Internet Download Manager Trial Period Is Over

In march i bought an e-machine with windows 7 home premium installed. Yesterday i started getting a message that says internet download manager has not been registered for 30 days. Trial period is over and and idm is exiting.

When i click ok another box pops up telling me "lease enter your registration details in the corresponding fields and push ok button i enter my name, email address and serial number. I enter the serial number off of the sticker and i get another box telling me: you have entered incorrect serial number. Please don't mix 0(zero) and o (ou) i and 1 while typing your s?N! Cut and paste your s?N! Where do i cut and paste this s/n from?

I t also wants me to buy a download manager. Masybe i'm just another stupid consumer but i thought that was why i was buying home premium how do i get my internet download ability back?

Ie Download Manager Feature

This might be more of a suggestion for a future feature in microsoft internet explorer, but is there any sort of download manager available in the ie8 browser? Something along the lines of getright, such that it resumes downloads if they time out or have to be paused?

I think it is odd that we have exponential increases in hard drive space and online data storage, but ie still stalls when downloading or uploading files. I am taking an online class through my university but i am unable to download files very easily because ie8 keeps stalling and ending the download early, sometimes also being unable to resume it even when i try to re-download the file immediately. I was hoping getright would solve my problem but my school uses a forwarding procedure to download the videos (e.g. , Clicking the link downloads "download. Mov", which then changes to the actual file link "class. Mp4"). I am unable to find the full link for class. Mp4 and so am kinda in limbo for now.

Does ie8 have any sort of built-in download manager or have one available as an add-on?

Flashget Download Manager Problem

I just got a new computer with windows 7 home premium and have run into problems with download managers. I tried to set up flashget but it won't let me drag and drop links into the download manager and when i click on them individually it just bings straight away without downloading the archive. I thought it might be a compatibility issue with windows 7 and flashget but i've tried a couple of other download managers now and faced the same problem. Is there a setting i need to change or if anybody has any advise of insight it would be much appreciated.

Backup - The Semaphore Timeout Period Has Expired

"the semaphore timeout period has expired. " While creating a backup on a secondary local drive. Either timed backups, or manual backups to f: results in "the semaphore timeout period has expired. "  I'm not trying to backup to a network drive, f: is a local drive with over 303gb.

Edit: i now understand it's trying to read from remote shared folders while trying to make the backup, but i don't care for that, i just want local things backed up.

Error Norton - Operation Returned / Timeout Period Expired

I've a new alienware pc with windows 7 ultimate. I put norton antivirus 2009 on it and performance went poor. I uninstalled norton using its complete uninstall utility. I then installed microsoft security essentials. I now cannot get windows defender to run. I suspect norton turned it off & did not clean up after itself.

When i try to start it from the control panel, it reports that it is turned off. When i click the provided link to turn it back on, i am now getting an error code " operation returned because the timeout period expired 0x800705b4" i've searched ms answers on that code without finding any information i could use.

Trial Version

Is there a trial version of windows 7 available? If not, would i be able to install 1 licensed copy on multiple computers using the same hard drive without activating it to test the different computer systems to see which ones needed to be replaced? Example: 6 dell computers ranging from 2 to 5 years old all running windows xp professional. I take a copy of my windows 7 and a spare hard drive to computer a. I remove the existing operating hard drive and replace with the spare hard drive in it's place.

Clean windows 7 installation, drivers, programs. Then i work on the machine for 15 to 30 minutes as normal to determine if the computer system needs replacement or not. Once i am finished, i remove the spare hard drive with windows 7 on it placing the windows xp drive back in. At the end of the day all computers are running exactly the same way as they were before i walked in the door.

I know i could use the windows 7 upgrade advisor tool however, it would not give me accurate information since all the computers are only running microsoft office 2k3 (excel, outlook and word). They would all be running windows 95 today if it wasn't for the security issues - only reason for updating from windows xp.

Pirated Version For Trial

I have a computer designed for windows xp. However i'm highly considering getting windows 7. I had a application to see if i'd be able to run it, which it passed most the requirements. However like many know, even if you have the hardware, sometimes it doesn't quite run as smoothly as it should. Regarding this i've been tempted to download a pirated version of windows 7 to see if this computer could handle it to my expectations.

By doing so i understand that this is illegal. So, is there anyway for me to get a trial version? Such as this starter edition i've heard. If not, let's say i went ahead and downloaded the pirated version.could i just buy a valid product key online and use it on the pirated version and activate it?

Upgrade Trial Version

How can i upgrade a windows 7 trial version? I had vista home premium. Was having probs.computer would freeze, a lot. Took it to a repair place. They told me the motherboard was "going". I asked them to wipe the hd clean so i could possibly sell the computer for parts. I get the computer back, and it has a 90 day version of windows 7 pro on it. And the computer works fine. So i use the computer for three months, and more, but i need to activate windows 7 pro.

I have no key and i don't want to go back to the repair place. So, what do i need to buy, to be legal? And where should i buy it? And will i lose everything again when i install? Btw. No signs of motherboard problems at this point so i'm thinking the guy just was wrong. I'm willing to take the gamble, anyway, and buy windows 7.

Upgrade Win 7 Trial To Win7 Pro

How to upgrade windows 7 trial to windows 7 pro? I recently bought a computer with the 30 day trial of windows 7 home premium installed on it. I just purchased windows 7 pro and have received a product key, i was just wondering how exactly do i upgrade from the home trial version to the purchased version of windows pro?I was given two downloads, however, one was for upgrading from xp and the other from vista.

I tried using the windows anytime upgrade, but that requires i activate this home version first? So yeah, just wondering how i get from this home trial version to the bought pro version?I guess i should specify: when i run the windows upgrade i am told that i must activate the current version of windows before i can upgrade. And the windows pro key i got doesn't work for that. Lso, not sure if it matters, but i bought this version from 'the ultimate steal' student offer.

Installed Ms Office But Still Prompted To Install Trial Application

I installed my own office home and student 2007 application. Why am i prompted to still download the 6 month trial period software, too? I had no problem installing my own purchased copy of office home and student 2007 application on my hp pentium computer that is a windows 7 home premium. My browser sf internet explorer 8. But, when i tried to find a plain document all i could pull up was a spreadsheet. Then, i was prompted to install the 60 day trial that is already on my new computer. So, i installed that, too. Still no luck at finding a plain document template.

There was no option to list that i already own the software and that i don't need to purchase it at the end of the six month period. When i installed my own copy of the 2007 version i even entered in my product code. My question is, what do i need to do to just get a plain document template that i can use for correspondence? This is not a new software for me and i'm very familiar with it but for some reason i'm having no luck. I'll deal with the six month expiration when the time comes, i guess.

Can't Share Internet To Lan From Huawei 3g Internet Adaptor

I am in severe need of some help because i am about to go crazy trying to figure this out. I recently upgraded my mom's pc to windows 7 and i'm having trouble getting her network back in order. She has a huawei mobile broadband adaptor (3g), model ec168, that i'm trying to use to supply internet to her laptop and xbox360 via her router. I had it working for the last year when windows xp was still on her pc, but since installing windows 7, i can't get it to work. I'm using the same settings as i was before but i get nothing.
Here are the settings that used to work:

1. I enabled internet connection sharing on her 3g adaptor and shared it to the lan adaptor.

2. I set the lan's ip address to "192. 168. 0. 1"/subnet mask was the usual "255. 255. 255. 0" and the default gateway/dns server fields were left blank (since the pc was serving as the gateway and the dns sever).

3. I turned off dhcp on the router and set the router's ip to "192. 168. 0. 10"

4. I left the xbox360 and laptop set to "automatic"

With these settings it worked like a champ on xp, but i get nothing on windows 7. Also, everytime i turn ics "on" through the 3g adaptor, it says that it has assigned the ip address of "192. 168. 137. 1" to the lan. Not sure why but it does.

Security Updates Stop Internet Explorer From Connecting To Internet

All ie7 security updates i install (cumulative or not) cause ie7 to not be able to connect to the internet. I have to uninstall the security update in order to connect to the internet. I have windows vista 64, ie7 and cable internet. I have checked for virus's several time using microsoft security essentials and malwarebytes antivirus and it always comes back clean. I am also running windows firewall and have put internet explorer on the exception list as well as turned it off to see if that was causing it from connecting and it did nothing. Can someone please tell me how to fix this.

Wireless Internet Is Connected But No Internet Access

I just bought a new computer with os windows 7. As i was doing the set-up, it asked about the home wireless network and i identified it and entered the internet key. After the set-up was over, i cannot connect to the wireless network. It says connected and no internet access. It has the public icon and "unidentified network".

I have a "network error" window that keeps popping up that says "another computer on this network has the same ip address". I tried one of the solutions on this site to resolve it. I used the command prompt to release and renew the ip address and seems to not have worked. How can i get a valid ip address? And how can i make my computer recognize the home wireless network?

Display, Task Manager

Okay, so i somehow changed the look of my task manager and now it doesn't help me with anything. It was the regular task manager when i bought it then one day it was just different. The only thing that it shows when i go to task manager after (ctrl, alt, del) is (headings at the top) user, id, status, client name, session. Thats all it shows as headings at the top. Then at the bottom it has two buttons, disconnect, log-off. When i try and right click to get more options it only shows disconnect or log-off as options.

Task Manager Does Not Start

When i try to start the task manager by right clicking the activity bar and selecting start task manager i get an error saying the taskmgr.exe file can not be found. The path suggested is c:windowssystem32askmgr.exe. When looking in that folder the file is there.

If i do ctrl-alt-delete and select to start it from there i get returned to the previous screen without task manager or error. Ctrl-shift-esc has no effect.

I've tried running a copy of the taskmgr.exe that worked on another computer running 64-bit windows 7. I am running a 64-bit windows 7 on intel core2 quad (q8300) any ideas?

Boot Manager Is Missing

I'm having the same problem as others with the boot manager is missing error. I format my hard drive before every installation, but the only way that i can boot into windows is if i keep the system disc in the cd drive. If i remove the disc from the cd drive, i get this boot mgr missing error.

Microsoft has never built an os that performs, is stable, and has no errors. Why is microsoft so popular, when their operating systems quite obviously suck! I have a custom build, can't call anyone for support, and microsoft won't back the garbage that they sell with free support, why, because for one thing, they don't can't fix their own garbage, and for another thing, they are always overwhelmed with all the errors from their garbage. They've been building this garbage for years, when are they going to get one right?

Device Manager Error

A while ago, i needed to check on some drivers for an ir device and opened the device manager.
Sometimes, i have to do this regularly, but each and every time i try to open it, i get a message that says, "navigation the web page was canceled. " Then a message pops up that says mmc has stopped working. I am confused as to what is going because all other options/tools in mmc work except device manager. I have searched the internet all over for a solution, but can't seem to find a working one.

No Monitor Showing In Device Manager

I have a hannspree 28" monitor with an hdmi connection to an asus radeon 4890 graphics card. This set-up works fine in vista ultimate 32 bit in the screens default resolution of 1920 x 1200.
Ever since i installed windows 7 64 bit, in a dual boot scenario, i have been unable to get win 7 working correctly in normal mode, it works in safe mode but only at 1600 x 1200.

If i attempt a start in normal then the boot sequence stalls however i can open win 7 in normal if i remove the radeon 4890 from the display adapter element in the device manager. Win 7 installs the re-installs the 4890 but i can not get the correct resolution. With the latest ati drivers installed in the card there is no monitor showing in the device manager at all.
