Sound Card Crashing On Microphone Use

So basically, i can listen to music on itunes and use sound in any program around, until i began to use my microphone. I can use chat on aim and skype, but the second i start a voice chat with someone, my sound crashes until i restart my computer. I've run both self-help tools from the website, and i can't provide you with what sound card i'm using because 1. ) I forgot where to search. 2. ) When i finally did find it a few times recently, it said no sound card could be found. I know that to be untrue, but how do i go about fixing it?

Microphone Sound Not Detected

Microphone issues i recently got a hp computer with windows 7 installed on it, i got the updates, installed skype and when i went into a call, the other person couldn't hear my microphone, i know these things: it's not a problem with skype. It's not my mic, as it worked on the previous computer. Yes, the mic is unmuted, and plugged into the correct jack i've looked at all of the troubleshooting guides, and the only result i have received from any of them is a loud screeching sound from my mic when i click "listen" in the control panel>sound>recording>microphone area.

I've downloaded and installed any updates that the trouble shooting guide suggests i do. Yet still nothing. All i'm getting is the same screeching noise that i wasn't getting before, i checked all the mic settings and it's enabled, unmuted, and the computer says it's getting the signal from the mic, i even did a troubleshooting check and it said it found no problems. And again, i know for a fact it's not the mic itself because it was working on the previous computer, and while i was changing computers no damage was done to the mic.

Microphone Not Picking Up Any Sound

I recently got a new dell studio 17 laptop with windows 7. I like to game alot so i have a headset with a microphone. My computer does not show the microphone picking up my voice, or any sound at all. It is plugged into the correct jack, i have turned the levels up and down and the db as well. I've made sure it's not muted, and it still doesn't pick up any noise. I've also made it the default device and default communications device and still nothing. Even tried, disabling the built in microphone on my computer to see if that was interfering. Still doesn't pick up any sound. .

Only the default sound and the magic jack phone show up in the sound box, when you go into control panel and click on sound it pops up. I have restarted the pc and even tried to refresh devices but nothing.

Sound Card And Wireless Network Card Conflict

I installed windows 7 custom (from xp) and my dlink dwa552 card connected immediately. The next day, i downloaded the drivers for my creative sound card, sb - xfi and after re-booting, the wireless would not connect. I disabled the sound card and still could not connect. Disabled the wireless and enabled, it connected correctly. Then i can enable the sound card without losing the connection, however, if i lost the connection, it would not re-connect. Any ideas how to trouble shoot this?

Creative Sb0490 Usb Sound Blaster External Sound Card

My external sound blaster card sb0490 works on my xp machine. When connected to my windows 7 machine almost everything except creative mediasource player gives the error message "the audio device supported by this application is not detected". The mediasouce player works ok.

The driver is usb_w7drv_lb_1_01_0099. The usb bus controller is "usb composite device" using driver file usbccgp.sys version 6. 1. 7600. 16385 (win7_rtm. 090713-1255). An update search confirms this driver software is up to date. The windows 7 compatibility center reports "information coming soon" for this hardware. Has anybody a solution?

Win 7 No Sound - Creative Sound Card

After upgrading to windows 7 i have had no sound. My system says that there is an onboard audio device, sigmatel high definition audio. Which when checking the sound configuration as suggested by another post, it says it has no problems when troubleshooting, and it has sound going to it (as indicated by the sound meter), however no sound. When i switch to the creative sb x-fi sound card, which is the one that i have sound jacks for, there is no sound going to the speakers.

I have tried disabling the integrated sound card (sigma tel) in the bios as well as in the device manger, no luck on any option. I have downloaded the latest drivers for both the sigmatel and the x-fi, with no luck on either occasion.

Sound Blaster X-fi Sound Card Not Detected

My pc is just over a year old and works fine in all respects with visa 32 bit. The sound card is a sound blaster x-fi and 5. 1 speakers, 2 gigs of memory and quad core. I shrunk the drive to create a partition etc and installed windows 7 in the new partition ( installed this whilst in vista and not from a boot sequence. Booting from the dvd hung at the blue screen with no options to continue). Anyway the installation went fine and boots in to windows with no problems. Except the sound card was not detected.

Using the original driver disk does not update anything, i.e. Pointing to it whilst in update driver mode. Installing from the disk fails at the drivers part of installation on 15 or so dll's. After which in the sound section it now says no audio devices are installed. Before the installation there was one item in this secion, a spdif icon. There was no sound though even though this item was present. Btw, onboard sound is de-activated in the bios.

Booting into vista form the option screen and all is working fine. Any ideas would be most welcome. I have one other small problem when i try and run an online game (eq) it throws up an error message saying cannot access memory at 0x00000044 and promptly closes down when the ok box is clicked. Other than this i like windows 7.

Sound Card Keeps Turning Off

If i leave my computer with no sound coming through for more then about 5 min and a sound comes through my speakers will pop as if the speakers has just been pluged in and after about a 20 sec delay i get the sound that was meant to be played. When it does this it causes what ever program that wants the sound to be played ie firefox for a web video to temporary freeze until the sound starts playing. To me it sounds like the computer is discovering that a sound card is not in use and turning it off to save power or processing power or what ever but i can not find out how to stop it from doing this.

Win 7 Misidentify Sound Card

I installed win7 professional 64 bit on a clean partition of my win xp computer, as a dual boot configuration. Everything installed fine with the exception of the sound card. It is a creative soundblaster x-fi xtrememusic, model sb0460. In device manager it is listed as a "multimedia audio controller" instead of a sound card.

I downloaded and tried to install the latest 64 bit drivers from creative, but it failed because it could not "find" the card. Attempting to manually install a generic driver from device manager fails because creative is not even on the list of manufacturers. When i ran windows 7 upgrade advisor, it found no problems and indicated that the sound card was compatible. It runs flawlessly in xp, so i am stumped as to a solution.

5.1 Sound Card Wont Work

My dell inspiron 1525 came with vista and has a sound card that supports 5. 1 surround sound. I had to replace the hard disk as it became corrupt and so i installed windows 7 at the same time. However now i can't get 5. 1 - windows doesn't recognize that my card is capable of supporting 5. 1 as it doesn't come up as an option. 5. 1 is achieved on this model by inserting 35mm jacks into  both the stereo channels and the microphone jack which is then adapted to act as a 5. 1 output. How do i make this
Work in win7?

Associate Sound Card To An Application

How to associate a sound card to an application? Associating a sound card to an application. I have 3 sound cards in my pc. One for my hi-fi (through a decent amp and speakers), one for the desktop speakers, and one for my headphones. I want to be able to associate certain apps with a specific card. Itunes, winamp and wmp need to put sound through the hifi card, system and the kids' games through desktop speakers, my games through headphones (moh, cod etc).

The volume mixer shows the apps currently playing sound on a card, but the only way to force an app to use a certain card seems to be going through control panel, making the device the default, launching the app, then changing off default after i'm done. Very frustrating. Is there any way to assign a card to an app? Winamp lets me do it internally, but most apps won't.

1. Can i run the sound card in compatibility mode on windows 7?, Or  2. Can i install windows 7 on an external hard drive and run it in a dual boot system? Or 3. Is there another solution besides buying a new sound card.

Will Dell E1405 Sound Card Work With Win7?

I installed the rc on my pc and it had all kinds of problems recognizing the sound card. Eventually (i have no idea how it happened) it found it and seemingly worked until the middle of a song and then said it didn't recognize it again. But i downloaded the latest upgrade advisor and was told that it will work with no additional work on my part. So did msoft add to the driver support for sound cards?

Btw: my system is a dell e1405 laptop with a sigmatel high def audio codec (no idea what the actual sound card is. ) It was shipped in february 2007 with vista home premium. Upgraded to 2 gb ram, 120 gb hd, cd/dvd burner etc. I appreciate all help offered.

Is "stereo Mix" Install Into Updated Sound Card Drivers ?

I just recently upgraded my cpu sound card software, and i noticed that the "stereo mix" option that was in the previous installs was not in the updated software. I use the "stereo mix" option to sometimes broadcast music through my computer during a live broadcast, at times. I feel as i won't be able to this feature any longer.

The sound card my cpu has is realtek i upgraded to version 2. 36 from version 2. 16 or 2. 26 i believe and these upgrades both had the "stereo mix" is there anyone to bring back the "stereo mix" with the upgraded software, or do i have to downgrade back to the older versions.

P. S. The other versions was vista based but still worked with windows 7, but had a few problems so i googled and found that realtek had made this software for windows 7.
