Blu Ray Drive Does Not Recognize Disc

I have a sony blu-ray disc drive on a windows 7 machine. The drive works fine for cd's and dvd's but will not recognize blu-ray discs. All of the firmware is up to date and the cyberlinke blu-ray advisor program says my hardware passes all of the tests for basic playback. But i can't even get to trying to play a disc when windows doesn't even recognize that there is a blu-ray disc in the drive. Any ideas?

Asus G73 Drive Does Not Recognize Blu Ray Disc

Recently got a new laptop - asus g73 with blu ray/windows 7 64 bit pro/comes with powerdvd 9
When i put a dvd in the drive, everything works fine.

When i put a blu ray disc in the drive - windows does not recognize that there is a disc in the drive (i.e. No auto-play, no disc recognized in windows explorer). Also, the powerdvd9 software also does not recognize there is a disc inserted. When i first opened the powerdvd program, it asked me to setup the correct region codes, and i've also setup the correct country in windows. The model of my blu ray drive is "matshita bd-cmb uj141as".

Cannot Play Blu-ray Discs

System spec:
Windows 7 home premium 64 bit pack for system builders, fresh and first time install on the hd below. Power dvd 10 standard. (Also have flv player and avg free installed) asus black blu-ray drive sata model br-04b2t  <- this is the problem drive. I have already updated the drivers and firmware via the asus site.

Lite-on dvd/cd writer black sata model ihas424-08
Ocz vertex series oczssd2-1vtx60g 2. 5" 60gb sata ii mlc internal solid state drive (ssd)
Evga 121-bl-e756-tr lga 1366 intel x58 micro atx sli micro intel motherboard
Intel core i7-920 bloomfield 2. 66ghz lga 1366 130w quad-core processor model bx80601920
Evga geforce 285 gtx, 6gb ram, and a nice samsung monitor.

The asus drive has yet to play a blu-ray disc on this particular machine. Each time i try to play a blu-ray, i get the error "unsupported disc in drive. " I have done the following:

- Tried corel windvd 9 plus, same "unsuported disc. " Error

- The drive works fine on a machine i built with windows xp 32 bit sp2 and running a trial version of powerdvd 10. On the first blu-ray i tried, it asked what region i'd like to set my player as (a, b, c). I have not seen such a screen on the 64 bit computer above, even after fresh installs of windows 7 on other hard drives.

- Same error on a separate win7x64 install on a different hard drive, same computer. The incredibly unhelpful asus people say it works fine on a fresh install of win7x64.

- Have done all the steps on this post: http://social. Answers.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7pictures/thread/a5bf1f3f-33c4-4502-ae2e-42cbd8f9d341

- Have followed the steps on this link:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461

As you may imagine, this is both frustrating and draining. My level of expertise is high with hardware but i am truly baffled.

Win 7 Not Recognizing Some Blu Ray Discs

I am having some issues with windows 7 not recognizing some blue ray discs. The drive and discs worked fine until i "upgraded" to windows 7 (32 bit) from vista (32 bit).

System will play normal dvd's. Will play some blueray disks. The ones that it wont read it treats them like a blank disk and wants you to chose how to save info. When you chose to start it and title the disk comes up thats its protected. Its very doubtful thats its a hardware issue do to the fact that it was working fine under vista. All drivers and codecs are up to date form lg "blue ray drive" and cyberlink "3rd party player". There are no error messages.

Here are the system specs :
Windows 7 home premium "32 bit"
2g ram
Amd 3800 dual core
Nvidia geforce 8600 gt
Blu ray drive lg h20l

Win 7 Does Not Recognize Hard Drive

I am building two new computers and purchased two oem licenses of windows 7 home premium 64-bit. Both computers are using a biostar ta890gxb hd motherboard, amd phenom ii x6 1055t cpu, lg gh24 multi-optical drive, and 4 gb of kingston ddr3 1333 ram. The first computer was recycling a maxtor stm3320620as hard drive. This had been recently reformatted to ntfs, so essentially starting over from scratch. The second computer was using a brand new hitachi hd30500idk hard drive.

Upon booting up the first computer, i would get to the screen where i am to choose what hard drive to install on, but none are listed. The bios does show the hard drive properly. I tried going into advanced section to load drivers, but it can't find any drivers for the sata controller. I then followed advice i found when searching for a solution and i found how to get to the command line.

I am able to go to the c: drive. I was able to re-format the c: drive. After it was finished, i tried to go back in and it still does not recognize any hard drives. After a while, i gave up and tried working on the second computer. Upon booting up the second computer, i got to the screen for choosing the hard drive and it identified the hitachi hd. I was able to install the operating system and everything has been exactly what i was expecting it to be. S stated, they are identical except for the hard drives.

I have double checked all my connections numerous times on the first computer but everything checks out fine. It seems odd that i can access the hard drive in command line and in the bios, but the windows 7 installer doesn't recognize it. Any advice besides going out and purchasing a new hard drive?

Drive Will Not Recognize The Win 7 Disk

I inserted the windows 7 home premium disk. It opened as advertised and gave me instructions on what to do prior to installing. I followed all recommend procedures including deleting trend micro and photoshop elements 4, etc. After deleting trend micro vista asked to restart the computer. I did as it asked. After doing that, my windows vista will not recognize the disk. When i try to access the drive via computer/dvd drive e:, i get the message; "insert a disk". The drive will read other disks just fine but not the windows 7 disk now what?

Win 7 Does Not Recognize Usb Drive & Ipod

This has been really bothering me. Windows 7 works perfectly with my old programs after my upgrade. Only when i plug in my usb external drive and ipod touch, ipod video. It does not recognize it. I tried device manager and looking for it there, it does not show up. When i go on safe mode, "usb mass storage" shows up but i cannot update cuz it keeps saying it already has the best driver installed. When i look at "properties" it says there is no driver installed.

With my ipods, i tried stopping and restarting ipod service, apple mobile device, itunes. I tried reinstalling a newly downloaded copy of itunes at least 4 times. That does not work.

There is a registry fix for this on windows xp titled "windows xp cannot detect a usb flash drive, an apple ipod, or an external hard disk drive" but does not have one for windows 7. The xp fix even has a download fix for fixing the registry. Is there one also for windows 7. I am going through the trouble of installing virtual pc and xp mode just to use my devices.

Code 32 - Disc Drive Problem

I just entered a cd into my disc drive and noticed nothing was happening. So i went to manually click on the disc drive itself, and saw that it was completely gone. When going through the troubleshooting process in windows 7, this note came up:

A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32). Obviously i need to re-enable this service, but i am clueless as to which one or how to do so.

Win7 Can't Recognize Driver For Raid C: Drive

I am trying to upgrade from windows xp professional (32 bit) to windows 7. The installation stalls when it asks for a cd or dvd with the drivers used by my ati 1x2 mirror/raid1 scsi disk device. I tried to get it to recognize the drivers already installed on the machine. It won't, it keeps insisting on a cd or dvd. I copied the correct drivers from the xp windows/system 32 using the file identities in "hardware" under windows system to a dvd. No dice.

I downloaded the drivers from hp (the pc is a compaq/hp machine) and installed them on the dvd. Still doesn't work. Now what do i do. If i format the drive and start afresh, the upgrade disc won't find my xp system, and may not up grade. Windows claims that my machine is windows 7 ready.

Win 7 Won't Recognize The Hard Drive

Got an h. D. Attached by a sata controller to my computer.
When i click on "my computer" i can't see it.

I tried right click on computer and "manage".
This is what i see under "disk management":

As you can see, windows recognize "disk 2" yet won't assign it a drive letter. When i click on "change drive letter and path" i get an error message:

Needless to say refreshing it won't help.

Anyhow, the disk worked just before i installed windows 7 (it's a fresh installation).
So it's some kind of "new hard drive".
It contains valuable data.

Any idea how to access it? Maybe it lost its file table?

Recover Disc Image From Sata Drive

I just purchased a new laptop. Spent all last weekend upgrading the os to win7 pro; reinstalling all my apps; and transferring all my data. Done! I then discovered one of the usb ports didn't work.
When i return to the store, i found they had the same laptop, but with a larger hd at the same price. So. I need to transfer all my "stuff" to the new machine.

I used the windows disk image utility. I successfully created the images on an external esata drive.
When i tried to run the windows restore utility on the new machine, it didn't recognize any available images. (The esata drive appears ok in windows explorer.

Message - No Disc In Drive - Can't Burn Picture Cd

I selected about 40 pictures from a gallery folder to burn to disc. I get a window that opens and says "files waiting to be burned to disc" followed by a list of the selected image files. I click 'burn to disc', and am prompted to put an empty disc into the cd-rom drive. After i do, and after closing the drive door, i get a 'checking disc' msg. In the window. In a few seconds the drive door opens, and i see this message: "there is no disc in the cd or dvd burner".

"Please insert a writable disc into the d drive". This drive plays discs fine, and i had no problems burning when i used vista, but after a hd crash, i upgraded to win7 and this is my first attempt at making a disc. Is there some compatibility issue here?. Device mgr. Says the device is working. The driver is up to date.

Win 7 Once Connected To Nas Drive Wont Recognize Upnp Devices

I have a laptop running windows 7 that once connected to a nas drive wont recognize upnp devices, is very slow to uninstall programmes, will not shutdown, and generally grinds to a halt. I have a western digital nas drive, an hp hdx18 laptop and a htpc connected together through a bt ethernet router. Every time i connect the laptop to the nas drive it starts to behave strangely.

1. It will not recognize any new upnp devices that i plug in such as external hard drives
2. The printer stops working - all print jobs are queued until after a reboot
3. Software uninstall can take a very long time
4. The machine will not shut down. It hangs on the windows shutdown screen with the blue circle spinning.
5. The machine seems to become unstable and slowly grinds to a halt.

The trouble started happening when i installed the wd software. However, i cannot be sure it was this that caused the issue as i was changing other software at the time. At the time i was running vista 64 home premium. I have subsequently upgraded to windows 7 x64 hoping that would fix it - no joy.

Further clues are that i have recently bought a htpc and installed windows 7 and the wd software. This works fine and does not show the same symptoms. I do suspect that the registry of the laptop may have some corruption (at least that is what free registry check software says - i have not bought any software to fix the issues). Do you have any idea what is wrong?
