Mouse And Keyboard Problem

Im having a problem with my mouse and keyboard on my desktop. I just upgraded my pc to windows 7 ultimate after using the trial version, once i installed my new version of windows, i got the new updates from windows update, after my cpu reset, my mouse and keyboard stopped working and im not quite sure what to do. I've got as far as doing a system restore from startup, and once my cpu loads the mouse and keyboard work for roughly 5 minutes before they stop working again, im really not sure what to do.

Un-install Keyboard And Mouse

I have a dell bundle mouse and keyboard (bluetooth), and dell monitor. On windows vista. The mouse is screwed up. So i need to install a new mouse and keyboard. I have a logitech cordless mx3200 laser mouse and keyboard to replace it with. My question is- do i need to uninstall the old keyboard and mouse before i install the new one? And how do you install anything if you have to uninstall the old ones first? How do you navigate without a mouse and keyboard to install the new one? Basically how do install my new mouse and keyboard? Please help. I would appreciate a step by step if anyone can help me.

Mouse And Keyboard Freeze

I have looked at several threads in the forum but i haven't seen a real answer to this problem. I have a wireless comfort keyboard 4000 and wireless laser mouse 5000 (mouse and keyboard set). I have a motherboard with the nvidia 630i chipset and nvidia 8600 video card. I am running win 7 pro x-64.

At seemingly random times my mouse and keyboard will freeze. Tasks appear to still run and my disk activity light in on. Sometimes the hdd activity light is solid and sometimes it blinks. I used to be able to clear the problem by pressing the sleep key on my keyboard but that does not work any more. Sometimes the mouse an keyboard will unfreeze but most of the time i have to reboot.

I found a reference to kb976972 concerning nvidia usb but that did not solve my problem. I found a reverence to using a usb mouse instead of a wireless mouse. I don't have a usb mouse and besides if it is a wireless mouse problem then microsoft should fix it. I found a reference to removing kb9980302 to fix the problem.

I saw a reference to running a "clean boot" to see if there is a driver causing the problem. I have seen a process for changing power management for usb hubs. What i haven't seen is an answer that everyone says has cured the problem. Lots of people are having this problem. Can someone from microsoft please resolve it?

Usb Mouse And Keyboard Disabled

I managed to disable mouse and keyboard somehow when working in the device manager. My computer (acer revo 3600) only has usb ports so i can't undo my changes. The usb ports and mouse&keyboard are working. They work when i'm in the bios. The usb ports are not completely shut off in windows, my usb wlan is working. I've tried this:

- Safe mode (and all other modes offered in boot)
- Plug in new (previously unconnected) mouse in safe mode and normal mode.

What can i do?! Options are quite limited when i can't change anything in windows (7 x64).

Keyboard / Mouse Compatibility For 7000

I purchased keyboard/mouse 7000 which is supposed to be compatible with windows 7. However, immediately upon inserting the installation disc i am told there are compatibility issues with this version of windows. I did a check for a resolution and was told that i would be notified when a solution is found. When - next week - next month? My money is tied up in this set and i can get no use from it. I bought it on line, which would mean packing it up, shipping it back and requesting a refund at my expense.

Wireless Keyboard And Mouse Problem

I'm a tech and decided to report this, since i've seen multiple complaints of the same matter on the same forums. Its a win7 64-bit ultimate. The keyboard and mouse is natural wireless egronomic keyboard and mouse 7000. Started having problems 2 weeks ago approx. I uninstalled and reinstalled the intellipoint and intellitype software. Changed the batteries twice. Resynced many times no damage or anything spilled has happened to the keyboards usb cable keyboard and mouse works good.

The keyboard and mouse works good on another computer with winxp. Matter of fact i'm typing this message with the keyboard in question. I think possibly a patch issued is giving problems with a wireless keyboards and mouse.

No Usb Devices Works Except Mouse / Keyboard

There are some threads here about non working usb devices. I read them all (i think) and tried all different kind of solutions but none is working. I have a hp ex500aa-b1u desktop. I used to have xp enterprise. One day the mouse and keyboard stopped working. I suspected some kind of virus and after a lot of work managed to start it in fail safe mode, backed up my files and then reinstalled xp.
Mouse and keyboard started working but all oter devices i put in (usb flash memory, camcorder, usb disk etc) just get the message "unknown usb device". I installed w7 enterprise instead but still have the same problem.

Is it possible that i had a virus that did something to my bios? I also have a built in usb disk that came with the computer. This disk is found after maybe 15 minutes after startup. But the speed when copying something from it is very slow. Maybe 700 kb/s.

Keyboard / Mouse Inactive After Monitor Goes Into Sleep Mode

I seem to be having a problem with both the keyboard and mouse going inactive after my monitor goes into a "sleep" mode and is "woke-up". The mouse works for a few seconds after that and then "freezes& if i unselected the "turn monitor off after 1 hour", then i never experience the problem. I'd like to select "after 1 hour" as i leave my pc on constantly. I have the most recent drivers for my monitor (acer al2216w), am using a logitech "access" keyboard and ms wheel mouse optical usb. The drivers for the keyboard and mouse were installed by windows 7.

How To Remove Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard Detection Driver ?

Ok i have a common problem with booting my pc under windows 7 64bit. It was all fine booting rapidly for the last month or so that i've had it installed. Then it started to freeze for several minutes (anything between 5 mins and about 10 mins) during boot time at the loading windows screen.

I have since then tried the various things to get it to boot normally again, including tings which should theoretically not affect it as they've all been there before this problem started and booting fine, this includes:

Looking at recent hardware changes such as hd's i've added. Changing the sata drives about (i've got 3) getting boot under msconfig to use the max cores (it's a quad core) & memory (4gb). Looking at the bootlog files (nothing leaps out other than i'm apparently trying to load a couple of the drivers twice - i've listed this mornings bootlog at the bottom of this message for reference). Recovering to a point about a month ago before the problems started in the hope that this will uninstall newer drivers that might be the problem, and this is where i noticed what i think might be the cause as this seems like the point it went wrong.

I had added a microsoft mouse and keyboard and the wu offered an optional update of:

Microsoft - other hardware - microsoft mouse & keyboard detection driver (usb)

After installing this i'm pretty certain that the boot slowed right down, so i've tried to uninstall it. Only i can't find a way of doing so. As when i do a system restore to a point prior to the driver installing and the problem occurring, it does not ditch the driver, just seems to keep it. I then uninstalled intellipoint for mouse and keyboard and re-installed standard ps2 mouse. At the same time i removed my microsoft wireless usb keyboard & mouse, all with no effect. I restored my system back to current again and i'm coming back to what i think the problem is which is the.

Microsoft - other hardware - microsoft mouse & keyboard detection driver (usb)

But with no obvious way or removing it, i can't confirm that. Other notable points: during the boot the hd access is constant so it's working like crazy. The keyboard will be unresponsive to things like capslock or numlock though for the first half of the wait the numlock light is on and for the second half of the wait the numlock light is off. I think my default setting is for numlock off.

Usb Mouse / Keyboard Drivers Failing To Install

I have a strange problem with mouse and keyboard usb drivers can anyone suggest any way forward?

I have a desktop computer running windows 7, upgraded using a custom install from windows vista. It has a pair of hard drives configured as raid 1 and a usb mouse and keyboard. I recently had to replace the power supply after the old one failed and ever since then at each startup of windows i get a message that it is trying to install usb drives for 2 keyboards and one mouse (i only have 1 keyboard!) By downloading drivers from windows update. The install always fails and after this i am unable to use the mouse or keyboard in any usb ports apart from the ones they were connected to when windows started.

Trying to connect any other mouse or keyboard to the other usb ports after windows has started again generates the "device driver software was not successfully installed" message and the device is not usable.

Other usb devices work fine - e.g. I can plug a memory stick into any of the usb ports and that installs fine and works perfectly.

I tried doing a manual update in device manager which shows 2 keyboards and a mouse under the human interface device section but each time i tried update driver i had a "file not found" error and the device disappeared from device manager. I could only get them back by doing a system restore.

I have tried a windows repair boot, a chkdsk, a sfc /scannow and even a full system image restore back to before my power supply failed but none of these acions have made any difference.

I'm considering a full reinstall of windows 7 but this will be a pain as there will be quite a few applications to reinstall and i don't know for sure if it will fix the problem.

Can anyone suggest anything else?  Is it possible to manually copy / check / replace the exact driver files for usb keyboard and mouse?

Usb Keyboard / Mouse Not Working After Upgrade To Win7

Upgraded vaio vgn-fz290 to win 7 from vista. Have ms digital media pro keyboard and wireless intellimouse explorer 2. 0. Both work fine if i use them on another computer, and worked fine on the vaio before upgrading to w7. When i plug them in they do not show up in the "safely remove hardware" or under usb devices, keyboards or mice in device manager. When i plug the keyboard in the "f" function light comes on for 1 second and then goes out. When i plug in the wireless receiver for the mouse no lights come on.

Basically the computer acts like nothing is even plugged into the usb. Tried every usb port, same result. Also used my usb flash drive successfully in each usb port, so it is not a bad usb port. No splats show up in device manager. I have also tried an old usb keyboard, and get the same result. If i open "safely remove hardware" i see all other usb devices plugged in, but not the keyboard or mouse.

I have installed the w7 drivers from ms and no difference. I have uninstalled the drivers, no difference. I have uninstalled my primary laptop keyboard and rebooted, still won't recognize the usb keyboard. I can plug the keyboard and/or mouse into my mac mini server and it works like a champ.

I am utterly clueless on what else i can do and hate using a small keyboard and track pad at my desk.

Usb Mouse / Keyboard Stop Working Correctly

I originally had windows vista x64 on my computer (it is 8 months old, intel quad core 2. 0ghz, 6 gb ram etc). I installed windows 7 rc in july (clean install) and used it until 2 weeks ago, when i installed windows 7 professional edition (i reinstalled vista and then installed the windows 7 upgrade using the clean install).

Over the past few days, i have had problems with mouse and keyboard (both usb connected). The inputs start acting bizarrely. For example, using the scroll button in firefox causes the font sizes to change in firefox, instead of scrolling, and clicking on links opens the link in a new windows, not in the same window. Right clicking stops functioning. The keyboard input goes simultaneously strange- i can no longer type (for eg in firefox search boxes, or in wmp), of if i type, it uses another command to open something etc.

I do not understand what is going on! However, after rebooting, the problem goes away and everything works fine, until the next time it happens (has happened 3x now). I have tried my mouse and keyboard in my old laptop and they both seem to work fine. I have not receive any driver errors/ virus messages/ malfunction(bitdefender 2010) messages of any kind, and as far as i know, all drivers are up to date.

Does anyone know what is going on? Is there something wrong with my motherboard? And if so, why are there no error messages? And why do things work again after rebooting?

Ms Wireless Keyboard / Laser Mouse 5000 Intermittent Problem

I have an intermittent problem with my ms wireless keyboard and laser mouse 5000. Windows is not recognizing the receiver in "device manager" and will not allow any updates due to compatibility issues. My ms wireless has worked then when i re-boot, it will not work. I cannot find anything consistent about the problem so i can't troubleshoot the issue.

The only consistent thing is that when the device manager is reading a failure on the receiver, i can change ports and it doesn't change anything. I tried removing the drivers, and installing new drivers but nothing seems to help. What do i do to get win 7 device manager to recognize my wireless keyboard and mouse receiver?

Wireless Mouse 5000 & Wireless Keyboard 3000 V2.0 Not Working

Bought the above package items and using it fine for a few months(2-3 months). Wireless mouse just don't work suddenly. Tried removing battery and then putting it back, it works. A few minutes later, mouse not working again (i notice no blue light at the bottom of mouse). Try again removing and putting back battery, it works again. But it lasted again for a few minutes.

That was the solution till one day(2 weeks ago), no matter new battery or removal and putting in batteries, the mouse did not work. I had to revert back to wired mouse and keyboard. But today, trying my luck, i connect up the above wireless keyboard/mouse, it just works again. Please advise these peculiarity hardware issue on this ms wireless mouse 5000. Should i sent for replacement. If yes, where should i go to in singapore.

Plugging Usb Keyboard & Mouse Into Different Usb Ports

I have a usb keyboard and mouse. Recently, i had to relocate my computer, so the keyboard and mouse were unplugged. My question is: if i plug the keyboard and mouse back, but not into the original usb ports, will this cause windows 7 to create a new hardware profile, or any other registry changes as a result?

Mouse Scrolling Stuck With Wireless Mouse

I have a labtec wireless optical mouse for notebooks. It causes scrolling to involuntarily occur with sliders and drop-down boxes as long as the mouse is hovering over the item.
For example:

1) when i signed up to these forums and had to choose a country the mouse scrolled through the list right to the bottom without my intervention (other than selecting the drop-down box). Almost all drop down boxes tend to be effected regardless of what program it is in.

2) if i try to adjust the volume in the system tray the mouse raises the sound even while i am trying to lower it.

3) in certain programs the mouse will scroll through the page automatically. It does not do this with all programs. Chrome, ie, firefox, acrobat, notepad and many others are not affected.

4) i did not have these issues with xp at all, but i did when i used ubuntu (mouse would cycle through tabs and always cycle to the first box on the ubuntu taskbar. I had to alt-tab to change windows. )

5) when i first installed chrome the mouse would automatically scroll through the tabs to the first one even if all i did was hover over the tabs. I could could only properly select another tab if i clicked it and then moved the mouse from the tabs quickly. I did this which fixed the issue: "the document suggests changing some registry values to disable this high resolution behavior.

5 Button Mouse Acts As 2 Button Mouse

I have been using the microsoft wireless laser 8000 mouse (4 buttons & scroll wheel) without any issues under windows xp and windows server 2008 r2. Unfortunately, i am not able to get the extra functions (left, right buttons and scroll wheel) to react at all. I have the latest intellipoint 7. 0 64-bit installed. I have uninstall and reinstalled the software, uninstalled the software and did a "clean" boot to install the software, without success. How can i fix this problem?

X6 Keyboard Issue

Recently purchased above keyboard and have noticed after a coule of weeks the #7 key at top of keyboard appears to stick down. Ie hold #7 key down and will repeat at a much faster rate than the other keys, almost 3-4 times as fast. If the plastic key is removed and i use a pen to hit the sensor it works correctly. Do you think it needs to be returned under warranty or is there something which i can do? I thought the key itself might be holding the plastic cover on teh sensor down longer than normal, but its position is consistent with all the other keys. I have checked for dirt etc under keys but all clear.

Changing Keyboard

I have a laptop with a japanese keyboard. I am running an english os. I have gone to control panel. I clicked the change keyboard. I added languages so that i have both english and japanese and both languages keyboard options installed. The ime too. When i press alt and shift, the language bar does change between en and jp. The language bar also indicates that the keyboard has changed too.

However, even when the language bar says the language is japanese and that the keyboard is japanese, the pc still types as if configured for an english keyboard. I have also tried typing with the default input language set as japanese, and then tried it set as english.

Does anyone know why, despite following all the steps; despite having text services and input languages indicating that under installed services that english and japanese input devices have been added (and yes, i pressed apply); and despite having a language bar that does switch between english and japanese when alt+shift is pressed, that nothing changes and the key board still behaves as an english (us) keyboard?

Brazilian Keyboard

I just received a new computer with windows 7, and i'm trying to get a brazilian keyboard to work with it. My old computer was xp, and this same keyboard worked fine. I set up a different language for when i was using this keyboard, and it would let me use all the keys (i don't remember what was the keyboard layout that i used).

When i try and set it up with windows 7, however, there is no keyboard layout that matches my layout. The abnt and abnt2 options look the same, and both are missing two keys. My keyboard has the to the left of the z, and the / to the right of the ;. Is there some error with how windows 7 has set up one of these keyboards?

Login Using Only Keyboard

When i leave my work desk i have to lock my station, i do it very often so i would like to login faster - by using only my keyboard. Is there a combination of keys that would get me straight to the password box? When locked the monitor says "swipe your finger" (i can't use my fingerprint reader at that point because the lid is closed, i'm using external keyboard and monitor) when i try ctrl+alt+del nothing happens, esc key works by displaying user icon and the button "switch user".

I must point the user icon with the mouse to reveal the password box, there is apparently no way to change focus to that icon from the keyboard (tab doesn't work). It's annoying that i must grab my mouse every time i want to unlock the workstation.

Using Keyboard In Win 7

I'm not visually impaired, but i prefer to use the keyboard more than the mouse. I am finding win7 to be very cumbersome to use with the keyboard. I know there are tons of new logo key combinations-i think i've tried them all-but it is still very difficult for me to move around explorer using the keyboard. Seems like everything takes 2 or 3 more keystrokes than it did when i used xp. How are other "keyboarders" or even visually impaired users coping with win 7? Any ideas on working more efficiently with the keyboard?

The @ Key On Keyboard

I have just bought and started using a netbook. I've got windows 7 running and have installed office 2007 professional. The keyboard layout is qwerty. When i use the number 2 key to add the @ symbol to what i am writing, i get speech-marks (") and visa versa with the speech-marks key i get an @.
The number 3 key give a pound (£) symbol instead of the hash. I have been to the control panel to check the region and the keyboard settings, but it all looks normal. Is there a way of changing these keys to they way they are printed on the keyboard?

No Keyboard Input Available

There is a user who started having problems this morning. The machine is 1 week old, loaded with windows 7 ultimate 64bit. The keyboard is dead, the only thing i'm able to do is turn the f-lock on and off nothing else responds. I tried plugging in another usb keyboard and then a ps-2 keyboard and neither work. When i was finally able to use the on screen keyboard to login i found in device manager there was an error 19 for the keyboard saying that driver information in the registry had become corrupt so the device couldn't be started.

So i look that up and find that deleting the upperfilter in the registry was suggested. So i deleted the upperfilter and rebooted and still no keyboard. I can use the keyboard in the bios and to select safe mode or normal mode but once windows starts the keyboard is dead. I've also noticed that everytime i reboot along with the usb keyboard and mouse a ps-2 keyboard and mouse is installed in the device manager with exclamation marks. I've restored to earlier times when everything worked and still no keyboard. Any ideas?

Keyboard Drivers Becoming Disabled

Keyboard *drivers* becoming 'disabled' (1st usb, then ps/2); show "!" In hw-lst, but win-diags find nothing wrong. This is a most peculiar problem. First my usb kbd driver went dead. At first i didn't notice it, as i was using the mouse, primarily, for input, but remember a hw-rejected sound from windows earlier upon logging in.

My keyboard wouldn't do anything. No led toggles - etc, but on another machine, fine, and on same machine 'fine' - until windows comes up, then kbd goes dead (once bios drivers are no longer driving kbd, likely).

Under keyboards, the hid keyboard driver showed a small yellow triangle with an ! In it.

After trying  reinstalling the driver (its the stock ms driver), upgrading it (no upgrades), repair ("nothing can be found wrong, maybe the driver is corrupt", but file kbd_hid.sys, checks out w/valid ms sig), i decide to hook up a ps/2 keyboard. It worked for all of maybe 20 seconds. Then a low hw reject message as win7 disconnected my ps/2 kbd! Unbelievable! Now both my hid kbd driver and the 'standard ps/2 keyboard driver show up with the yellow triangle with a "!" In it. But i can't figure out what's doing wrong with the.

I also tried system restore to day before any of this happened - no go. I figured going back further would be a waste, since the start of the problem was rather clearly defined.

I *thought* i had caused it when i tried to enter a sw policy restriction to forbid 'wisptis.exe' from executing - (the onscreen digital ink input dealy) - for two reasons - it kept getting in the way and i couldn't figure out how to get it to turn off (i wanted to use my tablet's native drivers, but wisptis was interfering and making the tablet good for nothing but digital ink (handwriting recognition as keyboard input)).

The final straw came when i was looking through my logs and found the security log (~20mb log) mostly full with security failures from wisptis.exe (i turned on monitoring of security failures, only, thinking that failures, should be rare in properly acting sw, and this software was clearly violating win7's own security policy!).

It was after i added the policy that the usb keyboard went dead.

But that policy went away from the first 'backstep' (system restore point) - but the keyboard didn't come back. After that it was downhill for the ps/2 driver. So, to be clear, the policy is not in the security panel - it was back to pre-init state (no sw policies in effect) after the 1st system restore. So that 'had' to be coincidence. But it felt oddly coincidental, that the only 'keyboad' type inputs left to use on the system were the on-screen keyboard and the digital-ink keyboard. (Mouse paths/drivers are unaffected).
