Usb Mouse Keeps Disconnecting

I have a g5 usb mouse that keeps stopping (and the lights and the laser turns off). I have been using vista when it started and looking at on the net i got only one answer my irq is messed up. I had a copy of windows 7 so i thought that may fix it. It didn't. My irq has 2 irqs that are sharing. Both have a usb driver on them. Irq #20 has "high definition audio controller" and "standard open hcd usb host controller.

And irq #22 "nvidia nforce networking controller" and "standard enhanced pci to usb host controller". I have tried every thing i can think of but no go.
(And i have almost broke my mouse it is so bad).

Win 7 Crash When Disconnecting Usb Camera

Have noticed that several usb connected devices will crash the os if they are disconnected after use. The 'safely remove' option does not appear to prevent this. Problem was first noticed when transcribing video tapes using a roxio vhs connector, but have same issue with olympus camera connection. After use, if the usb cable is unplugged, the os crashes immediately - no bsod or error log entry. All the error log shows is that the machine was powered off incorrectly. Host machine is an acer with amd dual core processor. Issue does not occur with xp on same box.

Plugging Usb Keyboard & Mouse Into Different Usb Ports

I have a usb keyboard and mouse. Recently, i had to relocate my computer, so the keyboard and mouse were unplugged. My question is: if i plug the keyboard and mouse back, but not into the original usb ports, will this cause windows 7 to create a new hardware profile, or any other registry changes as a result?

Internet Disconnecting

Occasionally my internet disconnects and i get the yellow triangle in the bottom right. However it is just my computer which can't connect to the internet and other devices connected to the same modem still work. It seems like it can't communicate with the modem or something. As a temporary fix restarting my computer or restarting the router and modem seem to work sometimes, but it happens around one to two times a day and it is very annoying. What could be causing this problem? Troubleshooting and repairing the connection doesn't seem to work. I am on a wired connection.

I don't know if this is related, but in hopes of fixing this, i've updated my network adapter driver (intel 82567lf-2), but the problem still persists.

Usb Mouse And Keyboard Disabled

I managed to disable mouse and keyboard somehow when working in the device manager. My computer (acer revo 3600) only has usb ports so i can't undo my changes. The usb ports and mouse&keyboard are working. They work when i'm in the bios. The usb ports are not completely shut off in windows, my usb wlan is working. I've tried this:

- Safe mode (and all other modes offered in boot)
- Plug in new (previously unconnected) mouse in safe mode and normal mode.

What can i do?! Options are quite limited when i can't change anything in windows (7 x64).

Usb Mouse Randomly Freezing

My microsoft wireless natural ergonomic keyboard and mouse 7000 freeze randomly. Os: windows 7 64-bitdrivers: latest intellipoint intellitypelatest intel chipset drivers for p6x58d premium mobo, and all usb drivers installed. All drivers are up to date. Several other posters here are having the same problem. Their solutions have ranged from:1) disabling usb power management (tried unsuccessful)2) update drivers (done) update windows (done)3) use non usb mouse (not an option)4) dpc latency (checked, no problems)5) uninstall usb root hub drivers, reboot to reinstall (doesn't work) the only think i have left to suspect is that i had to plug in the mouse/keyboard before installing intellipoint/intellitype for the first time.

Since i built the system from scratch, and have no other key/mouse, i needed something to click/press to do the installation of windows, and intellipoint/intellitype. Yes, the instructions on the microsoft set say to install software first. Is this likely the source of the problem? Should i hunt down a ps/2 mouse, reinstall all usb/mouse drivers? Any other suggestions?

Wusb54gc Disconnecting Issue

Ok so i have waited for a more updated driver from linksys for my wusb54gc v3 wireless adapter to work with my windows 7 64-bit but still no luck and now i'm noticing that its happening on my vista machine now too.

Every time i go to youtube or download a large file(s) my wireless card looses its connection to the internet, but not to the router. I am able to disconnect it and reconnect it but however that doesn't get me back online i have to completely shut down and restart my comp in order for it to "reset" it self. I am completely lost here, and btw it just started doing the same thing with vista machine about 2-3 days ago. Thanks for any help and if you need more information just let me know.

Messenger Live Disconnecting

Messenger disconnects every few secs after signing in. Turning my internet connection on and off in the process. Each time it disconnects. Just installed windows 7. Never had this issue with any other os. Looked threw several differnet things. Found nothing that seems similar to my problem. Internet works perfect without attempting to use messenger live.

Ok first off. I messed up with trying to just delete messenger live. Now i can't reinstall it. Since it says i already have it. Plus i can't find a way to use it either. If i do still have it. I have no idea how.

So if i can find a way to get messenger back working again. Then i need to find a way to get the original problem. Of it disconnecting all the time on me. For what seems no reason.

Wireless Usb Mouse On Lenovo T500

I'm about to install win 7 on a new lenovo thinkpad t500. According to a lenovo "windows 7 hints & tips" document: there is no wireless usb software for windows 7. Affected systems: - thinkpad r400 and r500 - thinkpad t61, t61p, t400, and t500 - thinkpad w500, w700, and w700ds - thinkpad x200, x200s, x200 tablet, and x301

Symptom: there is no wireless usb software for windows 7.

Cause: wireless usb devices for the above systems do not support windows 7. I'm not sure what "wireless usb devices" includes, but it sounds as if my microsoft wireless mobile mouse 6000 or wireless mobile mini mouse might not work after i install win 7. I'm also asking lenovo, but does anyone here know if a wireless usb mouse will work with win 7 (a) on any computer or (b) specifically on any of the listed lenovo computers?

No Usb Devices Works Except Mouse / Keyboard

There are some threads here about non working usb devices. I read them all (i think) and tried all different kind of solutions but none is working. I have a hp ex500aa-b1u desktop. I used to have xp enterprise. One day the mouse and keyboard stopped working. I suspected some kind of virus and after a lot of work managed to start it in fail safe mode, backed up my files and then reinstalled xp.
Mouse and keyboard started working but all oter devices i put in (usb flash memory, camcorder, usb disk etc) just get the message "unknown usb device". I installed w7 enterprise instead but still have the same problem.

Is it possible that i had a virus that did something to my bios? I also have a built in usb disk that came with the computer. This disk is found after maybe 15 minutes after startup. But the speed when copying something from it is very slow. Maybe 700 kb/s.

Microsoft Usb Mouse Freezes After Sleep

I've turned off power save on *all* usb ports+hubs+devices. The only way i can remedy the problem is to unplug the mouse from the usb port and plug it back in. The system reports reloading the driver and the mouse works until the next incidence of sleep. Mouse driver dated 6/21/2006, version 6. 1. 7600. 16385 is shown by system to the the most current. I appreciate the power saving, but i really shouldn't have to do this each time. Any help?

Hard Drive Disconnecting In Win 7

I have an hp dv4000 laptop that i am running windows 7 on. Since the memory it came built in with was not enough i bought an external hard drive. This hard drive is an iomega notebook external hard drive. Its capacity is about 250 gigabytes or so. I bought the hard drive before i installed windows 7, when i had xp. Now when i use it the hard drive does not show up in my computer as connected even though the light on the hard drive is on.

Sometimes the hard drive makes a funny beeping or clicking sound. I have to disconnect the hard drive and reconnect it a couple of times before it works on the computer. I use the hard drive as basically a second hard drive to run applications off of and save documents to, instead of just backing stuff up.could you guys provide me with any assistance on this one.

Sleep Issue With Mouse And Wireless Card On Usb

I put this toshiba laptop to sleep and incur problems. Win 7 home premium toshiba l455i notice that after i close the top [and induce the sleep] or if manually sleep using the start button, after a minute or so i notice that the mouse led is on, along with the leds for my sprint card.

Watching and listening carefully, i notice that the laptop wakes up, and will beep, an indication that the touchpad has disengaged, noticing that the mouse is plugged in. If i open the laptop, it is standing at the login screen. Why is this?  Why can't i get the thing to sleep. I first noticed this when i started up, and it needed to return from hibernation, with a battery at a low/critical stage.

Win 7 Recognize Usb Gps As A Serial Mouse

Windows 7 + usb gps becomes serial mouse = bad news*i know this has been asked quite a few times on here, and a solution has yet to appear, but since it has been awhile since the last time it was posted i thought i would see if any progress has been made. Problem: plugging in a usb gps, or a serial gps connected via a serial->usb adapter causes windows 7 to improperly recognize the device as a serial mouse, and since the data stream is rapid, the mouse pointer begins to jump all over the screen.

In xp, disconnecting the gps temporarily left behind the serial mouse in device manager, and disabling it there would then allow the system to be used again. Unfortunately, in win 7 when the gps is unplugged the system immediately removes the device from device manager. Additionally, the tools microsoft had released to combat this problem on the front end have not been released for windows 7. So we have the choice, continue to hold the laptop rollout, or revert to rolling them out with xp. Neither option is ideal. Anyone have any ideas?

Win7 Doesn't Detect Usb Mouse

I have a simple problem that i can't seem to fix. I have been using the same usb mouse for about a year now, and recently windows has stopped detecting it on startup. It is easy to fix, i simply unplug and replug it back in and windows recognizes it and the mouse works fine. But for some reason windows has stopped detecting it on startup.

I have tried different usb ports, i have tried unplugging all other usb devices and leaving just the mouse, and i have updated my drivers. It detects my usb keyboard and external hard drive every time, but windows has stopped detecting my mouse on startup. Suggestions?

Usb Mouse / Keyboard Drivers Failing To Install

I have a strange problem with mouse and keyboard usb drivers can anyone suggest any way forward?

I have a desktop computer running windows 7, upgraded using a custom install from windows vista. It has a pair of hard drives configured as raid 1 and a usb mouse and keyboard. I recently had to replace the power supply after the old one failed and ever since then at each startup of windows i get a message that it is trying to install usb drives for 2 keyboards and one mouse (i only have 1 keyboard!) By downloading drivers from windows update. The install always fails and after this i am unable to use the mouse or keyboard in any usb ports apart from the ones they were connected to when windows started.

Trying to connect any other mouse or keyboard to the other usb ports after windows has started again generates the "device driver software was not successfully installed" message and the device is not usable.

Other usb devices work fine - e.g. I can plug a memory stick into any of the usb ports and that installs fine and works perfectly.

I tried doing a manual update in device manager which shows 2 keyboards and a mouse under the human interface device section but each time i tried update driver i had a "file not found" error and the device disappeared from device manager. I could only get them back by doing a system restore.

I have tried a windows repair boot, a chkdsk, a sfc /scannow and even a full system image restore back to before my power supply failed but none of these acions have made any difference.

I'm considering a full reinstall of windows 7 but this will be a pain as there will be quite a few applications to reinstall and i don't know for sure if it will fix the problem.

Can anyone suggest anything else?  Is it possible to manually copy / check / replace the exact driver files for usb keyboard and mouse?

Usb Keyboard / Mouse Not Working After Upgrade To Win7

Upgraded vaio vgn-fz290 to win 7 from vista. Have ms digital media pro keyboard and wireless intellimouse explorer 2. 0. Both work fine if i use them on another computer, and worked fine on the vaio before upgrading to w7. When i plug them in they do not show up in the "safely remove hardware" or under usb devices, keyboards or mice in device manager. When i plug the keyboard in the "f" function light comes on for 1 second and then goes out. When i plug in the wireless receiver for the mouse no lights come on.

Basically the computer acts like nothing is even plugged into the usb. Tried every usb port, same result. Also used my usb flash drive successfully in each usb port, so it is not a bad usb port. No splats show up in device manager. I have also tried an old usb keyboard, and get the same result. If i open "safely remove hardware" i see all other usb devices plugged in, but not the keyboard or mouse.

I have installed the w7 drivers from ms and no difference. I have uninstalled the drivers, no difference. I have uninstalled my primary laptop keyboard and rebooted, still won't recognize the usb keyboard. I can plug the keyboard and/or mouse into my mac mini server and it works like a champ.

I am utterly clueless on what else i can do and hate using a small keyboard and track pad at my desk.

G5 Gaming Mouse / Usb Random Power Failures

Ok, after months of searching for answers as to why my g5 dies randomly i thought i'd beat my head against the wall some more here with the faintest glimmer of hope i might have overlooked a possible solution. People are already thinking, why am i posting about a logitech device here? Simply because i dont believe there is anything wrong with the mouse or the logitech drivers and i'm looking for a nasty, evil, evil culprit within windows. I love this mouse and it may sound dumb, but from a gamers point of view - upgrading to a newer model/diff brand mouse is not a solution. This is "the mouse" for me.

This device worked perfectly till i upgraded to windows 7, i have had it a few years and a very similar model for years prior to it. I have faith in it and it's durability. What i experience is difficult to explain but have seen it described often elsewhere. At times that seem completely random, the usb power to the mouse fails. Then, after anything from 0. 1s to 30s it returns. Some days this happens once, other days, like today - it will occur every 15s whilst in game and the machine is under stress. I've attempted switching usb ports, updated drivers for the mouse, chipset, tweeked power suspend settings and nothing has helped.

I have tested another bottom of the line logitech mouse, not a problem at all. I've tested the g5 on xp os machine, no issues. I'm not sure what has happened but until a few months ago, even with win7 installed the g5 worked perfectly. I believe an update i picked up somewhere along the way seems to have done something to cause the problem. Unfortunately though, i have no idea which or how to resolve the problem. Any advice would be much appreciated, as i'm about ready to give win7 the shelf and revert back to a more trustworthy xp.

Usb Mouse / Keyboard Stop Working Correctly

I originally had windows vista x64 on my computer (it is 8 months old, intel quad core 2. 0ghz, 6 gb ram etc). I installed windows 7 rc in july (clean install) and used it until 2 weeks ago, when i installed windows 7 professional edition (i reinstalled vista and then installed the windows 7 upgrade using the clean install).

Over the past few days, i have had problems with mouse and keyboard (both usb connected). The inputs start acting bizarrely. For example, using the scroll button in firefox causes the font sizes to change in firefox, instead of scrolling, and clicking on links opens the link in a new windows, not in the same window. Right clicking stops functioning. The keyboard input goes simultaneously strange- i can no longer type (for eg in firefox search boxes, or in wmp), of if i type, it uses another command to open something etc.

I do not understand what is going on! However, after rebooting, the problem goes away and everything works fine, until the next time it happens (has happened 3x now). I have tried my mouse and keyboard in my old laptop and they both seem to work fine. I have not receive any driver errors/ virus messages/ malfunction(bitdefender 2010) messages of any kind, and as far as i know, all drivers are up to date.

Does anyone know what is going on? Is there something wrong with my motherboard? And if so, why are there no error messages? And why do things work again after rebooting?

Keyboard Keeps Disconnecting - Digital Media Pro

My windows digital media pro keyboard works fine in xp, but my win7 home premium (64bit) keeps using it and then, seemingly at random, it no longer is connected and no keys or controls work. Unplugging the usb connector and waiting 2 minutes, then replugging restores the keyboard. Until it randomly disconnects again. Have installed the 7. 1 driver/software from ms website (which makes the keyboard functions all work, but does not fix the issue). No event logs for disconnects, but after each plug in i get 4 syslog entries, culminating in : any thoughts?

Mouse Scrolling Stuck With Wireless Mouse

I have a labtec wireless optical mouse for notebooks. It causes scrolling to involuntarily occur with sliders and drop-down boxes as long as the mouse is hovering over the item.
For example:

1) when i signed up to these forums and had to choose a country the mouse scrolled through the list right to the bottom without my intervention (other than selecting the drop-down box). Almost all drop down boxes tend to be effected regardless of what program it is in.

2) if i try to adjust the volume in the system tray the mouse raises the sound even while i am trying to lower it.

3) in certain programs the mouse will scroll through the page automatically. It does not do this with all programs. Chrome, ie, firefox, acrobat, notepad and many others are not affected.

4) i did not have these issues with xp at all, but i did when i used ubuntu (mouse would cycle through tabs and always cycle to the first box on the ubuntu taskbar. I had to alt-tab to change windows. )

5) when i first installed chrome the mouse would automatically scroll through the tabs to the first one even if all i did was hover over the tabs. I could could only properly select another tab if i clicked it and then moved the mouse from the tabs quickly. I did this which fixed the issue: "the document suggests changing some registry values to disable this high resolution behavior.

5 Button Mouse Acts As 2 Button Mouse

I have been using the microsoft wireless laser 8000 mouse (4 buttons & scroll wheel) without any issues under windows xp and windows server 2008 r2. Unfortunately, i am not able to get the extra functions (left, right buttons and scroll wheel) to react at all. I have the latest intellipoint 7. 0 64-bit installed. I have uninstall and reinstalled the software, uninstalled the software and did a "clean" boot to install the software, without success. How can i fix this problem?

Failed Ir Usb Cir Install Usb Card Reader Problem

I have a reasonably clean and fresh w7 pro 32 install on a fujitsu lifebook t series tablet. I recently bought an epraizer card reader to enable me to import photos from a cf.

On installing it for the first time, the driver installs failed. The driver it failed on was the ehome infrared receiver (usbcir). To the best of my knowledge, the device does not contain an ir device of any sort.

I inserted the same device in an xp machine and it worked fine. Have i:

(A) wasted my money, (b) encountered a known problem with a simple fix (do tell), or
(C) tripped over something nasty i don't want to know about (see a)?

Identify Usb 2.0 Cables / Test Usb Cable Speed

Is there a way to tell if a cable is usb 2. 0? Or better yet, is there a was to test usb tables to find their transfer rate?I have a huge supply of usb cables to go through. Some are clearly marked usb on the connector or on the wire itself. But most cables have no markings to indicate their spec. I've searched a lot and found no good and reliable way to test them. I've seen recommendations to try to use the cables to transfer large files and watch the speed. But that does not seem reliable and won't work since i have all sorts of different end connectors to test.

And i've seen some spec information such as there will not be a ferrite connector on 2. 0 cables. And 2. 0 cables won't be longer than 3m. But i am looking for something that will tell me definitively if the cables are 2. 0 spec. And better yet, what is the actual transfer speed since some cables are better than others. I would prefer some marking or physical characteristics on the cable that would tell the version. But i am open to (hopefully inexpensive) test equipment too. Some sort of terminator-like tester would be ideal.

Usb Flash Drive - Usb Device Is Not Recognized

I have tried 4 different usb flash drives from different manufacturers and my usb hard drive from western digital. Windows 7 recognizes it until i start transferring files. Then it can't find the drive. When i unplug it and plug it back in, i get a notification that the usb device is not recognized. After i restart the computer, it does the same thing all over again. I ran vista before windows 7 and never had this problem. I am very frustrated. I must have access to my flash & external drives or windows 7 is useless to me.
