfer's moving these files back to c? More importantly, what's the solution?

Easy Transfer User Account

I've ask this elsewhere but it is getting pushed back without a reply. I have easy transfer with a cable to transfer files & setting from our xp machine. I've been using the w7 pc off-line for a course. I set up 4 account like we have on the xp machine. Will the easy transfer screw up with accounts with the same names already in place? I set them up because i was having trouble with a "demo" account the store set up but didn't completely remove (which i've done).

Should i remove the 4 accounts completely? What should i keep so i can log on afterwards. I have some excel files on the new w& pc that i can park elsewhere while i'm doing the easy transfer.

User Accounts Easy Transfer

I will be using easy transfer to migrate all the possible files from our xp machine to a new windows 7 machine. I have been using the w7 computer offline for a course i am taking and set it up with the same 4 user accounts we have on our xp machine with the same names. If i choose to transfer "everything" including user accounts will the prior existence of those accounts cause problems with easy transfer? Will it try to create alternate user accounts?

I have a few empty test folders under three of the accounts since i had some problems setting up the accounts initially. My account contains a folder with a number of files for my course but i plan on copying them to a flash drive "just in case" they get clobbered by the easy transfer process. While i'm at it, should i install my program files after the transfer or before or doesn't it matter?

Easy Transfer Error Message

I am trying to transfer files from my old computer (os windows 7 32 bit) to my new computer (os windows 7 32 bit) using easy file transfer. I have set up homegroup on both computers. I am transferring to my asus computer(eetop all in one) has two hard drives on it. One is labeled win7 (c:) and the other data (d:) the old computer also runs windows 7 32 bit.

When i attempt to change the map drives on the asus to the data (d:) drive and press the "save" button, i get the error message: "the current drive mapping can't be saved", and below that: "make sure all drives are mapped and that each drive has enough space for the transfer. " I do not understand how to make sure the drives are mapped. I have tried going to "computer" and then to "map network drive", but there is no "d" drive listed on the dropdown. What must i do to make my file transfer successful?
