Device Driver Not Installed For Unknown Device

After upgrading my various computers to windows 7 home premium, i am now getting the small yellow triangle icon on the computer icon in the devices and printer screen. After running the troubleshooter from the context menu the result indicates there is no device driver for an unknown device. Also in device manager under other devices there is an unknown device with no driver. How can i resolve this issue when i don't know what the device is?

Error - Unknown Device - Usb Does Not Recognize Garmin Device

Just recently, windows 7 home premium addition has stopped detecting my garmin device. Other usb devices such as my ipod work fine. I was able to get it to detect the garmin only a few times, it would try to install the drivers but the drivers would fail to install. The garmin was working a few weeks ago. Below is a list of everything i have already tried:

Rebooting (after everything i try)
- Turning the computer off and leaving it unplugged overnight
- Completely uninstalling all drivers and software associated with the gamin.
- Manually installing drivers
- Uninstalling the unknown device and doing a search for new hardware
- Uninstalling the unknown device and doing a search for legacy hardware (this produces a device not functioning (code 10) error)
- Reverting back to a restore point before the last windows update

Please, any help would be very appreciated. I am decently computer savvy and have always been able to fix any problems that i have. This one has had me spinning my wheels for days.

Unknown Device Driver

I recently upgraded vista hp 32 bit to win7 32 bit. When my laptop boots it start searching and trying installing some driver. It keep on installing unknown device. I don't know how to stop the process on installing unknown device, so i shutdown my laptop. When  restart, i could see many unknown device in device manger under "others".

When i scan manually i could not find any device. After deleting all the unknown driver. I again scan manually for device, again i could not find any. When i restart my laptop, it again start searching and keep on installing unknown device. No external device (mouse, keyboard, pendrive etc) is connected to my laptop. Can we stop automatic searching and installing of device at the time of reboot? Please give me some solution to get out of this loop and solve the problem.

Error - Device Driver Software Was Not Successfully Installed

Error device driver software was not successfully installed. This device cannot start (code 10) for cddvd drive. I am running windows 7 on a hp pavilion a1600n and sometime over the last month the dvd/cd drive stopped recognizing dvd and cds. It is opening and closing and spinning the disk when i put them in the drive, just not recognizing anything beyond that.

The device status reads this device cannot start (code10). From what i could find online code 10 was a hardware general purpose error. I have tried switching out for another dvd/cd drive and even switched out the cable inside to see if that was the error, it was not.

When i plugged the second dvd/cd drive in it tried to locate the drivers online and and informed me that device driver software was not successfully installed. I have been trying to find some sort of solution online to no avail.

Required Device Driver Can't Be Installed Issue

I purchased the download version from my son's university to update his lenovo t61. I go through the entire process of download and creating the upgrade dvd. When trying to run it i first get the dvd device can't be written to. The school then told me to copy the files to my desktop (box1, box 2, and win7-p-retail_en-us-x86. When i run from desktop it completes 1) copying windows file, 2) gathering file settings, and 3) expanding windows files.

It then fails with a generic 'required device driver cannot be installed' and it ends the upgrade. I am trying upgrade vs custom. I've also downloaded and burned the dvd multiple times to make sure that wasn't the problem. Is something in vista stopping me?

Asus P5ad2-e Audio Device Driver Not Properly Installed

I did a clean install of windows 7 on 2 identical computers with the asus p5ad2-e motherboard. Both have the same problem: a message "no audio output device is installed". Letting windows try to solve the problem then results in an attempt to reinstall the device driver, which fails with the message "high definition audio device has a driver problem". Nothing i tried so far (uninstalling the driver, manually installing a realtek driver for windows 7) has worked.

Apple Mobile Device Driver Issue With Mtp Device Driver

How do i get windows 7 to accept the 'apple mobile device driver' instead of the 'mtp device driver'? It is driving me nuts! Frequent itunes sync issues occurring. Suggestion is that windows is treating as a camera instead of ipod which makes sense given it asks me if i want to import pictures each time i connect the ipod. I need to get it to update driver from mtp to apple mobile but cannot get it to do it as it keeps saying no compatible driver in the file.

Usb Flash Drives Device Driver Software Not Successfully Installed

Usb external drives, usb flash drives "device driver software not successfully installed". Acer and windows 7 problem. Not sure which one i am more frustrated with. Acer or microsoft trying to get decent customer service out of either seems so difficult. Ok, its a common enough issue.

I've seen this everywhere in other forums and every finger points back to microsoft. Usb flash drives, jump drives, memory sticks, thumb drives, whatever they are called, they don't work on my acer laptop. Yet all work perfectly well on my vista pc and my work xp. So they are not damaged. Also a freecom external 1tb usb drive. Doesn't work on win 7.

I have an acer 5338 (less than a year old) which sadly as windows as an oem so microsoft aren't interested in helping saying it's acer's problem. Acers website doesn't even acknowledge existence of the the model laptop i have which makes contacting them for a solution physically impossible (anyone got a phone number or email address>). Anyway they had a free upgrade to win 7.

(Oh you cannot imagine how much i wish i hadn't. ). So i upgraded. And all usb memory devices suddenly don't work. Ll of them try to load drivers then give up with the error message. Just to get the usual answers out of the way!I've tested the usb ports. All work. I've uninstalled all the usb ports and let win 7 re-install them. No problem i've cleared the file that keeps records of drives.

I did a new clean install. Nothing changed. Can't upgrade chipset drivers. Won't let me, says i don't need them every drive appears during the boot screen. Every drive appears in device manager but showing as fault. Updated, installed, deleted, re-installed every driver on the planet. Tried the 'regedit' solution suggested elsewhere, fragged my laptop, lucky i system restored up. Doesn't appear on disk management so can't deal with any drive letter conflicts. Have no virus.

Have only one firewall installed. Have prayed have hit the flipping thing have pleaded have pretended to cry. Not interested. So, i am hoping against hope that someone has a solution to this issue. I have a vague thought that it could be something to do with 'ports' and port settings. That, i am afraid is a closed book to me, so please, geniuses everywhere, give me something new to try! Or a way to speak to a human at acer!

Dvd Device Driver Blocked - Unable To Use Device Code 48

I get a code 48 message. I have an intel d945psn board that has run w2000 on a eide hard drive. I upgraded to windows 7 with a new sata hard drive clean install, but transferred files with pc mover. Now my dvd burner(s) don't work citing the infamous code 48 and saying that the software for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with windows.

Aren't cd/dvd device drivers pretty standard, and included with the bios?  How do i deal with that problem. I have tried to update drivers through "driver access", but the problem persists. The device doesn't even show up in windows explorer or my computer, but can be seen in device manager and on the cmos menu. The same is true of my second, identical sata hard drive. It appears that some of my important system drivers have been blocked.

Unknown Device Intel Ich10 Lpc Interface Controller - 3a18

Unknown device in device manager in windows 7 64. Fresh windows 7 64 professional install directly to a formatted hard drive. Using an asus p5ql-em main board with an intel e7400 core2 duo 2. 8ghz, 4g ram, ide hard drive, ide burner, keyboard, mouse, radeon hd4870 and that's it. No other devices.

Go into device manager and there is one unknown device: "on intel(r) ich10 lpc interface controller - 3a18" when viewing devices by connection in device manager, the path to the device is: home pc/microsoft acpi-compliant system/pci bus/intel(r) ich10 lpc interface controller - 3a18/unknown device

The full device list under intel(r) ich10 lpc interface controller - 3a18 is:
Direct memory access controller
High precision event timer
Inter(r) 82802 firmware hub device
Numeric data processor
Programmable interrupt controller
System cmos/real time clock
System speaker
Unknown device

Have tried about 6 drivers for this, from asus and intel, nothing installs and solves the problem. Tried both setup.exe and manual driver installation methods.

No Device Installed

I recently completed an os install. I went from xp pro to windows 7. It appears that everything installed correctly and it was even able to update a few drivers. That being said i am having one major issue and i'm seeing a lot of redundant and incorrect information on the net. I'd like to post in respect to what i've done and see if perhaps i have missed something. Before we start here a few important stats about my machine:

Os: windows 7
Motherboard: asus sk8v
Chipset: k8t800

My sound card:
sound blaster live! (Wdm)
Model: sb0200

This issue is:

The speaker icon on the bottom right of the tool bar has a red x indicating the following under the "playback tab": "no audio devices are installed".

 Under the "recording tab":
"Microphone"
"Logitech"
"Microphone (pro 4000)"
Default device:there is a green circle with a check mark beside the microphone icon.

My headset is the logictech pro 4000. It is a headset and microphone all-in-one. It is powered by usb. If i plug the device in my playback shows this headset as my sound. There is no option to change to another sound device because windows 7 does not recoginize the sound card. When i look in device manager under sound it just shows the headset. I've tried removing the headset driver then rebooting with the headset unplugged. It simply puts the driver back on. I've tried downloading several sound blaster drivers, the problem is when you try to install these drivers the install stops because it reports there is no sound blaster device on the machine. I've also tried running a driver from windows vista, no go. What i need to figure out is how to make the device manager recognize the sound card. I think it's coming up under the heading of:
Other devices-
                      -Multimedia audio controller
                      -Pci input device

I think that is my card because:
1. It clearly states it is an audio controller
2. It is plugged in via a pci slot

So again my question would be how do i make the device manager or windows 7 recognize the multimedia audio controller recognized as sound blaster? If i can get the system to recognize the card as sb then i am sure i can get the drivers to do their job. Windows compatibility page states there are no drivers for this device, and the solution is to go out and get a sound card that is compatible with windows 7.

This card ran flawlessly on windows xp. As a matter of fact i had multiple sound options installed. I used the logitech headset with microphone for online use with ventrilo. I used the sound card separately with a different set of headphones and an actual microphone for doing voice i created a "karoke like" player where people could sing along with songs from a host of different applications like itunes, limewire, jukebox etc. So i know the sound the card works. I just need to make windows 7 recognize it.

No Sound Device Installed

I have upgraded from vista 32bit to windows 7 ultimate 64bit, i have not made any hardware changes, apart from formatting my hard drive and then clean installing windows 7. It i saying that i don't have a sound card, which i do, i have a creative t9700, i cannot find drivers for it and when i troubleshoot it to let it find its own drivers it returns without any drivers. I have installed windows 7 as a present for my father who hates me going anywhere near his stuff because i am cursed with this unlucky streak of if it can go wrong it will.

The Drivers For This Device Are Not Installed (code 28)

Am receiving the following error for two devices on my system, a usb 2. 0 hub and a bluetooth adapter. I ran the mister fixit applet which recognized the error, tries to install the drivers and comes back with an error. The devices themselves work fine because the system dual boots to xp and windows 7 and when i boot in xp it discovers the devices and installs the drivers without a problem.

I have tried uninstalling the devices and re-running "scan for hardware changes" several time to no avail. Have also run sfc and it reported no errors. I would welcome any ideas or suggestions to help resolve this.

No Audio Output Device Installed

I had the same problem before. I upgraded to windows 7, had the red "x" on the audio and fixed it pretty easily with realtek high def audio driver. That's all i can remember from that. Well i bought a new printer and had to downgrade back to vista and that's when the sound messed up again. I tried to fix it with vista but was told i should go back to windows 7 so i did and the problem still persists.

I have a compaq presario sr5113wm and from my knowledge my sound card model is a creative sb live! Series (wdm). Everytime i start my computer the action center pops up with messages saying "address your sound card" or something like that so when i go to the device manager to check the sound, video and game controllers the only option listed is my webcam mic. Realtek or creative are not listed and i tried installing and uninstalling everything and i still get nothing! I keep getting people telling me to take the sound card out but i really want to leave that as a last resort and try to fix this technically. I've done it before but maybe i'm missing something.

No Audio Output Device Is Installed

I've already tried updating the driver, but the solution did not work and none of the other solutions are possible for me to even try. I haven't had problems with sound until randomly a little while ago. I have a dell inspiron 1440 on windows 7 64 bit home premium. On the bottom corner, there is a red x next to the sound icon and when i check for playback and recording devices, it just says that none are installed. This is a very frustrating problem.

Audio Output Device Is Not Installed

I just got the "no audio output device is installed" message for the second time. I can't remember what i did last time to fix it, but i've tried everything that people have suggested on multiple threads concerning this. It was literally working last night as i was listening to music, today when i turned it on it said i had no audio output installed. I have an hp pavillion dv9500. I upgraded from vista home 32-bit to windows 7 pro 64-bit, but never had a real problem until now.

I tried to find the driver on the hp site, but the driver didn't work. I've even tried to restore my computer to a week ago when i got a system update, but it keeps failing. There is also an exclamation mark on the co-processor under other devices in the device manager, but i have no idea what it is, and my sound, video, and game controller section pulled a houdini on me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Device Malfunctioned Error Code - 43 - Usb Device Not Recognized

I purchased a new computer with windows 7.initially my ipod worked fine with this computer. It still charges the ipod but nothing else. In addition it will not work on my old computer.

1. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.

2. I reset the device losing all of my music.

3. I have gone to device manager and the ipod shows up as unkown device. I have stopped the device driver and rebooted.

4. I have tried to have attached to my old computer update and i receive the exact same error and usb not recognized message.

5. Other devices work fine on the usb hub, in addition i have tried the other usb hub.

All of the above measures have failed. This all started when i was having problems updating my music to the ipod, and i chose the restore function on the summary page of the itunes software, with the device attached, and recognized. Since then nothing? Initially when the device was attached after the restore option was chosen, i got need to attach to a 2. 0 usb  high speed hub, error message? It is a 2. 0 usb high speed device. I have reviewed other questions in this forum, on apples forums, all with the same results, nothing.

Usb Hub Displaying As Device In Device Manager

Pretty much all my device connected to my usb hub used to show in device manager as separate devices. However, they now only show under the name "kevin o'connor" (the name of my zune). Open the device's properties and going to the hardware tab will show all the device connected via the usb hub.

Therefore, all the devices do in fact work, it's just a little bothersome to me, and the fact that i can't safely remove anything from the hub without having to eject the entire hub. Here's a screen shot that shows what the hub shows as: http://i34. Tinypic.com/34fxmp4.png

Device Driver Installation

After upgrading to windows 7, i purchased a new linksys wireless n card. I ran through the initial setup with the software provided by linksys, then shut down the computer and installed the card. The installation was supposed to continue when i restarted the computer, but before i could continue the install, windows discovered the device and installed its own driver. I was therefore unable to finish installing the driver provided by linksys. How can i keep windows from installing its driver so that i can install the driver that comes with the card?

Error - You Need A Wia Driver To Use This Device

Xps m1530 webcam won't work, receive error "you need a wia driver to use this device. " In windows 7

*Original title - xps m1530 webcam issues*problem:webcams just dont work on this computer anymore. The internal webcam stopped working, then i tried an external, and it didnt work, and i just bought a new external webcam which is windows 7 compatible and still no luck.

Background: bought my xps m1530 with vista 32-bit almost 2 years ago and upgraded to windows 7 64-bit when it came out. My internal webcam has not worked since. When i look at the hardware details, it says everything is working ok, both for internal and external webcams, but the video just doesn't show. The microphone on the laptop works, and i think the microphone for the external webcam works so i think the products do work. I feel its a driver issue, but i have installed so many drivers and applications and nothing seems to work.

I don't see anyone else with this problem online. When i go to the control panel and look at my hardware, and double click on the internal webcam, i get this message ""you need a wia driver to use this device. Please install it from the installation cd or manufacturer's website and try again"". I just went to dell's website and reinstalled some drivers and some more, but still have the issue. Any idea what this wia driver is? I googled it, but cant find anything specific to my product.

I have contacted both dell and hp (external webcam), and dell points their fingers and hp and also says warranty void for changing os, and hp says its computers fault (and i do think it is computers fault), but none of them are really helping me solve the problem. Can anyone help me? Is there a way to run a diagnostic on the computer ?
