Blue Screen At Login

I bought my friend laptop after he came back from iraq cause he no longer wanted it. I was going threw changing the stuff to make it mine, like user name and what not. Well i tried to change the computer name as it was his name kebowlin-pc and it said to do this to restart the computer. I did, and now when the computer gets to windows 7 login screen it goes to the blue screen error. I have done two system restores with no luck. I have also tried changing the name back with now luck. This is what it is telling me.

Also a weird thing that i don't under stand is that the main user file is his name and it has a little lock on its pic in the user files, but i am the only person on the computer and the only admin.

Black Screen Before Login

Computer was running fine until today anyways, i started up a game to play this morning and the video card driver started bugging out - it would crash and recover literally every 5 seconds. I assumed that the intel graphics update that i installed 3 days ago might have been the culprit, so i did a system restore back to the date before it was installed.

However, after the login i was presented with a black screen with simply the cursor - task manager worked, explorer.exe was apparently running but i still had a black screen :/ (although only a tenth of the usual system processes were working) i restarted the computer but now i got the black screen before login, after the windows logo shows up and does the twirly thingy o. O running in safe mode has the same result.

I'm thinking it has something to do with the video card driver, but seeing that i can't get windows to startup all the way i've no idea what to do. Tried putting in a windows 7 os disc in to reinstall but the computer doesn't detect it. I did install another program yesterday but i'm not sure if it's related. Info - windows 7 64 bit, hp pavilion dv6 laptop, 2. 1 ghz dual core, 4 gb ram, intel media graphics accelerator (intel gma 4500 mhd or something. )

Black Screen After Login

I have begun the experience issues with the black screen of death problem. I am running windows 7 pro. On a samsung nc10. I get the black screen after login and am unable to use ctrl alt del to access the task manager. I am able to log into windows normally though via one of two methods - this varies. Either bash in the password really fast when the login screen appears, or wait a few minutes on the login screen then login. I have tried the prevx's fix but this has been unsuccessful. I have just checked my display drivers with samsung but the driver i have installed is upto date.

I have checked around on the web and i think the  only option is to repair install or reinstall but i don't see why this would be relevant or how i would stop the same problem from happening again in another week. I have checked for malware and don't think there is a problem i have also checked for viruses using eset smart sec. And haven't encountered any issues. Do you have any constructive advise?  Do you know when microsoft plan on releasing a fix for this issue?

White Screen On Login

I am running a toshiba satellite portable computer. Upon logging into the admin user account the screen goes white and stays white. Unlike other people i am unable to get the task manager, my only options are lock, switch user, log off and change a password. I am fixing this for a friend and have never encountered this type of issue before. Safeboot results in a black screen with nothing ever happening. Same with command prompt.

I suspect it has something to do with a process starting up. Install discs are not available as this machine is roughly 3 years old and have been misplaced. Just looking for a way even if temporary to at least get the files off it i need so i can wipe the system. I hate vista with a passion. Anyone's quick and speedy response would be great!

Screen Freezes After Login Within Few Seconds

When i first installed my windows 7 worked perfectly. Now when ever i log in after a few seconds the screen freezes. When i switch user and log in a again but i can't get past 10-15 seconds before the cycle repeats itself. I cannot function with this. Is my windows 7 defective? I thought windows 7 fixed this. My mozilla firefox browser also crashes 15-20+ times a day and my dvd drive does not work anymore both which worked fine and did not crash before when i had vista. Are both my dell studio 1737 and windows 7 home premium defective.

Screen Saver Slows Down Login

I upgraded from vista ultimate to win7 ultimate a number of months ago. Everything works fine, except that whenever i activate any screen-saver, and it runs for a few hours, getting back to the login screen takes five minutes. If the screen-saver runs for a few minutes, no problem. My solution is just to lock the computer, but i wish i could use my screen-saver photos (happens on other screen-savers also). I don't want to do a clean install; not worth it for this inconvenience. Any other suggestions?

Shut Down Computer From Login Screen

I have my windows 7 systems set up with user account passwords. I sometimes accidentally bump my keyboard and wake my computer up from sleep mode, taking it to the login screen where it waits for a password. How do you shut the computer off or put it back to sleep from the login screen? There isn't a button or anything. Does windows not let you shut the computer off until you log in? It's a completely unnecessary hassle to have to log in to put the computer back to sleep, not to mention if someone else in my family accidentally woke the computer up they wouldn't be able to put it back to sleep at all.

Black Screen After Login With Mouse Cursor

I have windows 7 enterprise (bitlockered with tpm).system worked fine for a week. Hp elitebook laptop with nvidia fx2700 video (installed display driver from hp site).

Today i logged in and get a black screen with mouse cursor. Can move cursor around screen. Laptop appears to be running, but screen is black. Can not bring up task manager (or can not see it).
This is not a monitor selection issue (can't switch to another monitor). Plus, mouse cursor is visible.

If i hit crtl-alt-delete, the menu comes up. I can logoff or reboot (can not see task manager).
If i logoff or restart, i go to the windows login screen as normal. Attempt to login and get same black screen. I am trying to login to a domain account.

I can login to local admin account. Seems to work fine from this profile. Is this just a corrupt profile issue? Recreating profile will be difficult from off site. Can try system restore.

I have seen several questions posted regarding black screens, but symptoms seem varied in each case.
Has anyone else had a similar scenario and found an easy fix?

Pc Stuck At Login Screen On Normal And Safe Mode

I turned my pc on in the morning and everything loads up until i get to the login screen and i can't do anything. The mouse doesn't move, the touchscreen doesn't do anything, and the same goes for the keyboard. I've tried "safe mode" and the same problem occurs. I've checked for errors and tried to start at last known good configuration and the problem is still there. I booted into windows vista and it worked like a charm. However, whenever i go into windows 7 the problem is present. If anyone could please help, i would be very thankful.

Crashes And Debugging - Black Screen After Login, Safe Mode Ok

My laptop seems to hang after the login screen, the screen either goes completely black or sometimes shows the desktop picture and an empty taskbar, but i am unable to do anything such as task manager. Leaving the system running for 10-15 minutes after trying ctrl-alt-del will bring up some error message, but i forget what it said, i'll try to get it again.

I can get into safe mode just fine, and ran the sf diagnostic tool from there, i have attached the files it created as requested. The laptop hung on me on shutdown before this issue started and after waiting for 30 minutes for it to try to shut down normally it wasn't responding so i had to power it down. I'm thinking that might've fudged something up but i'm unsure if there were any windows updates queued at the time or not. I'm really unsure what to do at this point, there aren't any system restore points, i didn't remember turning it off but i must have at some point.

Blue Screen - Driver_power_state_failure

I have owned windows 7 for about 5 months now. I upgraded to windows 7 professional from windows xp home edition. I also upgraded to 4gb of ram. Since then, i have, at random times, received the blue screen of death and then my computer quickly shuts down and reboots. I haven't bothered with getting it fixed because it wasn't too much of a problem for me, but now it seems to be recurring a lot more often. I have already had it happen twice today.

However, sometimes it is not always a blue screen, it may just turn black, shut off, and reboot. When it is a blue screen i notice it says driver_power_state_failurealso note that whenever this problem happens, i am always on internet explorer 8, not doing anything out of the ordinary either. My computer just gets these screens at random times. I have looked at other topics in this forum for the answer, but it has been difficult finding a solution.

Blue Screen Problem

I been lurking around here for sometime hoping to find some answers to my problem. While cleaning my files in my laptop, i accidentally delete my boot.ini so i encountered "ntdlr missing problem "press alt ctrl delete". I have my windows xp 98 cd & made a boot from there but it's asking for administrator password although i didn't have a password. So i given up on doing this stuff.

To keep my old files from losing i decided not to reformat my laptop since i didn't have any back up of it. So my friend & i decided to install windows 7, but whenever i watch movie from a dvd- rom i encountered some problem. The images goes blurred then eventually my laptop crashed. Diagnosis were:

Blue Screen Of Death

Running windows 7 professional, ie 8 - keep getting unexpected shutdowns with the following errors: 1) memory management and 2) pfn list corrupt. For the memory management error i have run the memory diagnostics and the results indicate that i have a hardware problem and i should contact the manufacturer (gateway). Unfortunately, i no longer have a warranty and they charge $60 for 1/2 hour. (I have spent that much and the technical support person didn't resolve my problem).

I don't have a clue as what pfn list corrupt is. Please note that i am not a tech person and all the reports(dumps) that vare generated are useless to me, since they are not clear to read.
I do run all my maintenance and antivirus programs daily and try to keep everything according to protocol. Yet i keep getting the blue screen of deaths. Please also note that i always get a window after the fact that reads: "windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown. "

1) if i purchase a new hard disk, would this take care of the problem or not?

2) does ram have anything to do with these errors? 3) what other alternatives are there?

Would appreciate solid guidelines and your enlightening me on the above resolution.

Constant Blue Screen

I recently purchased a computer running windows 7 home premium 64-bit. Here are the basic specs.
Intel(r) core(tm) i5 cpu 750 @ 2. 67 ghz 8. 00gb ram

I bought this pc mainly for gaming (primarily steam, but i've been running games like dragon age: origins and cryostas is without the client). However, recently, every time i quit a game (or any program that's full screen, really) or attempt to change my resolution/display settings, i instantly get a blue screen. This can be at any time; i can boot the computer (which only take about 45-60 seconds) and instantly boot, for example, team fortress 2; and the second i quit it, i get the blue screen. Because of this i somehow doubt it has anything to do with overheating issues, but i myself wouldn't really know. Here's the error code that i receive upon windows' revival.

Blue Screen 0x1e

Well, i received a new computer about a month ago, and it's been running perfectly until today. I started it up and was customizing the dock when my virus program, mcafee, told me i needed to restart my computer because it had recently updated. After it rebooted, it ran fine until suddenly a blue screen popped up with some text on it. Sorry, but i didn't have time to read the text because it popped up and left so fast. I did get to read something about it needing to shutdown to protect data (i think), but that's about it.

Anyway, when it rebooted, it stopped in the middle of it and told me the unexpected shutdown caused some problems and told me that i might be able to recover my data if i started windows in safe mode, so i chose the regular safe mode and rebooted it. It started with the screen resolution in 800x600, and looked like windows 2000 with a few different things. The background was now this black screen with "safe mode" text in all four corners, and "microsoft" text centered on top of the screen. It opened up two things, one being a "what is safe mode" help window, and the other being some sort of error window telling me that "windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" and that windows could "check online for a solution to the problem the next time you go online. ' and then told me the error details.

After i had read all of it and copied the error details to a notepad file, i rebooted again hoping it'd turn back to normal. It started up again and is currently running normally without any problems, but i still want to know what happened, why, and how i could fix and/or prevent the issue from appearing in the future.

Blue Screen When Using Ie8

I get a bsod randomly when using ie8. Using bluescreen view i typically get the following info: a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ntoskrnl.exedriver_corrupted_expool if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.

If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need. If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable bios memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press f8 to select advanced startup options, and then
Select safe mode. Technical information:*** stop: 0x100000c5 (0x00000004, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x82f2104d)*** ntoskrnl.exe - address 0x82f2104d base at 0x82e01000 datestamp 0x4c1c3faci could use some help in resolving this problem.

Bluetooth Causes Blue Screen

I installed a usb bluetooth adapter today on my toshiba laptop running windows 7, and i have been getting consistent blue screen errors since the install. The computer generally starts fine, but shortly after log in (2-10 minutes) i get a blue screen error. I went into msconfig and disabled the new entry under startup and services titled "bluetooth service", but that has not solved the problem, and now i am getting the error even when the adapter is not plugged in. The error listed in the action center is below.

Blue Screen With Error D1

Blue screen with windows 7 i"ve been running windows 7 since it came out in october with no issues. Back in march after an update and reboot i've had restart after restart problems, many giving me different errors everytime. Sometimes i can load in safe mode, but it usually takes me rebooting 10 times to get there. I roll back to the previous update and seem to get restarted only to start the process all over again on another reboot. Some of the errors i've gotten are memory_management, or unknown hard error(systemootsystem32dll.dll), a usb driver error, page fault in non page area, e tc.

I haven't installed anything, and even tried a clean install and before i run any updates im getting restart errors again. I currently have all updates turned off so its not a new update thats causing this. Im ready to go back to windows xp im so frustrated. We run windows 7 on 4 other computers and we haven't had any issues so not sure why its just me. This is a copy of the latest error i received

Blue Screen - Memory_management 0x1a

Ok so i turn on my computer and it starts up fine and either gets to the windows 7 splash or actually to the desktop where i can start up any of my programs or players, regardless of how far it goes i get a bsod, blue screen of death, and immediate restart and after the restart my windows works fine for the most part. Below is the information that i'm able to pull up about the problem.

So that we're clear about what i've done to fix the problem myself:
1) i reinstalled the os
2) i used a burned image of my then working os.
3) i've checked and removed an external hdd.
4) even checked and updated my bios for my mobo.

Still as i said below is the error information that get for this weird problem.

I just purchased a brand new computer (hp, desktop) in november, with windows 7 home premium already installed. I haven't had any problems and love the new operating system. But starting the other day, a blue screen pops out of nowhere with a bugcode_usb_driver error. It has happened four times so far. I've never ran into a problem like this before and have no clue on where to begin. I'd greatly appreciate any help to resolve this issue.
