Ie8 Will Not Open Email

I am running windows xp, sp3 and ie 8 on 3 computers with avg antivirus. I have had zero problems until the other day. On one computer i.e 8 is not opening my yahoo or google e-mails. I can get to my inbox but when i click on the e-mail the computer responds "loading" and then times out. I have firefox and chrome browsers installed on this computer and can access my yahoo & google e-mails normally. I can also access my e-mails via ie8 normally on the other two computers.

I tried uninstalling ie8 and did manage to do this after uninstalling sp3. I then tried installing ie 7 but could still not access my e-mails. When i uninstalled ie 7 i was able to access my e-mails using ie6 (but it is very slow!). I reinstalled ie 8 and sp3 on the computer and still no success. I prefer ie8 to firefox and chrome and would welcome any suggestions to troubleshoot this problem.

Email Client In Ie8

I was wondering on a fresh clean install of windows 7 build 7100 with default settings (nothing altered or changed) ie: no other programs installed except the drivers for the hardware etc. How would someone go about choosing the email client. I will explain a little more. When clicking in a link in a website to sent them an email a box pops up with this message.

Could not perform this operation because the default email client is not properly installed.

Ie8 - Cannot Email Hyperlink

I am in the process of trying to fix a problem with sounds on my home pc. I'm running w7 ultimate (32 bit) with all patches (including the infamous "bsod" one). In the course of diagnosing the problem, one suggestion was to reset ir8 to the defaults (tools/internet options/advanced). Most all the resulting changes i expected. However, one i can't get around. If i try to use the "send link via e-mail" function, i get the message:

"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run microsoft office outlook and set it as the default" i checked and every place i can look, outlook is the default and the pop3 account is defaulted as the sender. Any ideas where to look? Is it ie or outlook?

Unable To Open Email Attachments

I get this message everytime i try to open e-mail attachments: "this tab has been recovered. A problem with this web page caused internet explorer to close and reopen the tab" this appears for a few seconds and then the screen reverts back to my e-mail inbox. What i have tried: clear cache and delete cookies, enable every visit to page option, verify that active scripting and java applets etc. Are not blocked.

Tried using default settings. Nothing has helped!

I am running vista, ie-8 and using msn hotmail.

Recipients Cannot Read / Open Email Attachments

I am sending email with attachments using windows 7 and office 2007. The documents are saved in office 97-03 format. Some recipients receive files with the ending *. Dat which they cannot open. Others simply cannot see the attachments.

I have been using the same set-up on windows xp with no problems. Is there a simple solution here or something that i am overlooking?

Opening Different Email Accounts In Ie8 Tabs

My internet browser was changed to explorer 8. I don't know how i can explain this problem better. Before i had this new browser, i can work on two different gmail accounts by opening two different explorer windows (not tabs). But now that i got this new one, i can't do this anymore. Everytime i open a new window and go to gmail, the email i was working on the other window opens up and if i log off that account, the other window will do the same. I want it like before. How can i bring this back?

Ie8 Crashes When Sending Email Via Owa

I have a new lenovo x200 that came with windows 7 professional. When using outlook web access in premium mode via ie8, if i try to send an email, data execution prevention forces ie8 to close. (Basic mode owa works fine, but it's much less user-friendly compared to premium mode. ) I have seen some postings by other people who have had a similar problem, but nothing that others have discussed has worked for me. For example, resetting the ie8 settings hasn't helped. Is there anything i can do to make premium mode owa work on this computer? Premium mode owa worked fine on my old computer that ran xp and ie7.

Cannot Open Jpeg Files, Problem With Email Attachment

I have just started to use windows 7 and have encounter problems that is going to impact on my job as a teacher.

1 - i cannot open jpegs in win 7 - i can see them on the view but the error box tells me it can not open them - test question diagrams are usually sent as jpegs.

2 - i have some video clips as attachments in emails - i transferred them across to win 7 but i now can't take them off as win 7 doesn't recognize the file type so i can't even take the files off and reinstall xp while win 7 is being ironed out.

3 - gifs/animations no longer work in powerpoint in fact gifs or animation files are not working at all in win 7 - as i teach using powerpoint and the diagrams that are animated are used to explain concepts in physics and other sciences - this is a pain.

If anyone can solve this quickly with a patch or add on/or fill me in on what i 'm not doing right i will be relieved. If some one can fix no. 2 at least i can go back to xp.

Ie Will Not Open After Updating To Ie8

I recently reformatted my desktop pc and reinstalled xp home sp2. I have updated to sp3. I have just finished updating ie to ie8. I rebooted but, upon restarting, explorer did not open in the usual way. I selected my account to log in and my settings loaded but, when my desktop appeared, there was no taskbar and none of my icons. There was a small popup window about personalization of my browser settings (i'm sorry, for some reason i can't recall the wording) in the top left corner but, unfortunately, it hung and i had to reboot without shutting down properly.

Now, explorer starts as usual and, other programs seem to be fine but, when i click to open ie8, i get the little animated hourglass on my cursor for a moment or two - as though it is about to open - but then, it stops and nothing else happens. I would appreciate some direction on how to rectify the situation. I have to make do with a dial-up internet connection at the moment and so, if there's a way to fix it without downloading anything (simply because it takes a long time), that would be preferable.

Search Result, Email Items Won't Open

In trying to use the windows 7 desktop search i'm finding that certain results will not open. A recent search resulted in documents, folders and emails in the 'search result' display. The documents and folders would 'open' when i double click them however any email item will not open when i double click. There is also an option to right-click and select open from the context menu but still the selected email will not open. Any suggestions on why the search result will not open email items?

Attachments Wont Open In Ie8

Vista home premium, att.net/yahoo email, norton internet security.pdfs and word docs open everywhere, including web sites all accessed through ie 8. However, on att.net my email attachments will not open or save (word, pdfs). Uninstalled norton and they still won't save or open so i reinstalled norton. All was fine until a week ago or so. If i use mozilla and access att.net attachments open just fine.

Specifically i open the email, click on the attachment, norton scans (maybe through yahoo), says no viruses so i hit download attachment box, file download box opens and asks if i want to save or open, click either one and file download box opens with no info in time remaining boxes, etc. , Box just sits there with the graphics running and nothing happening.

Yahoo Mail Doesn't Appear In List Of Email Programs In Ie8

Yahoo mail doesn't appear in the list of e-mail programs in internet explorer 8 options although i have installed the latest version of yahoo toolbar. I have an e-mail account on yahoo. I want to use yahoo mail as the default e-mail program so it opens directly when i click on any e-mail link.

I went to this page: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/settings/settings-10.html

It says that i need to install the latest version of yahoo toolbar to do that. I have done that but yahoo mail doesn't appear in the list of e-mail programs in internet explorer options, there are only hotmail and outlook. I have contacted yahoo customer care and they told me that i have to contact microsoft support about this issue, and when i tried to do that, i found there is no support by e-mail, it's only by phone, and i like to use the e-mail one.

Anyone from microsoft support or community member can help me in my issue, which is to make yahoo mail appear in the list of e-mail programs so i can choose it as default email?

Ie8 Some Links Open, Some Don't

I am new to the forums and i need help with windows 7 ie8, version 8. 0. 7600. 16385ic. I have been searching the forums for a solution but can't seem to find one that will help me. I will try to make this brief with minimal background info. Recently upgraded from vista home premium to windows 7 home home premium on an hp slimline s3000f. 32-bit os & amd athlon 64 x2 dual core processor. I noticed this problem after the recent security update for ie8 on 3/30

When i try to click a link on a page one of 2 things happen. If i am performing a search and click on the link, it opens in the tab the search was performed in. If i am clicking a link that should open a new tab such as in a yahoo or hotmail email or as i am writing this question, there are links on the left side of the page that appeared as simular questions, nothing happens when i click the links. One other thing i notice is when i close ie8, it does not ask if i want to close all tabs and when i access again i get an message to restore previous page or close.

From what i have read about others having this problem, i've looked in my program files ie8 folder for "c:program files (x86)internet exploreriexplore.exe ", all i see is "c:program filesinternet exploreriexplore.exe". When i look at the target on the shortcuts i see the same thing. I changed the target to "c:program files (x86)internet exploreriexplore.exe " and tried to start ie only to get an error "not valid".

I also have a laptop that is running vista with ie8 and not having a problem at all with ie8.

Ie8 Won't Start / Open

So i've done a bunch of searching around and cant find anyone who has had the same problem i am having. Basically it is pretty simple. I click on any ie8 shortcut, the computer thinks for a second and then nothing. I went through the steps to disable (the ie8 "uninstall") the program and then re-enable hoping that would solve it, but nothing has changed. I am kinda at wits end because i cant download and reinstall ie8 on windows 7 and i cant get a previous version like ie7 because that isn't supported as well. 95% of what i do can be done on other browsers, but that 5% is driving me crazy. Any ideas?

Ie8 Extremely Slow To Initially Open

I have recently installed ie8. When i try to open it, it takes about a minute and a half to open. The homepage is blank. Once pen, it works normally until i try to open a new tab which again takes about a minute and a half. I have researched and tried various things including:

Re-registering two specific dll files
Disabling all add-ons
Resetting defaults

Resetting the security settings that is talked about in the microsoft fixing ie8 document
I uninstalled ie8 and tried 7 and had the same results. Ie 6 works fine. I have ran a virus scan and malware scan and the machine is clean.

Win 7 64-bit Doesn't Distinguish Between Ie8 64-bit And Ie8 32-bit

Windows 7 64bit doesn't distinguish between ie8 64 bit and ie8 32 bit when attempting to set a default browser using the control panel default programs 'associate' utility. My new windows 7 64 bit pc (luv that i7 920 intel cpu) came installed with both ie8-64 bit and ie8-32 bit (nothing more need be said regarding the absurdity of having to deal with this in the first place - i should have gone with the imac).

Anyway, ie64 bit lacks the flash player cuz adobe hasn't released a 64 bit version yet, per their website. So i can't use ie64 with xm online music stream (et al). Ie32, on the other hand, supports flash player, but won't successfully link to various embedded hypertext links, such as those embedded in an email. My initial solution was to use firefox, which served me well until an application from a local vendor will only work with internet explorer. Sigh.

I've used windows since version 2 back in the 1980s, have become stoic, and can emotionally cope with having to use 3 browsers to get the job done.

However, just for fun, my current burning question is, with two different versions of ie8 (64 bit and 32 bit) installed into windows 7, why doesn't the control panel default applications utility seem to aware of the fact that there are indeed two different versions installed? It lists firefox and internet explorer, but does not differentiate between the two flavors of ie. My goal was to set ie8 64 bit as the default browser temporarily to accommodate the vendor's application.

Fyi, by setting the default, i refer to: control panel | default programs | associate a file type or protocol with a program. Then scroll down to 'http' and click on the change program button. So in my case, firefox and only one instance of internet explorer, with no bit distinction, display as selection options.
