Anytime Upgrade Not Accepting Key

I just purchased a system todayfrom the local store, and it came with windows 7 home premium (64). I have a cd for windows 7 professional (64)that i got through my college. However, when i went to use the dvd to upgrade from windows 7 premium to professional it told me to use windows anytime upgrade. But, when i do that and choose, "i have a key", then enter the key i have, it runs a bit and comes back with an error telling me that the key i have cannot be used for anytime upgrade. ? Why not? And if it can't then why can't i just do an upgrade from the cd? I know the key is valid, i got it from my college msdnaa site.

And, yes, i have verified that i am typing the key correctly. I even tried copy and paste, but still no go. What am i doing wrong, and what can i do to upgrademy windows 7 home premium 64to windows 7 professional 64?

Windows Anytime Upgrade Key

I have lost my windows anytime upgrade key that i had purchased for upgrading my windows 7 home premium to ultimate. I am upgrading the windows home premium that came pre-installed on the toshiba qosmio laptop i purchased. I used the windows anytime upgrade option found in the start pearl (i.e. I didn't buy the wau disc from a store, etc. ) Is there a way that i can contact someone to get this key recovered? I really need it, and i'm not much interested in paying another $140 or whatever it is.

Is Anytime Upgrade Key Language Specific?

I'm planning to upgrade from windows 7 home premium to ultimate using windows anytime upgrade.

The installation of home premium is a czech version that came preinstalled with a notebook as an oem license. Unfortunately, the online purchase doesn't work due to the limitations of the online store, so my only option is to purchase the anytime upgrade license outside of windows and then enter the purcahsed key to perform the upgrade.

I'm currently on an extended business trip in asia, so i can not purchase the wau from a czech store where i originally bought the notebook. My best option is to purchase the upgrade kit via an online store like amazon.

I haven't been able to find out whether or not the upgrade kits differ based on territory or language, so i would like to make sure that i won't purchase something that won't work. Can anyone confirm that the windows anytime upgrade key purchased in an english-speaking country work on a non-english version of windows?

Product Key Not Compatible With Anytime Upgrade

So i have home premium installed on my computer. I recently got my hands on a perfectly legal copy of professional. It isn't an anytime upgrade its the install dvd. So i tried and update and that didn't work. It told me i needed to do an anytime upgrade, however when i enter the product key it tells me that i entered a key for an edition of windows that is not compatible with anytime upgrade. So my question basically is. How can i upgrade to professional using the product key that i have?

Not Accepting Key Code

Okay. I have the upgrade version of w7 pro. I am upgrading from xp pro. Xp pro is installed currently, as is w7, but w7 will not take the key code for activation. W7 is saying that xp is not installed. I checked the code a plenty of times, and i did type it correctly. I am stuck here, and i refuse to pay 50 dollars to e-mail microsoft to get a response. I have no idea what to do. I have checked all of the similar things posted by others, but the factors causing the errors for others i have solved.

Recap:
Xp installed
W7 says xp is not
Key code not accepted in w7

Anytime Upgrade

I installed an upgrade from vista to windows 7 home premium a while back, from original disk with product key. I had previously installed it on my old laptop. It worked fine. A while later i discovered the anytime upgrade option on my laptop and was told i could upgrade to windows professional free of charge, i had never heard of "anytime upgrades" but was given the product code and it seemed the obvious option. All of this was through microsoft so i assumed it was fine.

Now i'm getting messages saying that i have an illegal version of the operating system and that it won't activate. I don't know how to revert bact to my original upgrade either, i'm not exactly a whizz where computers are concerned, or technology in general for that matter. What should i do?.
Bit of a thicky so walk me through it

Anytime Upgrade Is Not Available In My Country

I have a windows 7 starter edition portuguese-brazilian and would like to upgrade it to home premium using windows anytime upgrade. Windows anytime upgrade is not available in my country, so i wonder if would be possible purchasing a activation key here (http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft/windows-anytime-upgrade-windows-7-starter-to-home-premium/product/83d7a62a) even when my os language is pt-br and the activation code most likely will be en-us. Will i have the upgrade blocked due to the language?

Anytime Upgrade Question

I have an older laptop the has xp pro on it. I removed the hard drive keeping everything still installed on it, and installed a brand new hard drive and installed a copy of windows 7 ultimate on it that i purchased. I just recently bought a new laptop that came with windows 7 home premium.

I want to re-install the old hard drive back into my old laptop with the xp pro still intact. Then format the new hard drive i put in that computer to use as an external hard drive. Then upgrade my new laptop from windows 7 home premium to ultimate, using the product key from my ultimate purchased software. The ultimate disc says on it that it includes the anytime upgrade. There is only the single product key on the inside of the software package. Is this the key i enter when going through the anytime upgrade process?

Anytime Upgrade And Keys

So i managed to upgrade from xp and kept trying to activate my key through anytime upgrade to no avail until i went into the system directory and used the "activate windows" prompt. If i had, say, a windows 7 ultimate key, and entered it into the anytime upgrade prompt, would that automatically upgrade me or would i need to purchase it exclusively as an anytime upgrade issued key? I am still confused about this, as that anytime upgrade made installation a whole lot harder than it had to be

Anytime Upgrade Was Not Successful

I have a hp pavillion desktop that has win 7 home installed on it. I went to the windows anytime upgrade, paid the money, received an update key and then pressed the button that says complete upgrade. Then i get an error that says. Windows anytime upgrade was not successful. Please try the upgrade again. Which i have done 2 times now, when i get done submitting this question i will try it again. There is a line in blue that says.

Go online and try to resolve this issue and it just says to contact microsoft support. And here i am because i did not see anything else listed for my problem. I either need to get the money back or get the win 7 home upgraded to the win 7 professional. I have a order number if that helps you track down the problem but do not know if i should list it here.

Anytime Upgrade Problem

I have 64 bit windows 7 home premium installed, and i have 64 bit professional not installed. I got the professional through msdn from my college. I have read another article about this but it didn't help me. For some reason. When i enter the serial key it says "the upgrade key you have entered is for an edition of windows that does not work with windows anytime upgrade. Enter a different upgrade key. " How do i upgrade then  without having to do a clean install and losing my files? ( Not an option really )

Anytime Upgrade Software

I tried to install the windows 7 ultimate anytime upgrade. My computer stayed on the installation window for 2 hours and then crashed. After windows 7 recovered, my windows anytime upgrade application cannot be found. I have spent over 30 minutes on the phone, transfered to three departments and finally got the answer that i need to talk to technical support 10 minutes after they closed. Technical support closes at 12am edt. How does this help me on the westcoast when i might be getting home at 9pm pdt? I need support now with getting the application download.

Problem Using Anytime Upgrade

I want to upgrade windows 7 starter to windows 7 home premium on my hp netbook. I first tried using windows anytime upgrade to purchase the upgrade online. However, when i entered my home address and other information, i got a screen saying that the address isn't valid. This is strange because i've lived her for years. I reentered everything to make sure i made no mistakes and still got the "invalid" message.

I then went back to the ku bookstore tech shop, where i bought the hp netbook, and purchased the boxed windows 7 home premium upgrade. When i tried to upgrade by installing from the disk, it said to use the windows anytime upgrade, which i then did. However, when i entered the product key that came with the boxed upgrade, i got the message that it wasn't a valid product key. What's the problem here?

Cannot Undo Anytime Upgrade

I attempted to transfer the license from my old laptop running windows 7 pro to a new laptop i purchased that came with 7 home premium. While i was able to use the "anytime upgrade", it says the activation key is invalid. My guess is that it's because my old laptop was running 32-bit windows 7, and my new laptop had 64-bit preinstalled. So now my new laptop is stuck with an unactivated version of 64-bit windows 7 pro. I want to roll back to the 64-bit home premium that came pre-installed. Of course, all my system restore points were deleted and my laptop never came with a recovery disk or anything.

Anytime Upgrade Is Unsuccessful

I am having trouble getting my windows anytime upgrade to work and i am trying to find some free support for this as i have just paid a lot of money for my upgrade, which i have received for my birthday. I have tried to do the anytime upgrade from home premium (x64) to ultimate (x64) but it did not complete all of the way due to a wmi error dealing with the eventtrace being missing, which i have easily fixed. This computer is a toshiba satellite a505 laptop and absolutely no security programs that can cause update problems are running. Now, i have a new issue that popped up with the dism transmogrifier.

Apparently dism's transmogrification does not want to transmogrify anymore, and an upgrade failed page occurred. When i came back into normal mode from the wmi error being fixed, i started to see the problem when i tried the upgrade again. The key validates successfully and i followed all of the steps. However, the anytime upgrade fails due to transmogrifier failure, as shown in the update.

Discount On Anytime Upgrade In Uk

I am in the process of buying a netbook. I am unimpressed with the windows 7 starter pack and when i buy my netbook, i will want to upgrade it to windows 7 home premium. I have read that there will be a discount on the windows anytime upgrade in the us from the april 4th to the 3rd of july when upgrading to windows 7 home premium. Will this offer be available in the uk sometime in the future? If so how much will the discount be. Also, if i buy a netbook with windows xp, will it cost more to upgrade that to windows 7 home premium than upgrading windows 7 starter to windows 7 home premium?

Not Allowed To Download Anytime Upgrade

Windows anytime upgrade - why am i not allowed to download the upgrade, from windows home premium to windows professional because i live in new zealand? Windows users in australia (which is just across the ditch from us) are able to download the anytime upgrade, (along with numerous other countries around the world), and so i have to ask microsoft, what have these other countries & australia got that new zealand has not got- which enables them to get preferential treatment over new zealand windows users.microsoft is however not backwards in coming forward and taking money over the internet, for other microsoft software they promote to new zealand users.

Missing Features After Anytime Upgrade

I recently upgraded the operating system on my netbook from windows 7 starter to windows 7 home premium. One of the primary reasons for my doing so was the ability to use location-aware printing. However, after upgrading, the option to "manage default printers" is still unavailable in the devices and printers toolbar.

Customer service recommended that i try an in-place upgrade, however, as i'm using an hp mini 110, i have neither a disk drive nor a packaged installation disk.

Customer service also recommended that i use the system file checker to fix the problem and that i create a new user account from safe mode and see if the feature is available there. Neither solution worked.

Are there any other ideas or fixes i can try before resorting to buying a disk drive and ordering an installation disk from customer service?

Anytime Upgrade Failed Problem With Technet S/n

I have a windows 7 home premium machine that i am trying to upgrade to professional. I have tried using the anytime upgrade with my tech net s/n only to get told that the upgrade failed. Ok, i think it is stupid that i can not use the tech net s/n, since it is a valid #, but. Oh yeah, and there is no one to call. We know you have 2 valid licenses of our product, but we aren't going to help you.
Is there a way to reinstall win 7 over the existing installation to keep all settings and programs, and yet upgrade from home premium to professional?

Anytime Upgrade Doesn't Work

Just bought a dell i580 with windows 7 home 64bit. I was also sold the windows anytime upgrade from home premium to windows 7 professional for $89. 00. After i enter the product key it tries to install for a few minutes then says upgrade unsuccessful. I was told by dell that i would need to buy a full upgrade version of windows 7 pro for $200. 00. I can find full retail version for less than this.

The full version would ven make reinstalls easier. Is this what i need to do or is there a better way?I can find full retail version for less than $200. 00. The full version would even make reinstalls easier in the future. If i buy a full retail version instead of the upgrade and do a full new install, cani the use the license from the windows 7 home premium on a different computer?

Anytime Upgrade From Home Premium To Ultimate

I have windows 7 home premium in spanish installed in my computer. I do not speak spanish, so i would like to change the language to english. For this purpose, i would like to upgrade my os to windows 7 ultimate. I have 2 questions:1. Are windows 7 "anytime upgrade" packages language specific (i.e. In order to upgrade my windows 7 home premium spanish, do i need to purchase spanish version of anytime upgrade package)? If yes, where can i find it in us?2. Anytime upgrade packages are not released in my country yet. I will travel to us next week, so i plan to purchase a package there. Can i install the package when i return back to my country? Or, will it check my ip and tell that i am not in us so cannot upgrade.

My question is i want to do a fresh re-install of windows 7 (on the same computer) and i only have my windows7 home install disc with its license. When i re-install will it install windows7 home - or professional? Do i need to gather some information from my system (license key or something) before starting the re-install so that i can re-install to my 'anytime upgrade' of windows 7 professional?

Key Activation After Upgrade

I have purchased a toshiba laptop from toshiba aus that came with windows 7 starter. A few weeks later is purchased an upgrade disk from the site its not cheating to upgrade it to windows 7 pro.

The upgrade worked but now it is asking for the product key to be entered. The problem is that the windows activation wont accept the key as it says its an upgrade key not for a clean install of windows 7.

The way i went around upgrading was to first try the dvd but when it was about to start dong the upgrade it said to use the windows 7 anytime upgrade. So i than used the windows 7 anytime upgrade and that worked for the upgrade and it now says windows 7 professional, but the other day it started to ask me to activate the key.

Activate Upgrade With New Key

I purchased a genuine windows 7 upgrade disc for dell pc. Installed it and activated the product. Went with clean start, used home premium 64 bit. Then i installed the same disc as an upgrade on this pc which is my hp laptop. Install worked took 4 hours. Then when i tried to activate the product, it said invalid activation code or key. I didn't know that the key was good for only one pc. I have located a new genuine windows 7 upgrade key for sale and want to use it to activate my product on this pc. Will i have to re-install the disc and possibly loose my programs, or can i just use the new key to activate what i already upgraded on this laptop. Please advise me as to how i can solve this issue with the least amount of time and pain. Thanks for your help. Tony

Upgrade Version Product Key

I have a laptop and a netbook, one legitimate vista key, one full retail win 7 key and one upgrade retail win 7 key. My question is this: currently the full retail version is installed on my laptop and is activated. I have also installed the full retail version on the netbook - this is awaiting activation after changing the laptop (to which the vista key belongs) to the upgrade version.

My question is - can i just change the installed product key on the laptop from the full version to the upgrade version without having to re-install vista first and then doing the upgrade? If you find my response helpful, please click on the "vote as helpful" button!

Key Was For Upgrade And Not For Clean Install

When i purchased windows 7 online from the ultimate steal, it wasn't clear that it was an upgrade until it was too late and i'd already paid for it. Since it was intended for my brand new tower i have no previous operating system to upgrade from. I managed to do a fresh install regardless from a bootable disk. When i went online to enter the product key, it told me it was for the upgrade and not a clean install. I have 27 days to enter a product key. The reason i got it online was because of the offer for students. Being a student i can't afford to pay for a whole new operating system again and was wondering what i could do to avoid this?
