Crashes And Debugging - Bsod Ntoskrnl.exe And Driver Power State Failure

I have recently installed a ssd into my laptop and re-installed everything. I also switch the sata mode to ahci to improve the performance. But there is one problem that did not occur before is that after a long period of using the laptop, i cannot plugin any devices to the usb ports. Then i scan for hardware changes, and the finding window keep doing forever. So i try to shutdown and it fails to do so, after about 30 min it says bsod with driver_power_state_failure. This does not occur instantly when starting windows, only after a period of using. I have attached the sf diagnostic data.

I get these failures every few days. Please tell me what is needed to stop these from happening. I'd be glad to send one or more of the 'mini dump' files. I have quite a few of them.

Intermittent Bsod Driver Power State Failure

Used free win7 trial on my computer when it came out. Rock stable. Purchased win7 home premium and did clean install. Now plagued by intermittent (every few hours) bsod and reboots. Needless to say i am more than annoyed that the free trial version worked perfectly whereas the paid version does not work so well.

I get driver_power_state_failure bug check code 0x0000009f caused by driver ntkrnlpa.exe
Or alternatively caused by driver ataport.sys

Blue Screen - Bsod - Driver Power State Failure

Every so often my laptop (hp tx2525nr) will have a blue screen of death with the error message: driver power state failure. It also will also occasionally freeze up and the screen will become all jumbled with lines and stuff and i will have to do a forced shut down. Either one of these will happen about twice a week, sometimes even more than that.

I have tried updating my drivers multiple times but no luck. I used to have vista (x64) but did a clean install of windows 7 professional (x64) hoping that would fix my problem, but still no luck.

Multiple 9f Driver Power State Failure

I've recently had some issues with bsod's every couple days or so. I have added a ssd a few weeks ago and did a fresh install of windows 7 pro 64 bit. Shortly after that i started having this issue. I've read that it could be an issue with sleep/hibernate as i do use both of these features often. I have attached the zip file containing the dump files, driver info, etc from the sevenforums tool.

Crashes And Debugging - Black Screen After Login, Safe Mode Ok

My laptop seems to hang after the login screen, the screen either goes completely black or sometimes shows the desktop picture and an empty taskbar, but i am unable to do anything such as task manager. Leaving the system running for 10-15 minutes after trying ctrl-alt-del will bring up some error message, but i forget what it said, i'll try to get it again.

I can get into safe mode just fine, and ran the sf diagnostic tool from there, i have attached the files it created as requested. The laptop hung on me on shutdown before this issue started and after waiting for 30 minutes for it to try to shut down normally it wasn't responding so i had to power it down. I'm thinking that might've fudged something up but i'm unsure if there were any windows updates queued at the time or not. I'm really unsure what to do at this point, there aren't any system restore points, i didn't remember turning it off but i must have at some point.

Power Failure During Boot Time

I have a hp system that was upgraded to windows 7 home premium x64 from vista using the hp upgrade dvd. Everything worked fine until yesterday. The system restarted after a needed system update and by mistake i hit the power button during boot time. I press the button again to start and the system just does not want to boot. I have tried changing to onboard video on bios setup, system repair, system restore and safe mode but nothing seems to work. I also entered commands bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot

During safe mode it just hangs at ahcxi64s.sys and then it restarts again. The system repair log shows below:

Root cause found:

Unspecified changes to system configuration might have caused the problem

Repair action: system files integrity check and repair
Result: failed. Error code = 0x490

Usb Devices Not Working After Power Failure

I recently suffered a power failure while i was using the computer. After powering on again certain usb devices that used to work well before returned errors. All attempts to get these devices installed fail. For example, when i plug in my sennheiser usb headset, the item is correctly identified by name but  i get the error "the drivers for this device are not installed (code 28). This device did not come with drivers and before would plug and unplug it without problems.

When i plug in my microsoft transiever v3 for bluetooth, i end up with "the drivers for this device are not installed" (code 28). This item come with my microsoft wireless mouse. When i try to reinstall the latest software, it is unable to detect this item. Before it used to work without problems. My logitech usb keyboard returns an error as well, yet a ps/2 keyboard works. Usb pen drives are working well. I am under the impression that the device database got corrupted. Is there a way i can reinitialize it?

And i have to use the task manager to terminate the explorer.exe process and start a new one to get it function again. I wondered if anyone can tell me what the problem is and how to fix it.

Dell 546 Bsod Crashes

My new dell 546 has been crashing, resulting in the bsod. These are mostly driver power state failures, but a couple recently have been unexpected kernel mode trap. Under devices, the teredo tunneling pseudo-interface network adapter shows an error that it cannot start (code 10). However, the crashes occur when the device is disabled or enabled. I've tried updating the driver for the device, but the computer tells me that i have the latest driver. Don't know if this is related to the problem or not. Can anyone help?

Here is the minidump report:

On sat 1/30/2010 8:23:44 pm your computer crashed
This was likely caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe

Random Bsod Crashes Due To Driver_power_state_failure

Random bsod crashes due to driver_power_state_failure when pc left alone or in sleep. I have a dell studio xps8000, core i7-860, 8gb ram, nvidia gt220, win7 home premium 64-bit oem which, more or less since new, randomly crashes about once a week if i leave it alone and powered up for several hours or put in standby first. When this happens the pc is either fully shut down (& i then boot selecting 'boot windows normally' option) or has rebooted to login screen automatically.

According to recovery boot it is a bsod, and each minidump file looks like nearly identical to this, parameter 1 always 0x00000003:

Display Driver Crashes

I use a 6 months old xps dell 8000 with windows 7, 64 bit, with an nvidia geoforce gt220 video card. 1 or 2 times a day the monitor goes black and then restores with a message "display driver has stopped responding and recovered. Display driver nvidia windows kernel mode driver ?" This continues to happen for no reason, even though dell has replaced my video card 3 times. With dell customer service help i uninstalled and reinstalled the current drivers from the dell site previous drivers downloaded from the  nvidia site caused other problems which have been resolved. I would appreciate any guidance in resolving this issue which neither dell or nvidia want to claim as their fault.

Driver Crashes Flight Simulator X

Vista driver "uiautomationcore.dll" crashes flight simulator x. I get this problem whenever i run fsx, if, i am in a second or third flight, and if i use the mouse to right-click a menu around 18 times. I've tried replacing the dll with the windows 7 version and done tons of other things mentioned on avsim, but i can't get it to stop crashing. Vista's report-problem solution only tells me that i need to run windows update, since it's a system driver, but there's obviously nothing to update.

I'm running fsx sp2 (crashed with sp1 and stock also) and vista sp1. I am at a loss as to why this is happening to me since all the other people. I've found that have had this problem have had it only because they were running the beta of windows 7, and were able to fix it by getting the dll from vista and putting into their windows 7 installation.

I am running windows vista, and as such i can't downgrade to windows vista. I did try upgrading to the windows 7 version of the file, and then it still didn't stop the crashes. One person did recommend downgrading to the 32-bit version of the file since fsx is a 32-bit program, but it didn't fix it.

On a side note, i'm really surprised it would happen to this game since it was made by the same company that made my whole operating system. This does not happen in any other games, and they're 32-bit also.

Ati Driver Conflict - Display Crashes

I have an on going issue with my new system. At first i thought it was video/hardware related, but now i am leaning towards it being a conflict with windows. However, i have no way of tracking it down.

The issue: my screen will randomly die when running aero intensive applications, games, etc. Everything will run fine for a given amount of time (any where from seconds to an hour), but then the screen will clicker and the display will go out. On the screen i see a series of vertical white bars with a colors background. It does not appear to lock the computer up, as i still hear sound going in the background for a time; the computer will eventually reboot if i leave it alone long enough.

This is all running on a fresh install of windows 7 64x, upgraded from vista business 64. The temperatures on the card all read as normal, and there are no errors showing up in the event viewer after i reboot; outside of the 'unexpected shutdown' critical error.

When this first started happening i contacted xfx support for the video card. They had me uninstall the ati drivers, run driver sweeper, and reinstall the drivers. This seemed to fix the issue until tuesday, when windows update installed kb977074 - an update totally unrelated to video - and then the errors started happening again.

After a fit with system restore, i decided to format the drive and start over. Upon getting back in to windows 7 64x, i started installing programs one by one, checking after each install to see if i could create the error again. Everything was fine until i reached a program that installed the visual basic c+ 2005 redistributable package (x86). Once the error started to occur after this, i uninstalled the programs and did a system restore prior to the package installing.

The computer already had the c+ 2008 (x64) package installed, and worked fine once the 32-bit 2005 package was removed. However, most programs i want to use, and most games for that matter, require the 2005 package to be installed. So i re-installed it, and removed the 2008 package; thinking it was a conflict between the two (/straws), but that did nothing. The errors returned, and i an now back at square one, hiding on the last stable restore point of the system.

I am not sure if i am still dealing with a driver conflict, hardware issues or if the c+ packages are some how messing up my system. I am not putting much faith in the latter, because i do not believe the first scan with driver sweeper would of been so successful, only to be taken down later by a totally unrelated windows update file.

Nvidia 9800 Gt Video Driver Crashes

I have downloaded and installed the latest, within the last two weeks, driver and it still crashes at least once or twice a day. I am running win 7 64 bit with 8 gigs of ram and plenty of hard drive space. When my machine reboots and it goes for the windows solution it won't even complete that part saying that i need to be connected to the internet. I am on a wifi constant connection and i leave everything on 24/7/365. I do reboot from time to time when loading software or for other reasons but this is ridiculous. If win 7 was designed by me it would fix these problems not run me around in circles.

Netw5v64.sys Driver Issue Causes Bsod

I began getting the bsod randomly and frequently. In the time between yesterday until now, i have gotten nearly 30 bsod's. I know enough about computers to pinpoint the problem, and after debugging to the best of my ability, i determined that the driver netw5v64.sys was causing the crash.

Here is my pc info:
Dell inspiron 1525
4 gb memory
2. 4ghz duel core proc.
Integrated intel video card ~ 965chipset (i think this is correct)
280gb harddrive

The crash occurs at random, but only when i am accessing my wireless network adapter
Conditions that have changed that might have caused this:

- Yesterday around 2:00 i connected my computer to a netgear router. I live on a college campus that uses cisco security, but i wanted to broadcast my own wireless direct from an ethernet connection. I disabled dhcp and all router security. It worked and i was then able to connect through the wireless network i created into the school internet.

Other than this i cannot imagine what the problem is, and i cant seem to fix it. I have reinstalled, uninstalled, and updated all the wireless network drivers. I have check internet forms and i have found that a number of people running 64x windows are having this same issue!
