System Recovery Option Not Compatible With Version Of Windows

Was organizing the sata connectors in case disconnecting/reconnecting a few hdds, one with the windows 7 64 bit os (h1). Then disconnected all hdds leaving a new one and installed windows 7 64 bit on it (h2) with only it connected. Performed fine. Disconnected it (h2) and reconnected the first one (h2) and windows 7 would not launch, so inserted os disc and it would repair something (i have no idea what as it did not indicate, i found that to be particular helpful by ms) and then windows 7 would launch. From there on, any time i switched between the two drives each having the respective os (h1 or h2), the os disc would need to be used to repair the unspecified problem and launch win. Did this a few times until the first os (h1) the disc no longer could 'repair' what ever needed to be fixed and the famous message follows:

"This version of system recovery options is not compatible with the version of windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of windows"

The real (dis)interesting part to all of this, is that yes important data is off on drives other than the os drive though did have a few files with mostly shortcuts on the desktop. In accessing the first os (h1) via the second (h2), after fighting through the "access is denied" and "ownership rights" ual busines, only half of the files that were on the desktop are actually in the desktop folder/directory. Is it worth fixing the os on h1 to get into windows to see if these files magically reappear or is what i'm seeing directly in the folder all that remains. What happened to files that were on the desktop and what is it with all of these fundamental os/hdd issues with windows 7?

Error - The Version Of This File Is Not Compatible With Version Of Windows

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computers system information to see whether you need an x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

I have a large cd collection published by national geographic. The difficulty lies in installing the program that displays the pages. The program installer ends in . Ins. These picture cd's have been produced by mindscape. When you try to contact them, they are based in france, and it is impossible to obtain support for this product. Is there any way of getting the installer on the cd to do its job of providing a means of turning the 'pages'?

Error - This Version Of The File Is Not Compatible With Version Of Windows

My error message is: "this version of the file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or an x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher. "

I've tried running the program in question (castle of the winds) in every compatibility mode that is on the list and all it does is give me that error message every time. Other people have managed to get the program working, so i know it does work on windows 7, but i can't see to get it to work for me. Help?

A Program Or Firewall Is Not Compatible With This Version Of Windows

I am having a reoccurring windows security alert and  issue with my windows 7 home premium edition.
I have a dell studio1737 laptop. I get a windows security alert warning stating "a program or firewall is not compatible with this version of windows"

Name: microsoft console based script host
Publisher: microsoft corp
Path: c:windowssystem32cscript.exe

I also run norton internet security on my laptop. I am also quite careful about my online activities so i am pretty confident it is not a malware issue. But i could also be wrong.
I have contacted norton support and after removing and reinstalling norton is 2010 a couple of times. They advised me to contact microsoft support for assistance because they could not rectify the issue i am having.

Dell support have not been much help either (nothing new there). I have searched extensively for a solution and an answer but i have unfortunately not found anything that has helped me. Can anybody here help me with this issue. Because i am not filled with confidence at the moment about my laptops security? Also if anybody could give me any information about what cscript.exe is and why it is causing these problems.

This Installation Disc Isn't Compatible With Your Version Of Windows

I'm having a problem installing windows 7 64-bit. I had windows xp 32-bit, but then i "upgraded" to windows vista 64-bit. After i did that, i realized that i hated it, so i went back to 32-bit xp. Now when i try to install windows 7 i get the message "this installation disc isn't compatible with your version of windows. To upgrade, you need the correct installation disc. For more information, check your computer's system information. To install a new copy of windows, restart(boot) your computer using the installation disc, and then select custom(advanced). I have run 64-bit before, and my computer is capable of running 64-bit windows. The disc i have is from the it office at my school.

I got hp g61 window 7, amd athlon (tm) ii dual-core m300 2. 00ghz with 4. Gb ram and 64 bit window operating system. I partitioned the drive c as described in window 7 help. After partitioned c, system recovery not working, as i want to revert my computer to original factory position. When i inserted recovery disks, window 7 automatically started instead of recovery. Two questions:

1. How i can access the recovery option and revert my computer to original factory position.
2. Is my recovery disks are ok, how i can check them, why they did not work.

System Image Recovery Stops

I had to send my laptop in for an rma, so i made a system image of my drives using the windows 7 backup utility. I have a single 250gb hard drive which is partitioned into two different drives. My c: had mostly windows 7 files and some programs while my d: had game installations and was used for general storage. When i received the laptop back (they just had to replace my dvd drive), i noticed they reformatted my hard drive and threw windows vista back on the thing, but the partitions still looked to be the same as before.

My system images were stored on a 1tb external drive, so i booted off of a windows 7 recovery cd and attempted to restore the c: and d: drives. After 13 minutes in the progress bar reaches about 1/3 of the way in. The hard drive activity light switches from always on to just flickering every couple seconds and no more progress is made. I've given it over an hour just sitting at this spot, but no matter how much time is given, the restore does not progress.

I've tried changing different options in the restore utility (only restoring one drive, formatting the drives to match the images and not), but no matter what i do, i get the same problem. I've also tried running the system image recovery from a windows 7 disk and from within windows 7 after a clean install. Does anyone have any suggestions? When i made the system image, i was told it was successful.

System Image Recovery Can't Find System Image

I am trying to restore a backup system image to my repaired pc. It is wiped clean. I have the "repair disc windows 7 64 bit" that i created in windows 7. Using windows 7 backup i have a system image backup on an external wd essentials 1tb usb hard drive. I insert the repair disc and start the system. Get to system recovery options. I have the external hard disk with the system backup image connected. Select system image recovery option. Says "windows cannot find a system image on this computer. Attach the backup hard disk or insert the final dvd from a backup set and click retry. Alternatively, close this dialog for more options.

Retry gives me the same message. Tried starting with drive attached, not attached, same result. Click cancel. Next option selected is "select a system image. " No system image listed. Hit refresh, still nothing. Top of screen says "click advanced to add a network location or install a driver for a backup device if it does not show up in the list below. "  I click on the advanced tab.

Option to "search for a system image on the network" or "install a driver. " I select install a driver. Find the right driver for the wd essential hard drive (disk.sys and partmgr.sys) and when i click on them i get "the specified location does not contain information about your hardware. "  Click ok. Can't find how to load these drivers i am being asked for. Funny thing is that on the screen where i search for driver i can see the wd essential hard drive connected to the system. I can also see the system image files but when i click on them i get the same error message, "the specified location does not contain information about your hardware. "

Driver Update Via System Image Recovery Problem

Driver update via system image recovery. Not enough disk-space on "virtual"x: drive. Trying to upgrade my computer with windows 7. The following problem occurs. After trying to reboot, the screen says starting services. The screen flickers and a message appears with windows 7 encountered and unexpected problem. After that the system hangs. After googling, i've figured that the ati driver is the problem.

I wanted to repair this with system image recovery, using the driver install option says there isn't a system image yet. I can load a file and try to install this driver but a message appears with not enough disk space. When going to the explorer (still in system image recovery) i see a new disk x: with only about 38 mb disk space and about 2 mb free.

Invalid Password - Cannot Access System Recovery Console

System recovery console insists i'm using an "invalid password. " I installed win7. I make a written record of all passwords used so i am certain i know the password i set initially; it's a simple word i always use for low-security situations. Nevertheless, i tried all logical variations of that password (upper and lower case, etc. ) But nothing works. I loaded "ophcrack livecd" and found the password is . I tried using no password and that fails also. What can i do to get past "invalid password" so i can get into the system recovery console? Thanks.

Best Version For Slim / Fast System

I am looking for the best way to set up a windows 7 x64 system, which will have the following, very specific tasks:

Receive data streams from network
Some calculations with that data
Render high quality 3d content

So i would like to have only a basic system for max performance in this tasks and no special features like media stuff, games, gadgets, desktop profiles and so on. Which windows 7 edition would be the best to achieve this, and how do i have to configure this?

Once i plug in my hdmi, the video appears on the tv and not the audio. The tv is set to receive hdmi, i've downloaded all the drivers, and i'm frustrated to my wits end.

Power Option Does Not Display

I recently brought a new laptop which runs windows 7 home premium. I use it either at work, university or at home (where i attach an external monitor) and so often need to change the power settings depending on whether i am running on battery or not etc. However recently when i either click the power icon in the status bar (bottom right) or through the control pannel nothing happens, not even an error message. This happens regardless of whether its power by mains or battery, has the external monitor attached or not, or is connected to the internet or not. The icon in the control pannel has also changed to a file image instead of the power options icon. How do i fix this?

Remove Vista Boot Option

Since installing windows 7 over my vista os i get a boot manager screen asking me which os i want to load, windows 7 or vista. I thought the upgrade would eliminate vista as an option. I didn't partition and install. I was doing a straight upgrade. How can i remove vista as a boot option? Is there anything else i need to be aware of that can cause a problem? I don't want to leave any items that will cause a conflict. I am a little but not hugely computer saavy.

Sleep Option Problem After Upgrade

I have an hp pavilion dv6500 (though it says dv6000 on the case) that i bought in june 2007. I recently upgraded to windows 7 professional (32) from vista ultimate. Ever since i installed windows 7, the computer won't sleep-it's not even an option. The option on the start menu is grayed out, and when i go to edit plan settings, there are no options to put it into sleep. When i go to advanced power settings, the sleep node only has "hibernate after" and "allow wake up timers. " Under "power buttons and lid" the drop down menus only offer hibernate, shut down, and do nothing.

It seems to me that this is some sort of hardware/driver issue, but i have no clue how to solve it.

Clear Type Text Option

When setting up clear type text, the application will not save settings. My words are extremely blurry when i have the text size set at 100% and can only view text with the size set at 115% or higher. Changing the resolution only makes it worse. (I have computer set to recommended resolution status. )  Any idea on how i can get clear type to save my preferred settings?  Actually, clear type worked during initial set up but after recent windows updates clear type hasn't worked properly.

Upgrade Option Disc Is Not Working

I just started to install windows 7. I inserted the upgrade assistant disc and followed the directions. When it told me to eject the assistant and insert the operating system disc, i did, and again followed the directions. It said that i needed to complete the following task before the installation could continue. The task was to restart my computer so certain files could be changed.

It said to close out of the upgrade, restart my computer, then continue the upgrade. I closed out, took out the disc, restarted my computer, inserted the disc again, and nothing popped up like it did before. What's more, i can't find the disc under 'computer. ' what do i do to finish the installation and activate windows 7?

Can't Get Rid Of Multiboot Option At Boot

Can't get rid of multiboot option. Had installed win. Server 2003 on virtual pc then removed it, but multiboot is still there. I only want windows 7. The option for windows server is not even showing up in bcedit. It looks like there is only one choice. I even tried easybcd and it said there was only 1 entry and it is windows 7. Yet when i restart my machine it always presents a multiboot option with windows server being the top option. I have to click on windows 7 or it will try to boot into windows server (which is no longer present) and then waits for me to insert the installation disk to complete installation.

I don't want windows server anymore. It is not present in the control panel remove a program either. I don't know why it keeps trying to boot into it. Any ideas? Please use small words, i'm not that knowledgeable about the innards of windows.

That is jus tthe thing, i bought vista home premium 64 just to upgrade. I know it is valid because i bought the package from compusa brand new on 10/2/2009.
