Pc Restarts Randomly

Okay so i have a relatively new velocity micro gaming computer that is about 3 weeks old and i have recently been experiencing one big problem. My computer just randomly restarts for no apparent reason (usually when i leave it alone for like half an hour to watch tv or something) and when it starts back up it gives an error message like windows did not shut down properly and it gives me the option to enter safe mode. I am currently running the paid version of norton internet security and i have already scanned my computer for viruses (full scan not quick scan).

In addition i have updated windows with all the recommended settings and updated my nvidia gt 220 video card driver from their website. I have performed all sorts of scans but i don't see any real problem that could be causing it. I am pretty sure it is not power-related because i'm using a good outlet with a surge panel. I also went into my system settings and unchecked the thing that says restart on system failure, but the problem still persists.

Update Restarts Computer

Each night windows update restarts my computer and updates my driver software for wireless. I have to roll back the driver to get the wireless to work. Not sure why this is happening or what the root cause is, but each night the driver is updated by windows update and the wireless radio won't work. I then go and roll back the driver to the previous version and it works perfectly. I have 64 bit windows 7 hp laptop with an atheros ar9285 802. 11 b/g wifi adapter. If i click update driver in the device manager the same thing occurs.

Computer Freezes And Restarts

I have bought a new computer in late december 2009 and from the beginning i've been having two problems, the computer randomly restarts and more seldom but still a problem, the computer freezes. These events can happen with a frequency less than one time each day and sometimes as often as three times a day. The computer can be on reasonable load or hardly any load at all when it happens.

My computer parts looks like the following and i've got windows on one of my two ssds:

Western digital caviar black wd2001fass 64mb 2tb
Lg bh08ls20
Corsair dominator gt ddr3 pc12800/1600mhz cl8 4x2gb
Gainward geforce gtx 275 896mb physx pci-express 2. 0, 2xdvi
Gigabyte geforce 210 oc hdmi 512mb
Antec p183
Asus p7p55d-e premium
Antec cp-850 850w
Microsoft windows 7 ultimate eng
Intel core i7 860
Intel x25-m g2 160gb
Logitech wave keyboard (sv)
Lg w3000h

The first time i've received a message when windows was shutting down was just a while ago, and it said something about the memory. I have run memtest86 which showed no problems earlier. I can't open the mini-dump file but got hte following message this one time (have not had any messages like these before and the event viewer hasn't given me any useful information).

Pc Crashes And Automatically Restarts

Original title: pc has become massively unstable when i first installed windows 7 my dell desktop was reinvigorated and ran like a fresh young athlete it woke fast and went back to sleep as quickly.

However this is but a distant memory as my once lithe machine is now nothing more than a grumpy unpredictable demon.

My problems are not measured in days or hours my problems can best be grouped in minutes.

1. The machine will simply re-start sometimes i get a warning more often i do not with absolutely no explanation.

2. Firefox 3. 6 crashes normally within minutes of loading, once it starts crashing there is nothing that will prevent it.

3. Chrome crashes normally within minutes of loading, once it starts crashing there is nothing that will prevent it.

4. Internet explorer crashes normally within minutes of loading; once it starts crashing there is nothing that will prevent it.

5. Windows desktop manager is either corrupt or just plain angry as it crashes without warning or seeming reason.

Anyone with any suggestions as to where to start looking for the problem, or better still a solution will be listened to with my full attention! The sooner the better please as one more week of this and i am going back to xp pro!

Pc Restarts Each Time I Try To Shut Down

I've looked through the forums to see if i could find a solution to this issue, but the most i've been able to find is that there might be an incompatible driver somewhere on my system that's causing this to occur. When i click on "shut down", the computer does shut down, but then it turns back on after a few seconds. I had a clean install of windows 7 ultimate (64-bit)done on the computer to wipe everything off of it and start from scratch, and this still occurs. My computer is an mpc clientpro 424. I've tried disabling automatic restart, and the issue still occurs. Can anyone help?

Automatic Updates Restarts

I have windows 7 with automatic updates on. What really frustrating to me is that whenever i am working on my computer, the windows update decides to restart my computer, terminating all applications without warning or notification to my knowledge. Due to this, my documents in word were closed down without saving and everything i had on the desktop were terminated. It was a force restart and the computer did that automatically without my knowledge. It is very frustrating and i think that whoever designed it this way is not intelligent. This type of design in the system is flawed and should be fixed immediately.

I should have complete control over my computer, not windows having control over me. I should be able to control or postpone the restart, but the computer did not ask me that at all, it just restarted without warning. I am furious by this and would like to know if there is a solution. I switched the settings, now, to "download updates but only i select which to install". Even with the automatic installation of updates settings on, the computer should ask me if i would like to restart now or later, it should not automatically restart. Thank you for your time.

Win7 Restarts On Startup Periodically

Thought it was the motherboard at first, but still sporadically does a restart within a minute or two of starting up, especially if i try to go into firefox or aim within that time frame.

The screen goes black, it says "no signal" then resets.

I check the minidump with windows debug and it comes back as the potential problem being "hardware", so i'm currently getting the replace motherboard checked at asus to see if it was truely a motherboard problem.

I asked a repairman at a local computer store and he suggested to reinstall windows from scratch, and when i mentioned that i upgraded from xp to 7 he said "even microsoft suggests to never upgrade, even from vista". That would not explain the hardware failure though.

Absolutely nothing else goes wrong if it gets past that that 2 minute mark, and the problem seems to be random: sometimes taking 2 days between restarts on startup, all the way to almost a month.

Did memory diagnostic and the memory is fine, hard drive is running fine, i updated the drivers twice on the video card.

This problem seemed to have been prevalent since i upgraded to windows 7, and i fixed up the registry with ccleaner recently.

Suddenly Computer Stops With Blue Screen And Restarts

My system is win 7. I recently got this new notebook. I thought i was having problem with anti-virus but i recently came to know about this blue screen of death. Suddenly the computer stops in between anytime with the blue screen showing up and computer restarts. I recently uninstalled norton which was a free-version which i got with notebook and installed kaspersky. I ve now even removed kaspersky and installed bit-defender but problem is still occurring. No virus detected by both.

I ve even tried to restore the notebook to the day i bought this. But the problem is not fixed. The error message looks something like what appears in this link I am worried that my new system may get hardware problems due to this.

Win 7 Freezes And Restarts When Transferring Files Through Usb

I have been having this problem since the day i got windows 7 and it is really starting to annoy me.
Any time i transfer files through any usb port the computer freezes, a buzzing noise comes from the speakers, the monitor turns off and the computer restarts. This happens when putting films on my hard drive, songs on my phone and syncing my mp3 player so that i actually can't do any of them.

I have uploaded the dump files here:

No problems! Where do i need to look for a solution to this. I've noticed other people having the same problem as well (googled it).

Randomly Rebooting

I recently upgraded my computer hardware, and replaced winxp with win7 home premium oem 64-bit. Since this upgrade, my windows reboots at random intervals. Sometimes the screen shows random pixels before the reboot but not always. Sometimes it shows the blue screen of death (saying "attempt was made to write on a read-only memory").

Windows' own memory-test says everything is fine. I had memtest86+ run for 8 hours straight: no problem, no reboot. So i think this is not a hardware issue, since the computer keeps running for long periods of time if windows is not started.

Windows has been reinstalled already, all drivers have been updated, windows has been updated, norton internet security has been uninstalled. The problem still remains. I've run out of ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Here's the complete hardware profile:

Processor: intel core i3-530 2. 93ghz
Memory: corsair twinx ddr3 1333mhz dhx cl9 kit
Videocard: integrated
Directx-version: directx 10
Motherboard: asus p7h55d-m evo
Harddrive: samsung 1000gb f3 7200rpm 32mb sata2 hd103sj
Power: corsair 450w

Computer Gets To "starting Windows" And Then Restarts Constantly

I just finished my first computer build. It was working fine, so i decided to take my graphics card and install it since everything else seemed good. I install it and the most recent drivers from ati. When i reboot, it gets to "starting windows" and then restarts. Safe mode still works. In my bios it says the gpu voltage is 0. 000, however the fan on the card is spinning. I've tried everything i could find on the web to no avail. Does anyone know what this mixture of symptoms could be caused by?

Getting Bsod Randomly While Using Various Programs

So i upgraded my laptop computer (toshiba satellite) from windows vista 64 to window 7 64, and at first there were no problems. However, as i work, occasionally a bsod will come up. After the computer restarts itself, it shows up with the "find solution to problem" window:

I have tried updating my drivers with windows 7 ones; i've tried cleaning the registry (with regdefense). However, neither of these have done anything to fix my problem. This is very much a problem, because my computer can restart itself without warning. Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

Win 7 Crashes Randomly

Recently my win 7x64 pro started crashing randomly (and now it crashes extremely often, but still at random) like if you pulled the plug. No bsod, no reboot, no crash-dump, nothing. The system only tells me that it didn't shut down properly.

The pc is a asus aspire m7711 (core2quad q8300, 8gb ram, geforce gt130), nothing clocked, no modifications. I've updated win, updated all drivers (except the ms-teredo-tunneling software, for the win update can't find any driver), turned off several stuff in the hardware manager, that could cause the problem and finally reinstalled win 7 it still crashes, sometimes just a few min after i turned it on but in safe mode the pc is stable. It only crashed once, that was some time ago and in user mode it crashed about 80 times in a week.

And the pc still has warranty, so i won't void it by opening the case. I see this as the last option, because i want to know what causes the problem.

Laptop Randomly Hibernates

i'm new to this site and have been experiencing my laptop hibernating randomly the past few days while i am using it. I could be working on anything in my computer, like browsing the web, checking email, etc. , And bam! Hibernates. I know it's not a virus because i have mcafee and windows defender both active and they scan my laptop bi-weekly.

I've asked a few friends at school, and they've given a few possible suggestions; the memory that is being used, or the time i'm using it, (after startup), but i've came to the assumption that it could be both. By both, i mean that once the processor passes a certain memory usage, and a certain time after then, is where the problem could jump from. Since i've thought of that solution, i've tried using less programs together, (e.g. Only the browser or only windows live mail), and as i've been using this solution, it has rarely hibernated w/o notice.

Computer Locks Up Randomly

Recently my computer has been locking up randomly. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it - sometimes it locks up while doing something intensive (like running a graphics-rich game), and other times it locks up when simply sitting idle or typing up a word document. I've tried everything i can to see what the problem is, and i've come up with nothing. I've stress/stability tested my cpu, my gpu, my ram, and my power supply.

I've removed my ide hard disk drive, because the event logger said it was having problems with it. I've tried different power supplies, gpus, and even a different (though same model) motherboard. Nothing turns up any problems - they all test out just fine. The error the event logger shows me is one of two thing.

Either this:-

Color Scheme Randomly Changes

Windows 7 color scheme randomly changes, while working or while idle. Pretty much anytime its just random. I know some programs will force it to change to windows basic. But thats not what i am talking about. It does that same exact thing randomly without asking or popping up a message. Sometimes it will make the screen flicker. Most of the time it goes right back to the aero theme shortly after. I have all the latest hardware and updated drivers. I built this system.

I am running windows 7 ultimate retail. I have an evga x58 sli le motherboard. 6gb of ram, an intel i7 930 processor. Ati radeon 5850 graphics card, 800w ps. My cpu temp never goes above 40c and that has nothing to do with the randomness of this occurrence. I am thinking it may have something to do with background programs, like maybe downloading and/or installing automatic updates and/or program guides for media center. Or maybe i was thinking it could be some kind of malicious software. I do have avast antivirus and i am using windows firewall and all protections that i can.

Computer Randomly Shuts Down

I checked the "similar questions" options and didn't none of the solutions seemed to apply to me, so here goes!:So i've had this computer for a while now (i would say about two years). It's a home-built made by a computer-savvy friend of mine and it's been fantastic. It still has high marks in everything but my hard drive. I'm some-what of a gamer, and it's been running games incredibly well. So i decided to move to taiwan to teach english. I really didn't want to miss out on pc gaming for a year(+), so i brought this sucker with me.

I get to my apartment - no 3-prong outlets!  Get a cheap 2-to-3 prong adapter, buy a fancy new screen, and voila, computer seems to be working!  It made the flight with me! (Yes, i had to check it, i had the airline people put tons of "fragile" stickers on it, but that was probably mistake number one, even though i had the original box, and even though i still tried to keep it from getting damaged by putting in other clothes to hopefully brace the shocks. Nyway, so i'm listening to some itunes, for about an hour and then suddenly. Shut down. Oh well, i'll just turn it on.

Itunes. Shut down. I plug in my first-video-gen ipod to update new songs and what not? Shut down. I also brought my laptop here with me so after several more instances of random shut down, i focus on my laptop, and say goodbye until i can bring it to a repair shop or something in the states or have someone with computer knowledge take a look at it. My laptop dies (it was old and had some liquid damage that i guess finally killed it). So now i have to use my desktop. Hey, it's been working ok, even updating my ipod with no problems!

Oh wait, unless i'm playing music at the same time as updating it. So i just don't do that anymore! My computer-savvy friend recommends that i get a diagnostic program to see why i'm having problems. I get this thing called sisoftware sandra lite 2010 from cnet after reading their enthusiastic review. I start up the program and it starts checking. Something. I can't remember, had to do with running calculations and the computer shuts off.

Almost immediately after the test starts. I download and install starcraft 2. Successfully!  "Wow it stayed on long enough to complete it without shutting down! Maybe it's better!"Try to play starcraft 2 - shuts down. Damn! What is wrong with my computer! I see that the little icon at the bottom right has a red x circle on it. I click on it for the first time. "Troubleshoot a problem with your computer. "Oh, might that fix the problem?"Your computer might be encountering a memory problem. " Hmm, hopefully because that's easy to fix, right? Just buy new memory! So i let the windows memory diagnostic test do it's thing.

It restarts the computer and "oo, that's a new thing" the test starts. 1%. 2%. Shut down! So. Is it my memory? If it was my memory wouldn't the test finish? Is it my cpu?  There is a big fan covering the cpu and it moved slightly after the flight.could that have affected the processor? Is it the fact that it's not technically grounded even though it's plugged into a seemingly ok power strip? Is it something else? The motherboard? The fact that it's 110v here and not the us standard 120v?I've also noticed that i can browse the internet ok, but if i try to full-screen a video, it shuts down!

But if i don't full screen the video, there are no problems. It's also really hot and humid here, and i don't have air conditioning yet. Is it overheating? This case is a coolermaster cosmos, it's supposed to be pretty good at keeping everything cool what is going on!?

Win 7 Hangs Randomly

Finally got a clean custom install of win 7 ultimate to a formatted partition h: on drive 0. Dual boot with working windows vista on the c: drive. Windows 7 boots and occasionally works for a period of time, accesses the internet fine, allows me to install a program, sometimes read email, but randomly freezes with a strange screen display, vertical lines over the existing display.

Eventually the screen becomes completely blurred with odd patterns and remains that way until i reboot. There is no single program that fails consistently. Word processor, and ie fail at different times. Noticed several times it occurred when entering data like password etc. , But at times it fails with a mouse cursor movement. When i boot to windows vista, thankfully it works flawlessly without failures so i can actually accomplish my work. Hoping for some help with this the win7 freeze problem.

Second Hard Drive Randomly Disconnects

I'm running windows 7 ultimate 64-bit, and i have two 500gb sata hard drives connected to my motherboard, both connected via sata cables. I have installed windows 7 on a clean 500gb hard drive (aka my c: drive), and my second drive holds files for games and such. The problem i have is that i'll be on my computer minding my own business, then all of a sudden my second hard drive (aka my d: drive) just disappears and will not show in the hard drive list in windows explorer.

Also, i have all of my music on my d: drive and i'll be in the middle of listening to it and all of a sudden the current song will freeze and i go to check and - yes - i see that the d: drive has been "lost". Weird part is that rebooting the computer solves the issue. However, this random loss of access to my d: drive is usually accompanied by my entire computer freezing, causing me to have to reboot anyway. No matter what, though, my c: drive always seems to remain accessible.

I've tried quite a few things to fix this problem, including replacing the old sata cable that connected my d: drive to my motherboard with a new sata cable - all to no avail, the problem still persists. I'll be right in the middle of a game that i have installed on my d: drive and then *thwack* - the game crashes and the d: drive has been "lost" again.

This problem never occurred until about a month after i installed windows 7 on my computer. The problem just started occurring recently. Because of this, i am reluctant to consider this the fault of windows 7 because this problem was non-existent in the first month of me using windows 7. My d: drive is about 2 years old, but i bought it right from the manufacturer. It is partitioned into two partitions, however: a partition for my game, music, and website files; and a partition where i keep my old installation of windows vista as a "just in case" measure.

I doubt that my d: drive is the problem because, like i said, it is quite new. I've replaced the sata cable connecting it and that has not fixed the problem, so the sata cable isn't it either.could running two partitions for about a year and a half (and one of them being the main os) have caused that much wear-and-tear to my d: drive? I thought satas were quite durable.

Like i said, i'm not 100% sure that this is a problem with windows 7. However, i am starting to think that is the case. If anyone has any tips or advice from past experiences, please let me know. It may be hardware-related, or os-related - i just don't know.

Computer Randomly Freezes In Any Program

Need to reboot after every freeze up. Just installed win7 on new pc. After running sfc/scannow it found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Cbs log read: . Win7 running fine on my other older computer (also 32bit). If anyone would give me some suggestions that would be great.
