Don't Want Password On Startup

I have a question about the startup (not from sleep, but from turned off) on windows 7. It always asks me to log in with a password. Sometimes i would rather not have this happen - i just want it to turn on without a password. Where do i go in windows to turn off the demand for the password, if i do not want it? I see directions about how to turn off the password, when the computer wakes form sleep, but not how to turn it off when the computer turns on from being all the way off. It is not a shared computer and most of the time, i do not want the password.

Speakers Dont Work

Bought windows 7 yesterday (experienced with xp)

Yesterday (16th january) i tried to get sound into my headset, so i figured i tried to do as i always did with xp.

Start - control panel - hardware and sounds - manage audio devices - properties (for main speakers)

At action: i choses inactivate, at that moment the speakers icon disappeared and i lost my sound in my speakers ever since. I cant find any sorts of configuration/controls over speakers. However before i did this my speakers worked perfectly normally. Now i have to use my headset to even be able to hear anything.

Please help me, how do i get my speakers icon back at sounds configuration at the control panel
Im not very good at fixing computer problems so please respond in a way a "dummy" would understand.

Programs Dont Run In Win 7

I am having a problem with windows-7. I have done a upgrade from vista and found that was a mistake. I did a reinstall as a dual boot because i still needed vista to run the programs that would not run in windows-7. I found that windows-7 is a bigger problem than vista. I had to do a download to run my hp printer that i bought in january of this year. I still cant run my hp photosmart 812 camera. The software won't load. I can't get microsoft age of empires-2 to run with good graphic.

I have about four more that will only run while i am in vista. I have written to hp and they have no plans to update their software. I ran the windows-7 adviser and my computer passed. If i had it to do over, i would not have gone to windows-7 from vista. I have not found any reason to change to windows-7. I am going back to vista and just write this off as a bad experience.

Hot Link Buttons Dont Work

When i load some web sites the hot link buttons aren't working. The problem just appeared. I don't remember any changes to the system. Running windows vista) i am talking about buttons that you click on on a web site that call up pop-up windows. This one site i frequent has buttons that i have always clicked on to call up results pop-ups from bridge games.

All of a sudden when the site opens the outlines of the buttons are there but no filler and no functionality. What has changed and how can i fix it?  I've tried changing cookie settings, and tried to find answers in various help areas. I know the buttons work on the site because i have checked on other computers.

Error - You Dont Have Sufficient Access To Your Computer To Connect

I am running win 7 home premium via parallel desktop 5. 0 on my mac and am trying to add a printer using bonjour service. In the past, when i was using the win 7rc, there was no issue, however this time i keep getting the error "you don't have the sufficient access to your computer to connect to the selected printer". Can anyone help me in diagnosing this problem. I know this issue is not with parallel setup, as the rc is working fine.

Logitech Quickcam Express Webcams Dont Work

I have an older logitech quickcam express v-uh9 that doesn't seem to get detected by windows 7 (64bit). Old drivers don't work under compatibility mode and also auto detect doesn't seem to find a driver for it either. Software seems to install properly but then just keeps saying to plug in my webcam (i've tried every usb port i have on my computer). I have another webcam that has the same problems (from retail plus).

I'm guessing that his might be a trend with older web-cams?

Win 7 Startup

I'm running a dell e521 which started life with vista. I upgraded months ago to windows 7. The upgrade went quite smooth. This past week i was performing a system restore to a previous date when during the process the computer rebooted which is normal. I got the dell logo, then the windows 7 start-up screen with the four little revolving lights. Then the computer progressed to the black screen with the cursor in the center and froze at that screen. I have been unable to get past this screen since. I tried rebooting with the windows 7 repair disc but with no success.

I have since bought and installed a new hard-drive and was able to extract most but not all of my files from my external hard-drive. I would like to know if there is a solution to fixing my old drive so that i can retrieve all of my data and perhaps use it as a second drive in my computer. Note; when this problem hard-drive is connected i can't get past this black screen so i cannot access my computer to find a fix.

Unmute On Startup

I purchased my laptop with vista on it, with an upgrade to 7 home premium when it was released. I've since installed, but now the system automatically turns the sound on at startup. It never had a problem with vista, and i didn't mind that the very first time i booted into 7

This is particularly annoying when i'm in class and someone sends me a message and the whole class think's i'm talking away. I've had more dirty looks from instructors in the past few months than i can remember.

I know i can go through and disable all the sounds, and switch between sound schemes, but i would rather not bother going through that path 2-3 times a day. How do i get my sound settings to stay where i put them?

No Startup Folder

Recently, i put a program in the startup folder in

C:usersadminappdataroamingmicrosoftwindowsstart menuprogramsstartup

I later decided that i didn't want the program to startup every time i log on, but instead of deleting the program i accidentally deleted the startup folder instead. The folder is no longer in the recycling bin. Does anyone have any idea of how to replace my startup folder because i would really like to put some programs in there.

I've tried using task scheduler, but didn't find it to be very effective. What i really need is a new startup folder.

Freezes On Startup

I have a computer that is one day old and will not start up (windows 7 home premium 64 bit). It will freeze at "windows starting. " It will freeze under safe mode at the classpnp.sys file. I have attempted to boot from a recovery dvd and it will not not not boot from it and freeze, and the bios settings are set to boot from the optical drive 1st. It will freeze when i try to enter the repair console.

I am out of ideas as to what to do, and i can find no answers online.

The comlete story is as follows: i was installing various programs fine (office, symantec, turbotax 04-09, etc). After installing adobe photoshop, the os "freaked out. "  I have no other way to describe it. Various components of the screen starting flickering (not the entire screen, but certain parts of programs). The touchpad became unresponsive, jerky, and seemed to click on its own. The computer began a shutdown sequence - because updates had queued, those began installing once the os logged off. Upon power on, i made it to the welcome screen. Each time, the touchpad was unresponsive, and the keyboard seemed to have its own inputs, because it would freeze and lock me out of the system.

After a few cold shutdowns, the touchpad and keyboard stopped acting weird (i know this sounds crazy, but i swear its true), and i was able to log in. I created the recovery dvds using the vaio console, uninstalled photoshop, and did a system restore to before the photoshop installation. The computer shut down, but has never been able to completely boot into the windows welcome screen.

Startup Faliure

On june 23, 2010, my computer received an auto-update from microsoft. I believe that that my computer restarted once after the update, but since then, it fails to start up at all. The computer does not usually get as far as providing me with the repair screen options, but occasionally does. Those efforts were unsuccessful. I have even tried making the repair using the os software disc. However, that was not successful. Usually, i end up with a completely black screen. Dditionally, i tried to restore the computer to three prior periods, but each attempt has failed. I received the following information after the failed repair efforts:

Problem event name: startup repair offline problem signature 01: 6. 1. 7600. 16385 problem signature 02: 6. 1. 7600. 16385 problem signature 03: unknown problem signature 04: 21201010 problem signature 05: auto failure problem signature 06: 4 problem signature 07: bad patch os version: 6. 1. 7600. 2. 0. 0. 256. 1 local id: 1033

I'm guessing that i got dinged in the update that was downloaded. Regardless, i just want to get my computer back up and working. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Yes, i have disconnected all of the external devices and still have made no progress with this problem.

Password Reset

I just purchased dell inspiron 1545 and set up my user name and password. I've ordered my modem. I bought a transfer cable to connect my older pc to this one to transfer my files. The problem is that i can't log on because it won't accept my password. I just set it yesterday when i took it out of the box. I've checked everything i know such as caps lock and possibly transposing my password. The password i set up is the same one i've been using on my other pc for years, so i know i didn't forget it.

I need to find out how to bypass the log in to reset the password.

Password Lockout

I have just set up my new toshiba satellite l450d-11v 15. 6 purchased this morning. I set the password on set up and re-entered it and it was accepted. I later turned off the power and when i turned it on again it asked for password and accepted it fine. I decided i did not really need a password and went to control panel to remove it. It is telling me that the password is incorrect, i have tried several times and still will not let me remove it and now after switching it off it will not let back in to windows.

I know that what i am typing is correct. Surely i could not have made an error in the spelling then done the same thing on the re-enter and the next log in. I have a recovery disk with the laptop. I wondered if i should use it.

Forgotten Password

I made the mistake of setting up a laptop for my grandmother using win 7, and set her account as the admin/user account. It was working when i left two weeks ago, and she logged in twice since then. However she said she was not sure what she did, but now i can not log into her account using the password i set for her. Since it is the admin account i can not go in and blow it away, and the only other account on the system is 'guest'. Which in vista and earlier versions is limited. What are my options on getting back into the main account?

Incorrect Password

Just today, i went a bought myself a nice hp laptop, windows 7, 64-bit operation system, and so on. And after i created the 5 recovery disc's, i restarted my computer. Before i had created the discs, i set up a password and account and such, but when i restarted my computer. It said the password was incorrect, for some odd reason. I am wondering how i could bypass the password? In the old system, all i had to do was go into the administrator account and reset it from there, but i didn't set up the administrator account, and i swear i'm typing in the same password, i even tried using the fn key, and ctrl+shift stuff, as well as caps lock.

Power On Password

I pushed the power on, just as i normally do. But found out displaying this: "power-on password". The last time i use it was like the usual thing i do. I do now know the password and how i ended up with this. I tried some of these: i tried to remove the battery for a meantime and hoping it will turn on normally but still shows the same result. Everytime i click enter, it shows the same until 3rd time. Everytime i click f11 or any function keys, it still shows the same. I just purchased windows 7 9 months ago but haven't experienced any negative things until now.

Network Password

Have networked a new windows 7 system to linux.network looks good, but when trying to share files i get a prompt for a network password. When setting up, the software generated a ten digit network password. The system now does not recognize the password it generated. When i view in the vault i noticed that it is expecting an eight digit password? Why does it generate this password in the first place if i am an administrator? If i want one i will slot it in myself surely. Am not a regular windows user and i now remember why!

How To Login Without Password?

In windows 7 i have a computer named hal. Hal has an account named dave which has the password daisy. On hal i share a folder, in the sharing options i allow "everyone" read/write access. Dave remains owner and is unchangeable.

On another machine i try to access hal, it requests credentials to access the share. I already stated that i want everyone to be allowed without a password, but it still will not let me access the share when i type "everyone" as the username. It will only let me access the share if i use dave/daisy but this is a problem as i would then have to disclose my personal password to everyone.

That is issue number one, issue number two:

I have remote desktop setup to access pc2 from pc1, pc2 has a username and password dave, and daisy
I can access remote desktop this way but i decide i would rather just be able to login to remote desktop without the use of a password. I disable dave's password and try to login but it tells me that i cannot login with blank passwords " login failure: user account restriction. Possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed, logon hour restrictions or a policy restriction has been enforced. "

Why are these annoyances in place and how do i disable them so that i do not require a password for the simple act of sharing folders and logging in via remote desktop?

Docked vs. Undocked hardware profiles. As we all know in xp i could have programs like outlook and response point load on startup when i am docked at the office. But at home where i did not need outlook and response point to load at startup they would not because they i was undocked and they were not in the startup up folder for undocked. I am aware that this hardware profiles are no longer an option in 7. But is there a was to have some programs startup when i am at the office and not when i am at home?

How To Get A Program Run On Startup?

Win 7 home premium i'd like to get a temperature utility program such as realtemp or core temp running on startup.core temp has a setting to have it run on startup, but it doesn't. (Neither of these are installed programs, but standalone .exe files that i run with a shortcut. )I've tried placing a short cut for either program into the startup folder but still have to start either one up manually. If i run system configuration, with either shortcut in the startup folder, it shows it being set for running on startup, but it doesn't run. http://moz.execulink.net/~jspirko/temp/system_config.jpg

Taskbar Freeze At Startup

I had tried several times now, but the same happend. When i upgraded first time from xp to win 7 everything went ok until a few days later. Then started the taskbar to freeze, i could not click any items in the taskbar etc. Until i start the task manager by pressing #ctrl-alt-del" when i had dne that the task bar can be used again !I had tried to run 5-6 different virus scanners, i have avg installed, nothing from any of them, i thought in the beginning it could be a problem with the csrss.exe file as in the task-manger can i not see the properties, it not come up at all, also it not show who user ise the csrss.exe, my notebook does that !

I had re-installed the win 7 2 times again, and now it seems like the taskbar freeze at sratup, so when had had started the task-manager 1 time it works all ok ! That is quite strange !Any have a brilliant idea about what is wrong ! My computer is an acer stationary, 2 gb ram. Intel core duo e4500 2. 2 ghz. Windows / 32 bit.

Taskbar Freezing After Startup

When windows starts the taskbar is frozen, and i cannot click on anything. All icons on the desktop are not affected and can be clicked. When i click ctrl+alt+del, then cancel it, it goes back to normal and works fine.

I was on windows vista when this was happening. Once a installed windows 7, with an otherwise empty computer, it is still happening. As there is nothing else on my pc now, i presume it is microsoft related, or hardware.

I have tested the memory and its fine. I have checked the temperatures and there fine. The bios is upto date. There are no virus's or malware present.

I have now ran out of ideas, and for the life of me cannot work it out

I have checked on google, and used many tech forums to no avail?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated?

Have just moved a few pc's at home to windows 7 (one ultimate and the others home premium) and am having problems with startup programs not starting. The programs are all in msconfig as startup items but when i log in they don't start. All of the users are administrators but the only way to get them to start is via the start menu. When i do start them it comes up with the warning about do you want the following program make changes to your computer. Is there anyway to make these programs run at startup?

Black Screen At Startup

Bsod? With cursor? Updated my pc to windows 7 after vista gave me the true bsod a long time ago. I couldn't make a connection to my network's router. I restarted my pc using start->shut down when i pressed the power button, startup was same as usual. Until it got stuck on the black screen with cursor. Unable to start in safe mode. F8 will not do anything. Crtl-alt-del shuts my pc down instantly. I'd tell you the specifics of my pc if i thought that would be helpful but i've been running windows 7 since it came out with no problems. It's been over a week at least since i've downloaded anything.

Quicktime Error On Startup

Machine = dell studio running 64 bit windows vista with sp 2. I installed the latest version of quicktime. There was an error at the end of the install, but no error message beyond "windows installer has stopped. " Nothing specific. When i try to run quicktime, i get the "please install apple application support' error. I did some research and found that it was suggested that i re-register the vbscript.dll. I tried this, but got an error code = 0x80004004 message saying the call to the registration server failed. I don't know if this has anything to do with the original problem.

Startup Issue With Upgrades

I purchased a new computer a couple of months ago and have had on-going problems when turning the system on. Windows 7(64bit) was loaded by the supplier. To start with start up repair would loop two ot three times and then be unable to fix the problem, after re-loading and up grading using the disc, i now have the problem that start up repair fixes the problem and all appears ok. On turning off the system, there are always 14 upgrades. Leave the computer for several hours and turn on, start up repair fixes the problem. Shut down and there are 14 upgrades again and so on.

Error Message Upon Startup

I'm not certain this is the forum i should be in but if i am in the wrong place, please someone redirect me to the correct place okay ?! Upon start up when i turn on, boot up or whatever you wanna call it, i always receive this error message and i have done everything i can think of to get rid of it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled programs that i thought that particular .dll file
Came with and on and on but nothing has worked.

Error message: the program can't start because msvcr71.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem.

I have searched and brought all of the crazies out of the woodwork with their "magical fixes" if you install this registry scan and that registry scan but i have enough smarts to know that is all they do is scan, none of them actually fix the issue.

Anyway, is there a simple fix for this. I ran a system restore but my restore points don't go back far enough and the error message box is still there! Lost

System Freezes During Startup

After behaving normally for two weeks or more, my computer (using retail copy of win 7 professional 32 bit system) will not start up.

It freezes during the "microsoft starting" phase. The 4-color logo never gets formed up and that's it. I have tried all or most of the config and reboot options but nothing happens i always get stuck at the same place. When i use the option that shows the 32 bit system drivers getting loaded it never gets past . Disk.sys or the next one . Snp.sys. And that screen ends with "please wait".

There were some downloads/updates installed on last good day (thursday 1/21/2010). I might have downloaded firefox that day as well. One more thing i set up a (wireless) network but i only have one win 7 machine so i don't think it will do anything for me.

Upon the next start-up two days later - i experienced this trouble that will not go away. I do not have a boot-up disk but when i try to start with the original dvd media the same thing happens - it appears to read the disk then the "microsoft starting" begins and ends just as already described.

Freezes On Startup Logo

I have windows7 home premium and am doing a clean install. The installation completes, but when windows 7 starts up for the first time, it freezes at the "starting windows" after the little balls have come together to make the windows logo. Keyboard strokes and mouse movements do not do anything, and i have no choice but to restart the computer by physically pressing and holding the power button. Windows recovery and repair doesn't fix it. I have a gigabyte ga-h55m-ud2h motherboard, intel i3-530 cpu, and 4gb memory, the boot drive is a sataii western digital drive. I removed 2gb of memory and tried the install again with the same result. What now?
