64-bit Compatible Usb Wireless-n Adapter

Iv'e noticed an inordinate number of people having endless problems with wireless networking and windows 7. Now its my turn. Linksys wag120n router wpa2billion bipac 3011n usb adapter connected to winxp sp3. Worked instantly. Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit sitting next to it with the same usb adapter (listed as realtek rtl8191su) cannot see the router or any of the available wireless networks within range. I tried different drivers and disabled kaspersky av all to no avail. My question is this:
Can anyone out there suggest a usb wireless-n adapter that they know works with linksys wag120n on windows 7 64-bit? (Desktop)

Belkin Usb Wireless Adapter With 64-bit

I have recently bought a belkin wireless g usb adapter (f5d7050) and am unable to connect to any connections on my desktop.

I am using the adapter on my desktop, which is running windows 7 professional 64bit. I have been searching online for solutions, and saw tons of compatibility problems with this device, yet i have gotten the drivers working (or so it seems) even though i can not connect to any networks.

I have tried using the drivers that the device came with in multiple compatibility modes, in addition to the newest drivers on belkin's website in multiple compatibility modes.

The driver seems to be working, my device is recognized, and i can click on it and see all the wireless networks within range. My problem is that it will not connect to any of these networks, whether it is an open network, or a wpa2 network. I know my router works, since i am using the internet on my laptop. I also have checked the router for any funky settings that would cause my problems. There is no mac filtering, or anything else that would cause the device to not connect.

I am wondering what i need to do in order to connect to the networks. It doesn't even seem like windows 7 is trying when i type in the password, or select an open network. I instantly get the "can't connect to "

Considering belkin has been no help, i have come here as my last resort. I really need internet on my desktop. Please let me know if there is a solution to this problem.

Problems With Usb Wireless Adapter

Having problems with usb wireless adapter. Seems to go to sleep regularly and not wake up. When running xp, this would happen occasionally. All i would do to fix it was unplug and plug the usb adapter and it would start back up fine.

With windows 7, it happens regularly and when i unplug and plug it will not restart. Only thing that works is to restart? Is there a way to restart the wireless adapter without restarting. Or better, keep it from dying or restart automatically.

Problems With Usb Wireless Network Adapter

Have purchased new hp desktop with windows 7 home premium. Have tried using d-link dwa-160 (reva) usb wireless adapter. Used latest updated software from d-link site (may be for vista 64 os as win 7 not listed). Wireless adapter works for short time and then loses connection. Have used win 7 wizard to fix problem. Indicates that driver for usb may not correct driver. Still disconnects throughout the day. Have un-installed software.

Deleted driver for dwa-160. Re-started computer with clean start. Plug usb adapter in and windows 7 does not even recognize that a usb device is connected. Have tried to "add a device" and win 7 still does not recognize that anything is connected to usb. Hp amd win 7 x64. Any help?

Belkin F5d8053 N Usb Wireless Adapter Cannot Connect

It would seem that plenty of people on the forums have had similar problems to mine but no real solutions are forthcoming, so i thought i may as well put my problem up in case the specifics make it easily solvable. Bear with me cos i've tried a lot of things and i don't want to leave anything out incase it's useful. Ok, i got a new laptop recently and wanted to transfer my music collection from my desktop to the laptop.

At this time both machines were connecting to the network properly, i was using a belkin usb g wireless adapter and windows 7 ultimate x64 in the desktop, and the inbuilt wireless with windows 7 home premium x64 on the laptop. I tried to do this through homegroups and for some reason the laptop couldn't join or even see the homegroup, so i ended up connecting the hard drive from the laptop directly to the desktop via sata cable. When i put the hard drives back the way they were originally after the transfer was complete, the wireless on my desktop had stopped working.

In the adapter settings panel, the wireless connection was set to disabled and whenever i tried to enable it, a box came up saying "enabling" followed by "enabled" but the main icon in the panel would still say disabled and the network wizard would say "not connected". To eliminate hardware malfunction as a cause, i tried disabling the integrated wireless on the laptop and using the usb adapter from the desktop to connect to the internet. This worked better than it ever had in the desktop. I tried updating the drivers in various compatibility modes and removing every trace of belkin software from the computer to start again, but to no avail. In the end i bought a new usb adapter, the 802. 11n adapter in the subject line (i needed an upgrade anyway as the router is two floors below the computer).

This worked better in the desktop, allowing the wireless connection to enable, but still not seeing any wireless networks in the area (of which there are around 6). After much uninstalling, reinstalling, updating, rolling back, shouting and pleading, the adapter finally started picking up the wireless networks for the area, including mine. Unfortunately that is all it would do - it refused to connect. All the while, the laptop has been able to make a strong connection with the router. I have tried going into the routers firmware from the desktop but inexplicably while the networking wizard can see the wireless network, the computer cannot get through to the router.

A wired connection works, however having the router and computer in the same room permanently is impossible due to the position of the cable entry point in my house. Removing the router security does not work. Resetting the router and rebuilding the network connection does not work. Threats do not work. I was hoping that somebody would have a suggestion as to why this is happening and what can be done.

Linksys Wireless-g Usb Network Adapter Update Fails

I recently installed windows 7 on my pc that was previously running xp. Ever since installation i've had issues with my wireless adapter. Whenever my pc is shutdown, restarted, or left to sleep for extended periods the network monitor in the tray displays that there are no connections available (as if the system doesn't recognize the adapter).

I have been uninstalling/reinstalling the driver from the disk every time this happens. Also, the update mentioned in the title fails to install. Would this update fix my problem and how do i fix it?

Talktalk Snu5630ns 05 Wireless Usb Adapter Driver Compatibility

I am using the talktalk snu5630ns 05 wireless usb adapter, in the beta version of windows 7 the device installed with windows xp drivers and ran better than it did on xp. The compatibility tool which told me which parts of the computer were compatible with windows 7 told me that this device will work. This is my only method of connecting to the internet to the message 'windows cannot install this device due to an unknown error, please connect to the internet and download the latest drivers' is not much help. After switching back to xp professional i have been looking for solutions to this problem but have found none, does anyone have the same problem and does anyone have a solution to this problem or will i need to buy a new usb dongle?

Driver Did Not Install For Netgear Wireless-g Usb 2.0 Adapter Wg111

After installing a wireless adapter i get the message: driver did not install.compatibility problems? I just purchased a toshiba satellite l455-s5975 windows 7 (32-bit) laptop. I also purchased a netgear wireless-g usb 2. 0 adapter (wg111). When i download the software, i get the message: driver did not install. So i uninstalled, restarted the computer and did it again and received the same message. I talked to someone at the electronics store where i purchased the adapter and was told that even though it doesn't say it's compatible with windows 7, i could download a patch from microsoft  and it would work. Well, i have no idea which one or how to do it. If this is possible and someone knows this information, l please share.

Compatible Network Adapter

Last week i went out and bought a hp pavilion desktop model # p6203w with windows 7. We have one computer wired to our dsl and a linksys wireless g broadband router model # wrt54g. My problem is the belkin wireless adapter i bought didn't work. Call hp customer service and they told me that the belkin adapter wasn't compatible with windows 7. I took the belkin back to the store and looked at the other adapters. None of them are compatible with windows 7.

I have a toshiba satellite laptop that works fine with the router so i don't want to replace the router. What i need to know is what brand and model # adapter i need to buy to get my desktop up and running? I have checked the device manager and it offers dial up and broadband but not wireless.

Will 64-bit Win 7 Run 32-bit Xp Compatible Programs ?

Will 64-bit windows 7 run 32-bit xp compatible programs that are not compatible with 64-bit vista ultimate? I recently bought a new pc with vista ultimate. It's my first 64-bit system (long time xp user). I have encountered big problems with the new 64-bit vista.

Specifically, i have several programs which run on 32-bit xp, but will not run at all on 64 bit vista (vpn checkpoint client, and solidworks 2008 - both non-trivial items used constantly for work). I bought the computer never imagining that i would have problems with these programs.

In vista, the only option i've found to make these programs "work" has been virtual pc. With virtual pc, in your new vista operating system, you can set up a "virtual computer", and install an old operating system on it, where your old programs will work. Installing an old operating system within a new operating system polices the borders of common sense. Too - the programs you install on the "virtual pc" are not free to communicate with the "real" pc. So in the frustrating case of my vpn client, i only see it function in fairyland (i.e. The virtual pc).

I recall a similar issue that arose with the windows 98 transition to xp. I thought xp handled this well with its "program compatibility wizard" (as i believe it was called). Where did this function go? Will it return with w7?

16-bit Program Not Compatible With 64-bit Win7

My specialty business program is not installing on my new computer. The program is 7y/o and there are no new versions. It is 16 bit and the computer is 64 bit windows home premium. I was told to upgrade to windows professional so i could run "windows virtual pc" and windows xp which i have on my old computer. So i upgrade and get the professional. Now i'm told that my brand new computer doesn't have some that of hardware that is required to run virtual pc.

Microsoft Virtual Wireless Adapter

I have a dell vostro 1400 notebook with a broadcom wlan 1390 installed. Recently, i have upgraded the wlan driver to version 5. 60. 18 using the upgrade provided by dell bearing id no r242438. After the upgrade, i have confronted the following problem. The name of the adapter has changed in programs like stopcut and netcut. In other words, when i try to access the drop list to choose the name of my network adapter, i find the name of my ethernet adapter mentioned correctly, microsoft virtual adapter mentioned correctly, while my wireless adapter is labeled as microsoft instead of dwlan 1390 as it used to display before.

The adapter is displayed with its right label (dwlan 1390) in the device manager and in the adapters list in the network connections window. However, whenever i use a third party application to access my adapters list, the label i got for my wireless adapter is microsoft and not dwlan 1390. I rolled back to my old driver and i get the same result.

Wireless Network Adapter Gone Missing

After resuming from a sleep, the network adapter disappeared. This happened before and they replaced the computer, after trying a system restore and then full recovery. Apparently, it's not the computer. The wireless adapter is missing from device manager, much less the network and connections area. In troubleshoot, the computer simply says a network cable needs to be plugged in. There is no wireless choice under network connections. There is no wireless adapter tab upon right click of network adapter in device manager.

The realtek wlan driver does appear in the programs & features list. I uninstalled, reinstalled, and also found/installed a patch for the driver. This did not work. I also started/automated the autoconfig scripts for wireless. Nothing works.

Wireless Network Adapter Compatibility

As stated matter above, i would to have a professional guidance on what should i do. First of all, i currently using the windows 7 which just installed on my acer aspire 4736z (laptop) about a month ago. My wireless connection to the belkin router previously work just fine until recently i decided to change to the new d-link dsl-2640t wireless router. The troubleshooting window kept on bugging me to reset the router. I followed all the instructions, but to no avail nothing changed.

I tried to download some of the wireless network drivers to replace the current wireless network adapter (atheros ar5b93 wireless network) but again nothing changed. Surprisingly, i did succeed to access the internet using the cat 5e ethernet cable which connected point-to-point from the wireless router to the laptop. So here, i suspected there is something wrong with the wireless network adapter.

All the downloaded folders failed to take effect on the current settings. The recommended solution by windows is either to reset network adapter or access point. Is it have anything to do with the compatibility of the wireless network adapter with the dsl-2640t wireless router or any other issues?

D Link Wireless Adapter Compatibility

Trying to install dlink  dwl-g122 wireless network adapter onto new asus desktop. Error message saying 2 entrypoint files not found. It has been working fine on a 32 bit windows xp for a couple of years. Dlink tech people say that it is not compatible, no new drivers to update;  but windows 7 compatibility center says it is. My geek squad  people say that it might be the 32/64 bit issue. Also using the dlink di 624 wireless router. Also a 2nd computer in the house working fine with existing router.

Rosewill Rnx-g300lx Wireless Adapter Not Working

Upgraded to windows 7 from windows xp and can't get a wireless adapter to work. Have both a rosewill rnx-g300lx and a linksys wusb65gs and have tried multiple drivers without any luck. Both worked fine prior to upgrade. Windows 7 device manager will recognize the rosewill and when using network manager it recognizes my wireless network, but once i enter encryption code it hangs for longest time and then tells me there is a problem with the connection.

I ran the problem solver multiple times only to be told there is not a solution. If i plug the linksys usb adapter in it won't even recognize it despite having no problems prior to the windows 7 upgrade. If there is no solution do you at least have a list of compatible devices?

Linksys Wmp300n Wireless Adapter Driver Issue

Windows overwriting linksys wmp300n wireless adapter driver with broadcom 802. 11n network adapter driver. After installing drivers for a linksys wmp300n pci wireless adapter, windows is automatically overwriting it with newer broadcom 802. 11n network adapter drivers (that cause it to not work). How can i install the appropriate drivers and prevent windows from changing them?

I tried using gpedit. Msc to prevent automatic installation of drivers, but then that prevented me from installing the real drivers as well. Can i make a policy that would just prevent the broadcom driver from installing?

Wireless And Lan Network Adapter Icon Disappeared

I have an acer aspire 8920g running windows 7 ultimate having updated frm windows vista 32-bit. My problem is that for some reason my network adapters, both wireless and the lan ports don't show up in the area they used to, and also both of the drivers i had in my network adapter section in the device manger had a yellow question mark over them which means the device is not working properly because windows cant load the required driver.

This meant i couldn't load the internet, through using another pc i managed to reinstall and update one of my devices/drivers (intel wireless wifi link 4695agn) but my other one (atheros ar8121/ar8113/ar8114 pci-e ethernet controller) hasn't stopped having this error (code 31 error) even though ive downloaded the latest drivers from the atheros website which means i still cannot use my lan ports. Does anyone have any idea what may have happened?

Updates Disable Usb Network Adapter

I recently installed windows 7 pro x64, at first everything worked fine however after running windows update my network adapter stopped functioning.network connections in the control panel no longer lists my adapter but the device manager tells me that everything is working properly. The icon by the clock detects neither any wi-fi networks or even the adapter. I have tried this with two different ones a rosewill and a zonet with the same results. Does anyone know if this is a specific update problem or is it a device driver problem?
