Error Message When Play A Song Using Media Player

I bought a new laptop at christmas(windows 7) and transferred all of my files from my old windows xp to my new windows 7. Everything seemed normal until a few days ago. When i start my windows media player and try to play a song an error message pops up saying "windows media player encountered a problem while playing the file. " Then a small red x appears beside the song on the sidebar. It has done this to every song of mine but i don't know why. I have recently synced songs onto my phone but i have had no problems before with it. I have tried to find a solution but it never works.

Media Player Wont Play Dvd

I am running windows 7 home premium on a toshiba satellite notebook. The problem is with windows media player. Sometime i can put a dvd in the external dvd burner/player and it will work. When i shut down over night i cant get any dvd to load. I get the message "windows media player cannot play dvd video. You might need to adjust your windows display settings. Open display settings in control panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings. "

I have lowered the resolution and color setting but i always get the same message. Now i'm at a loss as to what to do. I bought this laptop to take on vacation to watch movies while on the airplane. The movies are on the hhd and do work when media player decides to work. The portable dvd player and the movies on the hhd play with nero show time but i have no sound and cant play the entire movie like i can with midea player. Any ideas?

Media Player 12 Crashes Whenever Try To Play A File

Hi, been there, tried that, still no joy. Used "method 1" and "method 2" i found here. Downloaded a load of new codecs. Updated video drivers. Turned off hardware acceleration, turned it back on again. Wmp still crashes whenever i try to play a file. I cam open wmp, and even see the library items. Just can't play them. I have win 7 home premium 32 bit.

Athlon 4000+, 2 gb ram, geforce 6800gt video card. Wmp works fine on the other pc (lesser spec and same card). I suspect something is corrupted in my version of win 7. Any suggestions gratefully received, i have downloaded vlc, but i just want to get this long-standing problem sorted. Iirc, wmp 12 has never run correctly on this machine.

Media Player 12 Cannot Play Dvd - Disc Region Problem

I have tried to play a home made dvd in wmp12 on my pc recently upgraded to windows 7. The dvd won't play giving the dialogue "wmp cannot play the dvd because the disc prohibits playback in your region of the world. You must obtain a disc that is intended for your geographic region". This is strange because the dvd is four years old and has played happily in win xp and vista on wmp prior to the upgrade to windows 7. Is there anything in wmp 12 that would cause this and how do i get round it?

Media Player Wont Play Dvd - Digital Copy Protection Problem

Windows 7 home prem 32bit. Inserted a dvd from netflix. I get this message:"wmp cannot play this dvd because there is a problem with the digital copy protection between your dvd drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card"ok, so i have been playing dvd's using this same pc with this same drive with no issues and suddenly i insert a netflix dvd and it won't play? Let's call this drive #1. I have 2 dvd's installed in this same pc, inserting the netflix dvd into dvd #2 player, wmp plays it back fine.

Further, if i play back this netflix dvd in dvd #1 using power dvd. It plays fine. Now, since i can playback this netflix dvd using wmp in drive #2, and since i can playback this netflix dvd in drive #1 using power dvd, surely my video card driver is fine. The 2 dvd players installed in my pc are not the same brand, but i have been playing dvd's in both, playing them back using wmp, with no issues. So why the issue with this netflix dvd? Is there an explanation as to why this netflix dvd inserted into drive #1 won't play the netflix dvd using wmp? Is there a fix for this?

Media Player Cd Burn Error

It starts burning and then stops when it gets to 99%. This error message pops up on the screen: windows media player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait for the current task to finish. If necessary, verify that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver. I'm using a laptop with windows 7 that already has a burner inside. Also, when i play the cd in a cd player it seems to work fine. So i'm wondering why it's displaying that message.

Burning Error In Media Player

I am using windows media player to burn a few cd's and i keep getting the same error message. The error message i get is:windows media player encountered an error while burning. Verify the burner is connected properly and that the disc is clean and not damaged. I use to not have any problems burning cds and now all of a sudden i do. Wmp acts like it is burning the cd and goes through the status completed, but as soon as it gets to 99% complete, the cd kicks out and i get the above error message.

Also, when it 'acts' like it is burning the cd, it goes through the process a lot faster than when it really is burning a cd. I am also using brand new cds, that are not scratched or damaged. I am using a laptop, so as far as i know, the burner is connected properly. I'm not sure what to do or how to resolve my issue.

Media Player Downloading Error

I opened an email containing a music file and  added it to my music library. When i tried to open/play this file, i got an error that it was in an unrecognizable format. I deleted the file from my music library and from the recycling bin, but i keep getting this error "windows media player encountered a problem while downloading the file" also, all my desktop icons are the windows media player icons, so no matter which ones i click on media player tries to open and i get the error. I've tried system recovery and that doesn't help.

Error C00d1199 - Media Player

When attempting to play almost any media file either audio or video, using almost any codec, including those that were previously played without a fault i now always get this error message claiming that the file is not supported or the codec is not known. I can now no longer play any of my music or video files using media player. I am running the 64bit version of windows 7 home premium. I have tried to remove and re-add the media player but the fault remains. In desperation i have tried to replace the codecs for all files but without success. I would like to delete and completely re-install media player but would prefer not to have to re-install windows completely, if no other solution can be found.

Error - Windows Media Player Cannot Burn The Files

Windows media player-error: windows media player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait for the current task to finish. If necessary, verify that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver.

When trying to burn a cd wmp goes through the motions but only burns a some of the music and not others then ejects the cd with the message above. Some songs on the burn list have audio codec info some do not. I believe this makes a difference but am not sure.
