Bug Report Dvd Maker

I have windows 7 home premium x64 with windows dvd maker file version: 6. 1. 7600. 16385 dated 07/13/2009 9:39 pm. When adding titles to be burned, dvd maker shows a time of 150 minutes on the dvd. It can not add mpg files correctly. A mpeg with 1:31 and another mpeg with 45 minutes and another mpeg 14 minutes shows 149 out of 150 minutes. This is incorrect since the blank dvd can only hold 120 minutes. Encoding starts and then there is an error. Nothing is written. I can create the dvd with 1:31 + 14 minutes dvd for 105 minutes.

Easy Transfer Report

I recently bought a new pc with windows 7 already installed. I performed a windows easy transfer of most of my stuff from my old xp to the windows 7 pc with no fuss, except when it was installing/saving the transferred data, it asked me for my old pc's password. I didn't know it, didn't even know it had one and neither did my husband. We tried all the obvious ones, then just gave up and closed that window down. And the rest of the installation/saving continued. Now when i go to view the report of what was transferred, i am unable to open it as it keeps saying that an error has occurred, and do i want to continue running scripts.

Then a pop up box appears with the following message. "Windows easy transfer post migration application has stopped working". It then searches for a solution, then says "it has a problem that caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify if a solution becomes available". Then the report closes down and i cant view it at all. What can i do?

System Diagnostics Report

I just built my new computer and installed windows 7 and have had the same problem with unexpected shutdowns. I generated a system health report and got these 2 failures:

Motherboard device status fail count
24
1
Motherboard devices.

Plugandplay device configured fail count
181
1
Plugandplay devices.

And clue what could be wrong with the motherboard? I got an asus p6x58d premium motherboards and as far as i can tell everything is installed correctly and there is no damage to the board.

Upgrade Advisor Report On Devices

If the report says that "we don't have compatibility information about this device. " Does that mean it cannot support the device? How would i know if it can be supported? I tried using the microsoft online search for compatible devices but did not see the device i am using.

If the report says that "check windows update after installing windows 7 to make sure you have the latest driver for this device, otherwise it may not work. " Does that mean it may not support the device?

Cannot Use Crystal Ocx To Print Report

Software that we have and support that has run for more than 10 years no longer works on windows 7. Well, most of it works, except one small part that transfers control to an ocx to print a crystal report. I'm trying to figure out why it wouldn't work. It just hangs with the swirling blue wheel. Does anyone know what changed with ocxs in windows 7 that might make this not work? I've tried using the compatibility mode options and administrator access to no avail. Any thoughts? I'm looking for a backward compatibility type workaround.

Taskbar Bug

Found a small bug in the highlighting of applications on the taskbar. Tested with windows explorer, haven't tested any others. Always reproducible on my machine.

Open two windows. Show the previews by mousing over the icon. Mouse over one of the windows, and hover over the close button. Once the window comes to the front, close it using the close button on the preview, then move your mouse off the preview so that the preview will close soon. The highlight stays on the icon no matter where you move the mouse, until you focus another window or mouse over a taskbar icon again.

Microphone Bug

I have a problem about mic. I use windows 7(32-bit), and have latest sound driver. The problem is, i plug it in at proper "jack" ( the pink one ). I un-mute it and put the volume on max. I can hear on my headset when im poking the mic but when i try to record, or to speak with someone over skype / msn, the green line is not rising up, and people are complaining to me that they can't hear me. I've been searching forums about this. I am sure that its not cause of driver, or non-working mic. Some even wrote that it could be a bug at windows 7, or driver http://social. Answers.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/gettingreadyforwindows7/thread/562f2350-44d2-4495-981d-c416d0337bd7

I have one desktop mic, and headset mic, same problem at both. Oh, and by the way, i never had this kind of problem on windows xp.

Outlook 2007 Bug

After a clean windows  7 install, outlook 2007 places a space before each apostrophe on all outgoing email. I have found that use of ctrl + z fixes it, but we shouldn't have to use it each time. It is annoying. A fix at the source of the bug is necessary. My research finds this is a common new issue among w7/office users.

I have been using w7 since it's rc and hosted a w7 party last month - so i am not a newbie. This is not a formatting issue, rather a bug in the code somewhere. Let's get it fixed microsoft. Everything else works great!

Install Update Bug

I've install windows 7 and like it's excitement, i install the update, but i found that the problem is in the networking. Suddenly i cannot connect to the internet using my broadband connection, the troubleshooting is i have to disable my lan, and try to repair the trouble, and it can connect again to the net. But, if i don't install the update, it can connect anytime without doing the "ritual", i've try to restore the system earlier before the update. Any suggestion or the update is really a bug?

Opening Folders Bug

I notice this: you double click on a folder in explorer and it opens to reveal other folders, no problem. Now have you noticed that when you keep clicking on folders that the clicked folder which is showing in the open dialog window jumps all the way to the bottom so that now you have to first scroll that selected folder all the way up just to see the sub folders contained inside of it.

This is very very annoying. I don't want that every time i click on a sub folder it goes all the
Way down to the bottom of the open dialog box, it should stay where it is, but no, instead it
Falls all the way down to the bottom and each time i open a sub folder i have keep scrolling the
Sub folder list up, this is a pain in the buttocks and i consider it to be a bug.

Power Saver / Graphics Bug

My asus computer has this power4gear battery performance tracker/ruinmylife software. I should mention that i always keep my laptop plugged in for the duration of my session, then unplug it after shutting down. When i turn on my computer, everything is fine. But when i start to do anything, anything, an extremely intrusive and dictatorial performance pop up invades my computer screen, telling me that it is switching power plans (nothing changes during this 'switch'), and will not go away or minimize for at least two minutes.

If i try to do anything while it is on the screen, the screen immediately goes black and stays that way until the pop up decides to call it quits. I know it has something to do with nvidia graphics, but if i click on the tray icon nothing happens. Occasionally, after childishly trying to click the pop up away roughly 50 times it starts to fade white, behaving like a non-responsive program (which it obviously is). Every so often the pop up appears multiple times in one session, even if i'm doing one thing for the duration of my time on the computer.

If i'm gaming, i am hard-pressed to minimize the program if the occasion calls for it because bringing it back up each time dims the screen more and more. Is there anything i can do or press to make this pop up go away? It's just really, really annoying!

Bug - Multi Monitor And Apps

I have 2 monitors.

Master monitor (left)
Secondary monitor (right)

I moved office and for cable length reason i changed the secondary monitor to be on the left. I set windows 7 to tell it that the secondary monitor is now on the left not the right.

Previous apps that i've used on the second monitor seem to default in the past to always loading on the screen on the right. Now when i open them application i can only see them in the task bar, they do not appear on screen. If i tell windows 7 my secondary monitor is on the right, i can then see the application on that screen.

This is a bug, windows should know that the secondary monitor is no longer connected on the right and it should not be loading the application window to a monitor that does not exist.

Win 7 Rtm Taskbar Bug

I am running windows 7 rtm x64 from technet. I apply the setting to never combine the icons on the taskbar. Then i open two windows of the same program, lets say word. When i rolled over with the mouse on the beta, the blue color would stretch across both windows very nicely. Now, in the rtm, it only stretches across one window, stops and does it to the other when i roll over the other. It does not look good. Also, is there any clarification that the retail build out today is the same as the rtm?

Game Spider Solitaire Bug

I found a bug in spider solitaire, on xp64, don't know if it still exists in windows 7. I was playing a "simple" game, and removed 7 suits of spades before trying to deal the last set of 10 cards. With 7 suits removed, there were only 3 cards remaining in play. When i attempted to deal, i got the error dialog "you are not allowed to deal a new row while there are any empty slots. "

The problem is i don't have enough cards left to fill all the empty slots, so there is no way to complete the game. I did some quick calculations, and decided the odds of this situation arising are roughly 1:100 for a simple game, but much less for medium or difficult games.

Win7 Bug - Media Player 12 Froze

While browsing through some songs with google chrome i wanted to save one of the sounds which loaded on the websites flash music player. So i went to the directory d:usersjonappdatalocalgooglechromeuser datadefaultcache as i do similarly with mozilla firefox in windows xp. And copied the file i thought was the audio file into another directory and changed the extension to . Mp3 .

When i opened the file which turned out not to be the audio clip, windows media player 12 froze, and before i was able to move the mouse to close the application, the cursor froze as well as everything else.

The only thing that did seem to work was the song playing before i opened the file. I waited for about 5 minutes to see if the computer would suddenly wake up from its trance, but it didn't. I decided to hit the power button on my pc and restart win7. I tried once more to play the apparent file and once again, the same symptoms showed.

Bug - Bsd On Target Host When Connecting To Win7 Shares

When connecting to a network share on a windows 7 professional host, the target host (server) immediately blue-screens. This behavior is repeatable and consistent.

Scenario:

Two windows 7 professional hosts were tested. One host had a fresh load using the hp standard image. The second host had a fresh load using the microsoft retail dvd. Both hosts are members of a windows server 2003 r2 hosted activedirectory domain running in native mode. Default network settings are used on both hosts, obtaining ipv4 addresses via dhcp. Domain administrative accounts were used in all scenarios.

Tests were performed in the following manner:

1) windows 7 professional client to the c$ administrative share on a windows 7 professional target host.
2) windows 7 professional client to an explicit, read-only share on a windows 7 professional target host.
3) windows xp client to the c$ administrative share on a windows 7 professional target host.
4) windows xp client to an explicit, read-only share on a windows 7 professional target host.

In all scenarios, the target windows 7 professional host immediately blue-screens. This behavior could be duplicated 100% of the time.
