Missing Cd/dvd Device Driver

Win7 x64 boot disk results in "missing cd/dvd device driver ("a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing)". I'm doing a full install (custom) of windows 7 from a nec3520a cd/dvd and a dvd burned from the downloaded (twice) student file for windows 7 x64.

I am unable to get past the point of having "no apparent" driver for my dvd. As stated earlier, after i click "install" on initial screen (this is after the "loading files" screen which runs for a couple of minutes loading win7 files), i get an error screen saying "missing cd/dvd drive driver", then directions to install a disk/dvd/whatever with the driver.

If i just click next, it looks for a driver, doesn't find it, and then offers me a selection menu for different drivers( all of which are blank, there are no drivers listed). I then have an option to "rescan" for updated hardware, i suppose, or "browse" to go find the driver.

I have, and can't get any sort of driver for my nec3520, which i've been using for a couple of years now; it's supported directly by windows built-in drivers. Nec doesn't even provide a driver, for 32 or 64 or anything. I suppose this whole thing has to do with my "custom" install from a bootable dvd of the x64 version, but i can't find any way to get around it.

Required Cd/dvd Drive Device Driver Is Missing

Cannot install windows 7 64bit dvd from boot (a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing". I have a unmodified gateway computer model gm5632e utilizing the g33 express chipset from intel. I purchased windows 7 64-bit from a store and tried installing it. Every time i get to the setup it gives the generic error: "load driver, a required cd/dvd drive. Device driver is missing". I cant get anywhere else in the setup. I understand that there may be an issue with the sata drivers. I am also sure im not the only one with this problem. Any help is much much appreciated.

Error - A Required Cd/dvd Drive Device Driver Is Missing

Windows 7 upgrade ultimate 64bit from windows vista home premium 64bit - error with "a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing. I can see many posts for this problem, but the different solutions all confuse me. I am not a pc techie. I was trying to run windows 7 64bit ultimate upgrade from windows vista 64bit home premium on my pc. Before i ran windows 7 upgrade using the 64bit disk i bought from a retailer in sheffield england, i checked on the microsoft website and downloaded windows upgrade advisor.

This reported a number of minor issues, which i dealt with. It did not report any issue with my motherboard or cd/dvd device. I also downloaded easy transfer, but as i had recently rebuilt my pc i did not have many files to copy over so i have not yet used it. I have now rolled back the install, after getting very frustrated trying to obtain the "driver"some of the postings on the web suggest:buying an external usb cd/dvd device. I might do this and try again getting an update for ite it8211 ata/atapi controller driver - whatever that means usb install option involving ripping the disk into a iso image and then making a bootable usb stick.

Why on earth do i need to do this? Surely using a usb external dvd/cd device and putting into that the windows 7 upgrade disk will do the same job?More important what is an iso image? How do i create it? Why should i have to do this? This software has cost me gbp180. 00 when i bought it from currys retail store sheffield uk w/c jun 21st 2010, and i cannot get it to work. It is not at all satisfactory! I deliberately waited till now before buying to make sure a all the bugs were ironed out!

Obviously they are not!My pc was bought new from mesh in may 2009 and the build detail is:mesh desktop pc model xgs pii 955amd phenom ii x4 955 black quad core processor am3 3. 20ghz, 8mb cache ddr2/3asus m4a78-e mainboard amd 790gx hybrid crossfirex - am2+ phenom ii, ddr2- atx8192mb 800mhz dual channel ddr2 sdram2 x 750gb serial ata2 hard drive with 3mb buffer (1. 5tb) raid 0 configuration (stripe)samsung 22x dual layer dvd writer super format +r/-r/rw/ram this shows in device hardware as tsstcorp cddvdw sh-s223b scsi cdrom device.

The driver is located in c:windowssystem32driverscdrom.sys1gb ati hd4890 graphics accelerator hd 3300 gpu - hybrid crossfire xpcie gigabit lan controller featuring ai net 2 - asus m4a78 proi will also try to call microsoft support on 0844 800 2400 using access code 1233 when prompted. However, i wonder if anyone else who has had the same problem with a similar machine can advise how they sorted out the issue.

Setup Hangs - Required Cd/dvd Drive Device Driver Is Missing

Windows 7(ultimate) setup hangs: "a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, cd, dvd, or usb flash drive, please insert it now. " First my hardware i'm trying to get installed:

Gigabyte ga-ma790fxt-ud5p
4 wd5000aaks sata 500gb drives configured as raid5 connected to the sb750

When i start the setup, everything is fine until i hit "install now". Afterwards i'm delighted with 5-10 min. Of "setup is starting", which is followed by "a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, cd, dvd, or usb flash drive, please insert it now. "

After that i provide the "ahcix64s.sys" which is the proper sb750 raid driver.

I tried the versions from: http://america. Giga-byte.com/filelist/driver/motherboard_driver_raid_amd_sb7xx_bootdisk_win7-64bit.exe

And the one from amd: https://a248. E. Akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2. Ati.com/drivers/whql_sb7xx_raid_vista_3. 1. 1540. 127.zip

Both with the same result: "no device could be found. Make sure the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media"

Just a side note: i'm installing from a usb flash drive, which has worked already, when i connect a single sata drive in ide mode to the gigabyte sata chip (jmb322); however this is not my desired config, i need to run the system from the raid.

Dvd Device Driver Blocked - Unable To Use Device Code 48

I get a code 48 message. I have an intel d945psn board that has run w2000 on a eide hard drive. I upgraded to windows 7 with a new sata hard drive clean install, but transferred files with pc mover. Now my dvd burner(s) don't work citing the infamous code 48 and saying that the software for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with windows.

Aren't cd/dvd device drivers pretty standard, and included with the bios?  How do i deal with that problem. I have tried to update drivers through "driver access", but the problem persists. The device doesn't even show up in windows explorer or my computer, but can be seen in device manager and on the cmos menu. The same is true of my second, identical sata hard drive. It appears that some of my important system drivers have been blocked.

Load Driver - A Required Cd/dvd Drive Driver Is Missing

I tried to do fresh install of windows 7 ultimate 64 bit version (pls don't recommend 32 bit, as 64 bit support is the main reason for me to switch to win7) on my home pc and installer is requesting for additional driver. I've seen similar problems in other forum threads, however responses does not really help me.

My hw configuration is:
Msi p35 platinum + q6600 + 4 gb ram + few sata hdds + nvidia geforse 9800 gtx, i've downloaded all latest drivers from msi site. I even manage to extract drivers, which require installation (such as all inf drivers, etc). However, windows installer is rejecting all drivers (it allows to select driver but throwing "no new driver found" message after i press "next" button).

So, here is summary of my biggest frustration:
1. Why windows 7 installer rejects all latest drivers?
2. Why windows 7 upgrade advisor is saying that all devices on my computer are windows 7 compatible (on 64 bit report)
3. Why windows 7 installer does not mention device which requires new driver?
4. If microsoft is planning to run qa on its customers i'd like to get my fees!

Install Older Device Driver

The driver that windows 7 installs for my audio device (idt high definition audio codec) doesn't work on my dell latitude e6410. I have the latest driver from dell, but it won't install unless i run the setup. I don't want to run setup, because a) i don't think device drivers should have to be installed this way, and b) i want to integrate the drivers into my mdt/sccm installation for windows 7. (I think) the root of the problem is that the dell-provided driver has a new driver version, but the date indicates that this driver is older than what is included with windows 7.

When i attempt to upgrade my driver and browse to my 'new' driver, windows 7 tells me that the device is already using the latest driver. I changed the date within the inf, and even went so far as to change the files dates to be one day newer that the microsoft-provided driver, but i still can't update the driver. Ny ideas?

Cd/dvd Driver Issues - Win7 64-bit Pro Install

Cd/dvd driver issues in the beginning of windows 7 64-bit pro install. Installer will not let me move on until i find a driver for my dvd drive. The only drivers i can get to show up on the list are 64-bit drivers.

I'm upgrading from 32-bit so it won't let me use my vista cdrom drivers.
I have a sony optiarc rw ad-7170s firmware 1. 03 dvd drive
I created the bootable iso myself because of the issue with the digitalriver install
I burned the iso on 2 discs at 2 differnt speeds, didn't fix it.
Dvd is plugged into a sataraid pci card.

I'm almost sure it'll let me through if i can get my hands on the basic 64-bit cdrom drivers. I can't even find them online though.

Code 52 Driver Error - Lg Cd/dvd Drive Won't Install

I recently got a new computer. I am using windows 7. When i got it a couple of weeks ago the cd dvd drive worked fine. I have and lg super multi dvd rewriter 22x model gh22ns40. When installing a western digital external hd, i contacted wd customer service and the technician had me change some things and since then my cd dvd drive will not work. When i go to computer, the cd dvd drive is not listed. When i go to devices and printers and click on the pc icon the hard ware list shows the cd dvd drive with a yellow exclamation mark. When i pull it up the message reads, "windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"

I uninstalled and reinstalled the drive with no success. I down loaded the current driver from wd with no success. I tried a system reset for a date when the drive was working, and that didn't work. I can't use the instillation software that came with the drive because the cd dvd drive doesn't work. I am sure that there is a switch or button some place that needs to be changed to for this function properly, but i can't find where it is.

Upgrade Or Custom Install

I had my hard drive crash a few days ago and dell is sending a replacement. The system came with vista home premium installed and i upgraded it to windows 7 in oct. I know i have to reinstall vista first. My question is twofold. Will i need to download all the vista updates before upgrading to windows 7? And, since i'm basically starting from scratch (no worry about files, settings, etc. ), Would it be better to opt for the upgrade option or use the custom option for a clean install? Any and all advice is appreciated.

Programs Left Over After Custom Install

I did a custom install thinking it would wipe everything from my computer like windows said it would, but it did not. Of course, there is the old windows file, which was a really cool thing for microsoft to do. The problem is now when i go to uninstall or change a program it only lists programs installed after the upgrade.

But all of my old programs are still in my program files. What was the point of a custom install if nothing was deleted? Are those programs no longer in my registry or installed, and now i can just delete them from my program files? If not, how can i get what windows told me it would do, and clean my computer up by doing a true fresh install?

Custom Install Of Win 7 Fails

I have a full (not upgrade) copy of windows 7. The boot disk on my windows xp computer is in a removable tray, so i just removed the xp drive and put a new empty drive in the tray without having to open the case.

I proceeded to installing 64-bit windows 7 on the empty drive, including a pre-install of the disk controller drivers which allowed setup to see the drive. Everything went fine until the process got to "completing installation" and the computer hung. No keyboard or mouse activity was accepted. Both are wired, not usb, if that matters.

I reset the computer and tried to boot into windows 7, but it complained that the setup had failed and to try it again. I tried restarting the install 3 times and each time the "old" windows was saved to a windows. Old file, with incremented extensions. Each "old" folder is around 36 gb. I found this information by attaching the drive via usb to another computer so i could investigate what was on it.

I can't understand what could be causing the failure. I have recently done extensive testing of hard drive and memory with no apparent errors. Are there any logs of the setup on that drive that might explain the cause of the failed install?

Custom Installation Vs Upgrade Install

I'm planning on upgrading my vista 64 bit to windows 7 using my upgrade discs i got from hp. I'd like to make a clean installation rather than an upgrade install but there is a warning in the manual that if i choose to custom install, i may need to reinstall drivers that are not included in my discs. What does this mean? Does this mean that if i custom install windows 7, i may need to download programs in order to run my mouse, keyboard etc? (Sorry i'm an no computer techie).

Also just in general, is there a big performance difference between custom install and upgrade install?

In-place Upgrade Vs Custom Install

I have three ways to upgrade my copy of home premium to professional: windows anytime upgrade, in-place upgrade (install windows over windows) and custom install.

I have two goals: a resulting win 7 professional installation with maximum stability and reliability; and no 'left-over' folders and files. By 'left-overs' i mean any folders and files from home premium now rendered unnecessary by upgrading to professional as well as uninstall folders (to revert to home premium).

A custom install achieves both goals, but it means i have to reinstall, update and setup all my software all over again.

An upgrade installation leaves left-overs behind. (And the conventional wisdom is that a clean install offers the possibility of improved stability and reliability vs. An upgrade. )

How about windows anytime upgrade - does it achieve both my goals?

Vista Upgrade Or Custom Install

I'm trying to decide whether to do a vista upgrade or custom install to windows 7. I have a lot of programs/files that came originally with my vista computer or were downloaded through updates to my computer. I am not sure if they are necessary for my computer to run or not. My question is if the windows 7 upgrade is smart enough to only keep the necessary programs/filesor will my computer keep all of the vista files and use up unnecessary disc space? I hope my question makes sense.

Will Custom Install Format Hard Drive ?

Just need to know if windows 7 "custom" install will reformat my hard drive, or simply install a clean version of windows? I have xp right now and i want to do a clean windows 7 install, but i want to leave my data on the hard drive, like my pictures, mp3's, documents, etc. I don't care if it deletes all my installed programs because i want to re-install my programs anyway. I just want to know if the "custom" install option reformats the entire drive, that's all. Anyone?

Could Custom Program Files Location Be Specified Before Install ?

Could a custom "program files" location be specified before windows vista is install on a computer?

I'm a fan of running the windows operating system on low capacity high speed disks and off loading my programs and documents/data to other disks. This is a simple enough operation for the documents/data but there aren't a lot of options for the program files.

A popular windows "tweak" idea that gets close to what i want to do (if it actually worked) is tweaking the default program files location stored in registry so, as new programs are installed the default location given reflects the custom location specified.

The problem with this is the program file location values in registry do more then provide a default location for installing software. The programs that vista installs on the "c drive" during a normal installation need these keys unchanged if they're to be referred to correctly later on. So like many keys in the windows registry, they provide an answer to multiple versions of an inquiry and changing the answer tends to have further reaching effects then one might think.

So, as for solving this problem around separating programs from os, i see only two possible choices (neither of which i know how to pull off currently):

1. Make the change to the default program location before windows vista is installed (with a custom install disk or the like) so my custom program location is address from the get go, making every thing (windows programs included) install accordingly and insuring that there aren't multiple program locations to be confused over.

2. Some how, do some crafty registry work that would operate as follows: if a program asks for a default location to install a program, provide the custom location i specified, leaving the "programfilespath" and "programfilesdir" keys unaffected for the sake of the windows programs that by default exist on the c drive.

Apple Mobile Device Driver Issue With Mtp Device Driver

How do i get windows 7 to accept the 'apple mobile device driver' instead of the 'mtp device driver'? It is driving me nuts! Frequent itunes sync issues occurring. Suggestion is that windows is treating as a camera instead of ipod which makes sense given it asks me if i want to import pictures each time i connect the ipod. I need to get it to update driver from mtp to apple mobile but cannot get it to do it as it keeps saying no compatible driver in the file.

Cd/dvd Drive Has Gone Missing

I have a new computer with windows 7 professional 64 bit and everything was fine but now my cd/dvd drive has gone missing. It's nowhere to be found in explorer and if i insert a cd or dvd nothing happens. I tried the troubleshooter but it tells me i don't have a cd/dvd drive. It's also not listed in device manager. I'm a complete non-techie type of person but was wondering if my drive has just gone kaput or maybe one of the leads internally has become disconnected. The computer is only about 3 months old. I have done all the updates that have been recommended. I would love it if someone could give me some ideas about fixing this.

Cannot Access Cd/dvd Drive Missing

Hp dv6646us laptop upgraded to windows 7 - retail version 3 or 4 mos ago just noticed my cd/dvd drive is missing, it is not listed under the device driver i tried several online fixes to no avail. I plugged in my flash drive which is usually drive g and the drive g flash shows up and the cd/dvd drive e, also ! But the drive e (cd/dvd) shows the flash (again) as the subdirectory.

The usb flash drive works fine and is accessible but even though the drive e (cd/dvd) shows up in the device manager (when my flash is plugged in) i can not access the cd in the drive i am somewhat computer literate but afraid to mess with too much that i don't know anything about.
