Logon Username Or Password Is Incorrect

When i first got my brand new laptop with win7, i thought i would automate the logon procedure. I think i used task scheduler, which looked completely different to windows xp (what i was used to)i managed to get this thing to run every time the computer starts, but ive made a silly mistake. I just put a login name and a password and forgot that windows uses "workgroup" as a default domain (or something like that. Such as alphacomputer/martin as the login part) because of my little error it now gives me that annoying error (the name or pwd is wrong) every time i boot the computer: so i have to type my password manually, each time, which is exactly what i wanted to avoid.

My big problem is i cannot find the little schedule that i put in originally. Please can someone explain how i can search for the scheduled task. It is so different from xp, and there are 225 active tasks once the computer is logged in as me. (I tried a quick fix downloading tweak for win7-which has an auto logon feature- and it fixed the problem, but unfortunately this version of tweak is not free and expires, leaving the original problem).

The Username Or Password Is Incorrect

I too am, or was, receiving this message as soon as i turned my win 7 hm os on. I bought the pc from fry's electronics and it was an open box - previous display model. Obviously when they put it on display they did the first turn on (and thus i lost the opportunity to go through the orientation/demonstration of win 7), but they also obviously put a password on with the administrator, and that must be what the pc starts to.

I tried following the advice:
It's as i expected: you're driving on auto-pilot with an incorrect password. Now do this:
1. Tick the box.
2. Single-click your account name.
3. Untick the box.
4. Click ok.
5. Enter your password (=blank) when prompted.
6. Reboot to check things.
7. If all is well, make a note of the process for future reference.

But if the "tick" means a single left clicked on the "okay", when i did it took me to my user name sign on screen. Seeking to rid the first step, i followed the advise:

It's as i expected: you're driving on auto-pilot with an incorrect password. Now do this:
1. Tick the box.
2. Single-click your account name.
3. Untick the box.
4. Click ok.
5. Enter your password (=blank) when prompted.
6. Reboot to check things.
7. If all is well, make a note of the process for future reference

Now the pc turns onto to my desktop totally bypassing the requirement for me, or anyone who turns it on, to have to enter a password. Can anyone help me possibly returning to the setting when the pc was first turned on out of the box, without a total restart.

Logon Failure Unknown Username Or Bad Password

My laptop is running windows 7 pro. I have created a vpn connection  to my workplace and saved the connection credentials for any user of the laptop. This works fine, but when i try to login to the domain i get the error: login failure:unknown user name or bad password. This is after using the switch user option and then using the network connection option, this brings up the vpn login window, i re-enter the vpn login credentials, the machine connects to the vpn and then goes to a welcome screen and this is where i get the error message. With xp pro this did not happen, the machine would connect to the vpn and then display a domain login window. What am i doing wrong?

Power On Wrong Username Or Password

Everytime i turn on my laptop, i'm told 'wrong username or password' even though i didn't enter anything in. Next i get a screen with a user that i thought i deleted with a 'enter password' beneath it and a 'switch user' beneath that. When i press switch user it goes to a screen with the same deleted user and a 'other user', i have to put in my administration account details into the 'other user' button, then i'm finally let in. Why is this all happening?

Incorrect Password

Just today, i went a bought myself a nice hp laptop, windows 7, 64-bit operation system, and so on. And after i created the 5 recovery disc's, i restarted my computer. Before i had created the discs, i set up a password and account and such, but when i restarted my computer. It said the password was incorrect, for some odd reason. I am wondering how i could bypass the password? In the old system, all i had to do was go into the administrator account and reset it from there, but i didn't set up the administrator account, and i swear i'm typing in the same password, i even tried using the fn key, and ctrl+shift stuff, as well as caps lock.

Incorrect Network Password

I have recently upgraded to win 7 and have a problem connecting to the password protected part of my file server (hard disk router accessible via network router). After login procedure all i get is an alert box claiming "incorrect network password" (retranslated message, sorry if it's not the literal english expression). From the other two computers in my network, still running on xp, i have no problem to login. If i temporarily discard the password on the file server i have no problem to access my files. So, it seems that win 7 has some sort of problem with sending the password. I have tried every tip and trick in windows help to no avail. What is this, and how can i solve the problem?

Msn Email Address Or Password Incorrect

Just purchased a new computer that has windows 7 home premium 64 bit installed on it. I use msn as my home page. Every time i start up or reboot the system and try to get to my home page it asks me to put in my email address and password (despite the fact that i previously, and each subsequent time, checked the box to remember my email address and password). Then, to add insult to injury, it keeps on coming back with the error that email address or password is incorrect. I try a few more times with same results and then all of a sudden it works one time. Where do i go to fix this total annoyance?

Cannot Logon - Password Problem

New hp pavilion with windows 7 preloaded (about a month old). Never had a problem until today. Two users, one designated the administrator. Working fine this morning. Shut down for the day, booted up this evening. Passwords for both accounts come up with "the user name or the password is incorrect". No num lock issue, no caps lock issue, i do remember both passwords and i am signing into the correct accounts (thanks ms). I have switched keyboards to see if it was a key board issue.

I have tried going through "safe" mode (still gets me to a point where it asks for a password for the designated users and, guess what, the passwords appear to be incorrect). I see many have had this problem. I have tried several of the resolutions suggested (many appear to be repeats and i am not sure whether they ever resolved the user's problems). Seems to me to be a bug. Nyway, since i decided not to make the move to a mac i am feeling very angry right now. Help!

Win 7 Not Recognizing Correct Password For Logon

I have been using windows 7 for about 3 months with no problem. Yesterday, it started to give me the message: "user name or password are incorrect. " When i continue to log on, using the same password, it finally accepts it after 3 or 4 attempts. The caps lock is not on and i am sure of my password. I have tried going into the control panel and changing the password, but i get the same message, that the password (which eventually allowed me to log on to the computer) is incorrect. I have done a virus scan. I am wondering if this is a windows 7 glitch.

Incorrect Overlay Icons For Shortcuts

I rebooted my computer, and seemingly for no reason, my desktop shortcuts have a little software package overlay icon instead of the normal shortcut arrow. I've not done anything to try to change the shortcut arrow: i keep all the defaults. How can i set it back to the correct icon? Example of the issue: all these icons are shortcuts (. Lnk) files to either websites (redmondpie), programs (ie9 preview) or files (powerpoint file). The file on the far right is the actual powerpoint file (i created the shortcut to see if this issue affects newly created shortcuts, which is does):

Website Links Incorrect Operation

I am having several problems with my windows 7 oem on a newly purchased dell desktop commuter and a windows 7 upgrade from vista on a dell laptop. Every time i go to the windows 7 pages and ask a question about one of the problems (like the fact that settings change back to default, sound, mouse, etc. ) I am directed to a page that has answers for windows vista. That does me no good obviously, and so i become frustrated and wonder about the product which will not perform successfully and the proper availability of help.

Backup And Restore Error - The Parameter Is Incorrect - 0x80070057

Configuring backup and restore (executing 'sdclt.exe /configure' as super user) causes error 'the parameter is incorrect' 0x80070057.

Background:  backup and restore was working fine here in windows 7 home premium until i encountered hard disk cabling problems and the backup would just die, or would freeze the machine. Event 129, 'reset to device, deviceraidport1, was issued' was realized in the event viewer. In any event, at some point i removed power from the machine without shutting down windows and that messed something up, i believe in the registry somewhere.

The cabling problems are resolved but now backup and restore "lost" it's configuration and trying to reconfigure (set it up again) causes the 80070057 parameter error when clicking on "save settings and start backup" (after changing source and destination files/drives and resetting my modified us regional settings).

The following were tried to no avail:1. Chkdsk /r on all partitions2. Sfc /scannow3. Clearing the appropriate registry entries in hklm (as documented elsewhere in this forum)4. Running in a clean boot state5. Running in safe mode6. Reading every appropriate forum post in here (some with questions not answered)the only thing i've found to fix it:clean installation of windowsi don't wanna do that if i can help it. Any help?

Backup And Restore Error - The Parameter Is Incorrect (0x80070057)

I have some problems with my backup program (backup and restore of w7). Normally i have scheduled a backup every fryday at 19:00 hours. The backup goes to a nas. Today the nas was offline and i was forgotten to turn it on. I turned it on and it came available as normal. Then i went to the "backup and restore" option of my control panel. There i saw the information that there was no backup done that night (correct) so i pressed the "backup now" button.

Directly the next message appeared: back up or restore your files

(Red cross) an internal error has occurred.
The parameter is incorrect (0x80070057).

There is nothing else i can do anymore with the program. Even restarting my system fails: the same error code is appearing again. Does anyone knows what is the matter here and how to solve this?

Lan Ethernet Adapters Install Error - Parameters Are Incorrect

Lan ethernet adapters give install error "parameters are incorrect". Windows 7 recognizes adapters but will not load drivers. At wits end. Windows 7 recognizes on board lan adapter "realtek" drivers. Assigns driver, however won't load driver states install error parameters are incorrect. On board lan adapter actually worked for two weeks then crashed. Bought a pci lan adapter, looked it up on windows compatibility website. All good.

Turned off onboard lan in bios. Installed, windows 7 like before recognized driver however won't load driver states like before install error parameters are incorrect. Using the troubleshooter, states does not see any networking equipment. Stated wired adapter may have problems. Well no doo doo! Have tried multiple drivers i downloaded nothing seems to work. I have no idea what parameters are incorrect means or how to proceed at this point.

I'm trying to install a program that was designed for windows xp on my pc that runs windows 7

Ok- an attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
(Exception from hresult: 0x8007000b)"
I go into the built in support to make the program work with windows7 but it doesn't fix it. Does anyone know what i can do to make it work? I'm willing to hack the software files and change the code. Whatever it takes!

Unable To Logon

I have an issue w/win 7 pro that, hopefully, you have an answer for. This is a fresh installation on a new hd. Win 7 starts up, in fact the shared folders are accessible on my network, but i'm unable to log on - the logon screen is frozen, cursor won't move and there is no keystroke response.

Everything was running fine until i performed a boot-time defrag - before that i ran sophos antivirus and 4 "malware" files were detected and deleted from system-32 folder.

I've attempted to start in safe mode, with last known good config, and in debugging mode; all - nr.system repair - 'os started'; system restore - 'cannot find image on this computer'. (I know that at least 4 restore points were created). I can access a command prompt through system restore, but it appears that i'm confined to the x drive.

Anything you can think of short of reinstallation?

Win 7 Slow Logon

I loaded windows 7 64-bit onto my ssd hard drive (intel x-25m) when i had an amd 4000+ processor and asus m32n motherboard. Recently i changed my motherboard and processor to an intel core i7 processor and gigabyte ga-x58a-ud3r motherboard. I also installed a edimax wireless n pci wifi adapter.

Windows 7 starts up fine up until i get to the login screen. When i click to login it takes around 40s to load the windows screen whereas before it would take about a second.

Should i reinstall windows 7 to fix this problem? I had to re verify the copy of windows because i changed the motherboard and processor will i be able to reinstall windows 7 again without having any problems verifying the copy? (Its the retail version of win 7 64bit).

Just a note i have a picture as a background for my windows 7 desktop so the solid color background thing doesn't seem to be the problem.

Logon Service Failed

I have installed windows 7 3 times now and just had to do a system rollback today due to various errors within windows 7. Both home premium, starter and ultimate have all failed at some point. The latest problem appears that 6 ms updates went in (publish date 13th april) and upon reboot, and logging in it says the login service failed to start and then throws you back to the login screen. I had to start up in safe mode, log in and then rollback. I'm getting very frustrated now as the system won't remain stable for more than 1. 5 months before something happens.

Logon Delay On Welcome Screen

When i logon to windows 7 (ultimate x64), the welcome screen stays on the screen for about 30 seconds before switching to the desktop. Other user accounts do not show this behavior. My profile is by far the biggest on the system (2. 7gb). I've read that there is a bug related to solid background colors, where the delay behavior is mentioned, but i'm using a desktop theme instead (also, reverting to the standard background did not solve ths issue). Does anybody have any other ideas? Can i use a tool like bootvis to analyze the logon process?

How To Turn On Automatic Logon ?

The registry entries we used to utilize autologon, no longer seem to work as they under windows xp.
Specifically, when choosing a windows only logon after installing novell client 2 for win7, the local windows account name does not pop up in the username field. Then, when you enter the proper workstation username, you must also enter the password. Previously, the password was supplied in the registry and was not required at workstation logon. Oddly, if you log to the novell network, the local user credentials *will* be properly used and the workstation account will be logged quietly and in the background without user intervention.

Win 7 Does Not See .net Framework On Logon

Win 7 does not see .net framework upon log in. Prompts me to d/l .net framework 2. 0, but 3. 5. 1 is already installed.

Prior to loading win7, i did a vista windows update as recommended.

Installed win7 home premium over vista home premium.

Got the "d/l .net framework 2. 0" notice upon logging on.

Went into "turn on/off windows programs", and .net 3. 5. 1 is there, but turned off. Turned it on. Reboot. Still get the 2. 0 notice.

Initial Logon And Program Issue

Alright first i have to say that i really love win 7 so far, but i have 2 issues.

1. Not sure if there is a easy fix and i just missed it, but when i first start up my computer (i have a password set), it instantly says incorrect password before i ever even attempt to input it. It works fine if i just hit enter and type it in normally but i don't understand why it won't wait for me to input the password the first time.

2. I have a m3a76-cm asus motherboard with via hd audio deck, but for some reason whenever i am in the options for the audio deck and i select "expert" which is essentially just the advanced options. I get a message saying "updating audio devices, this may take a few minutes. " The bar goes about 1/4 of the way and the program crashes with a message saying via hd audio cpl has stopped working. Now before i upgraded it worked perfectly fine, but since the upgrade process it has not worked anymore.
